Solo Leveling: Infinite Talent

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: The Abyss Stares Back

A massive black gate hung in the sky like an unblinking eye, distorting space around it. Unlike normal dungeon gates, which shimmered with ethereal blue light, this one pulsed with an ominous crimson glow.

It was unnatural.

Mai narrowed his eyes, his senses screaming at him.

This wasn't a normal dungeon.

The surrounding hunters tensed, their instincts warning them of danger. Even Jinhyuk, battered from their earlier fight, forced himself to his feet, gripping his sword with a grim expression.

"Director Choi…" one of the observers muttered into a comm. "Do we have any records of this kind of gate?"

Director Choi's face was unreadable, but her tightened grip on the railing betrayed her concern.

"No."

Her voice was quiet, but heavy.

"No dungeon gate has ever given off this kind of energy before."

Mai remained silent, analyzing.

He wasn't like the others. His abilities allowed him to copy and fuse any talent within a 1 km radius. And right now…

He was feeling something.

Something alive.

Then—

The gate pulsed.

And something stepped out.

System Notification

Ding!

[A Calamity-Class Being Has Emerged]

[Your Talent Copy Ability is Activating…]

The air twisted as the first creature emerged.

A towering humanoid wrapped in shadows, its body shifting like liquid darkness. Red runes glowed across its skin, and its hollow eyes locked onto Mai.

And then—

It smiled.

"I've found you."

Partial Stat Window Update

[Mai Lee – Level 40]

[New Talent Copied: Abyssal Dominion (SSS)][Your Luck Has Stabilized][Threat Level: Unknown]

Mai's heartbeat slowed.

It wasn't just an enemy.

It knew him.

And it had been looking for him.

But before Mai could react, something else happened.

The gate pulsed again.

More figures stepped forward—four, no, five Calamity-Class entities emerged, their bodies shifting with the same unnatural fluidity as the first.

And then—

The sky cracked.

A second gate appeared above the first, but this one was different. It was silver, radiating an energy that opposed the crimson abyss below.

And from that gate—

A single figure descended.

Unlike the shadowy entities, this one was clad in radiant golden armor, its very presence pushing back the oppressive darkness. A blinding spear of light burned in its hands, and its wings, made of pure divine energy, spread wide.

The two forces stood opposed, their auras clashing, sending shockwaves through the sky.

Mai clenched his fists.

It wasn't just about him anymore.

Something far bigger than he had realized was happening.

And he was at the center of it.
