Chapter 302: Travelling
The carriage pulled away from the castle, slowly departing. The castle grew smaller and smaller with every passing moment.
"Tell me, why do we have to use the slow traveling method? It will take us weeks to get to the empire," Dawn said, and everyone else nodded in agreement.
"Yes, exactly what I want. You don't start building a reputation when you arrive at the empire; you start on the road, the journey there. That's where it begins.
I can assure you that we will go through some insignificant towns that will try to cause us issues. We'll meet mercenaries, thieves, and robbers—a lot of people we will enjoy meeting.
There's also the fact that there are monsters in the forests, and they'll probably attack us from time to time. We'll take them out.
Then we'll find a way to make sure people hear about it, and it slowly starts reaching the empire long before we even arrive.
With that, we have a base and some sort of credibility. Also, we would have made some unknown enemies that will add spice to the whole thing.
So, I know this will be a long and very boring journey, but it will give us a very good organic reputation," Silva said, leaning back against the carriage walls.
Slowly, the carriage left the capital and entered the free road, actually beginning the journey.
After half a day, the carriage left the borders of the kingdom, through the forest, into an empty valley path.
The road to the empire was north from the kingdom, and the route was filled with many dangerous places. That was one of the main reasons people didn't travel much or travel alone.
Silva pulled out a map as they rode in the carriage. The map was carefully crafted to even show their current location in the form of a moving arrow.
"This field is called the Devil Rabbit Field. It stretches from our kingdom all the way to the next kingdom, the Ronan Kingdom.
I think they were one of the kingdoms that had a hand in the attack on Olen, though we didn't go after the rest.
The field stretches out for a total of one hundred and twenty kilometers, and with our current speed, it will take us about two days to get to the first Ronan village," Silva said.
"Uh, Silva, first question, why is this field called the Devil Rabbit Field?" Lia asked.
"Oh, that. Well, I looked into it a bit, and I discovered that this field is unclaimed because a race called the Devil Rabbits lives here.
Now, it would be easy to kill one, but the records show that they attack in groups reaching hundreds or thousands.
In the grass on each side of the road are holes where the rabbits live, so we should be careful not to wake them up," Silva said.
"It's funny. Humans separated themselves from other races, yet other races still live here in their place," Dawn said.
"Actually, humans make up a very small population, Dawn. Also, the races that humans hate are the sentient and intelligent life forms that are smart and can pose global threats.
More specifically, the ones that joined the First War. Humans can never really eradicate other races from their surroundings. It's not possible," Silva said.
Aaron looked into the carriage and called Silva's attention. "You said something about the distance—over a hundred kilometers—and it will take two days.
Do we stop on the way there? Like, do we take any stops, or are we going straight there?" Aaron asked.
"Uhm, I think we should take a break when night comes. We have to make it seem like we are a totally normal group of humans and actually need sleep.
But for us to rest, we will have to make it to a clearing. A few have been carefully made over the years by past travelers so they wouldn't disturb the rabbits.
So, if we get to one by nightfall, we'll camp there. Does that work for everyone?" Silva asked.
"Yeah, it does," they answered.
"Then our journey will be a bit longer than the initial time frame that you gave," Aaron said.
"Yup, but it doesn't matter. Oh, also, Dawn, you said it would take weeks to get to the empire. Well, I'm estimating a good four weeks total before we get there.

Because on the map, there are four kingdoms before the empire, and we are not going to rush past them. We have to take it at a reasonable pace.
When we get to Ronan, we will stay a bit and carry out some things, maybe to build a little more reputation before we move on.
There's also the point that we all don't know squat about the kingdoms, the empire, or the continents. It's shocking that we've been doing things up till now with so little info.
You could literally hold a blade to my neck and ask me where certain places are, and I wouldn't know anything about them.
So, for the days we'll be staying, we'll also try to study and get everything we need to know about this continent from end to end," Silva said.
"Silva, you have photographic memory. Why the hell don't you know all that already?" Lia asked.
"Because I've been running around doing other things. Also, it would shock you how much information there actually is.
This entire continent is way crazier than I thought, and I'll need time to process the information properly," Silva said.
"Just have one of your clones do it," Lia said.
"That is true. You have so many things at your disposal, but you hardly use them. I'm beginning to think you don't know you're pretty rich, filled with resources, and also extremely powerful," Sage said.
"You guys are no fun. Let's just keep traveling," Silva said, pouting. But what they said did bring something to his mind, why did he not always use all the things he had at his disposal
