Soul-Slaying Maiden: Master Of Ancient Divine Weapons

Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Five-Star Necro-Warrior

A massive explosion erupted, scattering metal fragments and body parts in all directions.

The capsule bomb, CanShang Company's method for controlling slaves, had unimaginable destructive power.

The pursuing alloy robots and necro-warriors were obliterated in an instant.

Han Zhen grabbed the still-kneeling Wang Chunyu and bolted toward their second escape point.

The second escape point was a research pod. Due to its design, the pod had a direct route to an external water source, making it an ideal choice for Wang Chunyu's backup plan.

When they reached the pod, neither reinforcements nor security robots had arrived yet.

Seeing this, they felt a slight sense of relief.

"Pull yourself together! Shang Xiaoyun sacrificed her life to create this opportunity for us. Do you want her effort to be wasted?"

"No, you don't understand! You'll never understand this feeling! Xiaoyun is dead! She's dead!"

"I don't understand? Do you think I didn't feel powerless when I personally told my teacher the path to his death and then watched him step into it? That feeling is like killing him with my own hands."

Han Zhen's words jolted Wang Chunyu back to reality.

"So, what's gone is gone. Those of us still alive must live with all our strength." Han Zhen said, not waiting for Wang Chunyu's response. He pushed open the research pod door and stepped in first.

As they entered, they froze at the sight before them.

Inside the pod, a man sat calmly, eyes closed, seemingly meditating.

Hearing the door open, the man abruptly opened his eyes.

[Situation escalation confirmed. Current threat level: Tier Two. Casualties among security units and necro-warriors justify the deployment of reinforcements.]

[Threat assessment: currently unknown. However, the target is believed to possess one remaining NA29 capsule bomb, capable of immense destruction. Recommend deploying a five-star necro-warrior for suppression.]

Skynet AI issued the new directive.

A five-star necro-warrior, comparable in strength to a level-five spirit contractor from Daxia, was now in motion.

As the situation escalated, more eyes turned toward the mechanical research institute.

The night would not be peaceful.

In the sky, a unique aircraft left a trail of crimson flames, streaking through the dark like a descending red comet.

As the dust settled, a figure emerged from the crimson blaze.

This was Shang Lin, a five-star necro-warrior and the regional security commander.

Upon his arrival, the other necro-warriors surrounding the research institute parted to make way for him.

Having just undergone a new necro-modification procedure, Shang Lin felt his body brimming with newfound power.

These modifications weren't free. To afford further enhancements, he needed to continuously earn merit and rewards.

Hearing of this mission, he had rushed to the scene at top speed.

"No need to brief me—the AI has already shared the details. Now, tell me where they are."

"Our analysis suggests one remaining fugitive. The individual likely still has an unused capsule bomb. Due to the explosion, some surveillance has been disrupted. Based on the last known location, the fugitive is in the research pod of Sector B."

"Head to Sector B immediately. No, wait—activate the star-teleportation feature."

With a wave of his hand, Shang Lin pressed a button on his arm. In the next moment, his entire body turned into a streak of starlight, shooting directly into the mechanical research institute.

Star-teleportation placed an enormous strain on the body and was typically avoided unless absolutely necessary.

Since Shang Lin had already made the call, the other necro-warriors reluctantly followed, activating their own star-teleportation abilities.

In mere seconds, streaks of starlight converged at the research pod's entrance in Sector B.

Shang Lin scanned the area with a cold expression. His ocular implants quickly detected residual traces on the pod's door.

Through his advanced vision, he spotted a lone figure inside the pod.

"Break it down!" he commanded.

One of his subordinates immediately charged forward and smashed the door open.

Inside was a man in a white lab coat, sitting calmly.

"Assistant Liu? What are you doing here?"

"Isn't it obvious? This is a research pod. Where else would I be? In one of your CanShang Company cages?"

"Hmph, looks like the people from the fifth battle zone aren't as tough as they pretend to be."

"Are you here to argue with me?"

Ignoring the sarcasm, Shang Lin scanned the room suspiciously.

Assistant Liu was a Daxia captive. His expertise in healing as a spirit contractor had earned him a special position as a research assistant, rather than being imprisoned like the others.

Still, Shang Lin didn't trust him entirely.

"This room is hiding someone, isn't it?"

"If you cooperate, I might reconsider the fate of your comrades still rotting in our prisons."

Hearing the threat, Assistant Liu's expression flickered briefly.

With a seemingly casual glance to his right, he slowly raised his left hand, pointing toward a pile of crates.

Feigning arrogance, he said, "What nonsense are you talking about? There's no one here but me. Now, get out."

Seeing Liu's cooperation, Shang Lin smirked and gestured to his men.

The necro-warriors raised their weapons, all pointing at the pile of crates.

Suddenly, the crates shifted. A figure sprang out, tossing aside a camouflaged cloth and charging straight at them.

The next instant, a blinding flash filled the room, rendering everyone temporarily blind.

By the time their vision returned, the fugitive had broken through their encirclement and was sprinting down another corridor.

"The target has escaped. Assistant Liu, thank you for your cooperation," Shang Lin said coldly, before pursuing the fugitive.

To him, this was nothing more than a game of cat and mouse. The only variable was the capsule bomb.

Wait—the bomb?

Something clicked in Shang Lin's mind. His gaze snapped downward.

Scattered across the floor were countless tiny particles—components of the capsule bomb.

When had the fugitive managed to disarm the bomb and spread its contents here?

BOOM!

A deafening explosion rocked the pod.

Shang Lin and Assistant Liu were hurled through the air by the blast, while others were completely obliterated.

"Damn it!" Shang Lin roared, dragging the scorched but still-breathing Assistant Liu to safety.

His own body, now exposed from the waist up, revealed skeletal structures gleaming with metallic luster.

Furious, Shang Lin slammed his foot down, launching himself like a cannonball in pursuit of the fugitive.
