"Check them" Mary spoke as she sat down and the other three mages there went to work standing in front of each of the crystal.

The mage that stood in front of the S-rank crystal couldn't get her eyes off Roman while he was looking downward.

'Everyone here has already been checked, I wonder their reason for checking again, and a research department, I wonder what they're doing here'

The first girl in front was the member of the Firefrost which Roman hadn't seen her face, just her hair and he wasn't that surprised even though it was strange.

She had blue hair with red covering the lower part, her hair was blue and red mixed just like her family name, Firefrost.

Roman was sure her hair was just blue then parts of it was dyed red just because and he couldn't lie, her hair was beautiful.

She stepped up and placed her hands on the crystal as instructed by the mage in front of her, the other rows also began doing the same thing and this time it was different from the awakening ceremony.

The next line to them was the A-rank line and the moment the first person placed his hands, the crystal gently changed colors to a dim blue, while the line with B-rank had the green color.

During the awakening ceremony only the S-rank had color change, the rest ranks had nothing, it was the mage performing the ceremony that had to announce their ranks, but this particular crystal had been specially fitted.

The moment the Firefrost palm touched the surface, the crystal glowed with a deep red light. It was a quick, then it dimmed again.

Nothing else happened.

The mage beside the crystal nodded. "Confirmed."

She stepped aside and walked towards the back of the line and as she did, she and Roman exchanged looks.

For Roman this was surprising, not because she was staring at him but because she looked angry at him, something no other female had ever done before.

Usually when females look at him, it's one of the two things, they notice how handsome he looks and they want to get in his pants, but for her it was different.

She stood behind Roman as Reina stepped towards the crystal.

'Why the hell does she look angry at me, I haven't even seen her before, is she upset that a male is S-rank or what, she's behind me'

"Are you angry at me or what?" Roman turned around and asked.

"Why wouldn't I be, you're going to destroy my life, why the hell are you even S-rank, and a commoner at that, tsk..." She spoke as she faced away.

'What the heck is she talking about, how the hell am I going to destroy her life?'

"What are you talking about?" Roman asked.

"What do you think I'm talking about, because you're an S-rank male I'll have no choice but to mate with you, I don't even have an option, which is going to take 2 years off my life, and I'll never be a proper mage because of you"

Roman could see her face, she was genuinely angry at him, but it wasn't his fault, she was the top candidate to mate with Roman since she was the current youngest S-rank from a noble family.

After her, Reina was going to mate with Roman and have children, and they going to continue mating just in case, because there's a slim chance the first child won't turn out to be an S-rank.

Roman didn't reply since he was next.

He didn't move right away. He could already feel the eyes on him again. Even though there were many students around, the moment he stepped forward there was a little silence as everyone stopped talking, even Mary now had her eyes in Roman.

He was already certified to be an S-rank, but everyone would want to see with their eyes.

The mage in front of the S-rank crystal looked at Roman with a smile on her face. She didn't even speak, just gave him a slight nod.

Roman walked up calmly, stopping right in front of the crystal. He looked down at it for a second before slowly raising his hand.

And then, he placed his palm on the crystal.

Just like the two S-ranks before him, the crystal glowed red, and same as the awakening ceremony it didn't stop there, it changed to purple, blue, green, orange and stopped when Roman took his hands off.

Roman wanted to go when the mage stopped him as she also placed her hands on the crystal.

"Wait..." She spoke as she turned towards Miss Mary.

Mary stood up and began walking towards the mage and when she got close, the mage muttered some words into Mary's ears and she looked shocked.

'They can't check my stats, there's really no way to explain it to them, at least they can confirm that I'm an S-rank'

"Move on" Mary spoke and Roman walked to the back, it seems Mary wasn't interested in asking him since she thinks he wouldn't know.

After Roman stepped back, the checking continued smoothly.

The rest of the A-rank students moved forward one by one, placing their palms on the crystal. Each time, the crystal glowed a soft blue before dimming again. There was no delay, no surprises — just quick confirmation and a nod from the mage beside the crystal.

The B-rank line was also the same. As each student touched their crystal, it lit up with a green hue for a moment, then returned to normal.

It seemed the academy was saving the stats and magic type of their students.

Once the last A-rank student stepped away, Clara clapped her hands to gather everyone's attention and besides her was tons of uniforms and two females.

"It's time to receive your uniforms, if your name is called step forward"

The uniforms were all the same — black with a blue hue when light hit the fabric, marked by a single silver crest over the heart that represented Class 1.

"These are combat uniforms, you'll get three of them, one each class, they are specially enchanted for durability and comfort," Ckara continued. "All Class 1 students wear the same. Take care of them."

Soon names were called and the students stepped forward in order, receiving their uniforms.

"Roman" The voice called and he walked forward.

Commoners weren't called by their full names since their surnames is basically useless only noble families.

Roman nodded and accepted the folded uniform.

Behind him, Reina received hers next.

Clara stood at the front again. "Now that you have received your uniforms, head to the dorm where you'll be assigned a room, my work here is done"

As Clara dismissed the students, everyone started talking again. Some looked excited, others just talking and most of all, they were still staring at Roman.

As the students arrived at the dorm room, in front of the dorm was two tables and two females seating.

Without being told the students formed towards lines in front of the two tables.

Roman held his folded uniform in one arm and quietly stepped into the line on the right. Reina joined just behind him, not saying a word.

The sky was starting to turn orange — evening was close.

"Do you think the rooms will be nice?" someone whispered.

"I just hope I get a quiet roommate," another said but secretly everyone was hoping to be the male's roommate.

Roman knew he wanted a good roommate, as they were told it was going to be two persons per room, so if course he wanted someone like Reina, but what are the odds he actually gets her as his roommate.

The students began stepped up one after the other and soon it was Roman's turn and he stepped forward.

"Room 2B, Second floor," she said, handing him a key and a paper with instructions. "You'll be sharing with one other person."

Roman nodded, said nothing, and walked into the dorm, the dorm as he had seen stood tall and clean, with wide glass windows and small balconies, if he actually got a room was a balcony.

One by one, other students were given their room numbers and all moved forward and soon it was Firefrost.

"Ohh, Ava...your room is 2B, second floor" the woman spoke and she said nothing and just walked into the building.
