SSS Ranked Taboo Student

Chapter 177: - Centre of Attention

"Check out the Ranking!"

Max was so absorbed admiring the architecture of Central Atrium, when a loud shout broke his attention and drew the attention of everyone else.

'As guessed, there's always a town crier.'

Despite the marginal difference between the way Elites did things, there were things that couldn't be changed.

Max followed the source of the voice, the girls around him did too.

A brown-haired youth, wearing a big designer sweater and shoes with glowing lights, waved his phone in the air.

There was a brief pause of activities in the lobby for a moment before everyone reacted and brought out their phone.

Beside him, Max noticed the girl with fluffy hairband that had her hair packed in a ponytail also brought out her phone.

The moment after, the atmosphere became pin-drop silent.

"What's it?"

Those who didn't bring out their phones or had it on them turned to their companions who froze in disbelief.

Beside him, Evelyn and the other girls gathered around the girl with a pink band. Only to freeze in disbelief a moment later.

Whilst Max could only watch as the atmosphere became heated and about to erupt.

"Max?" Evelyn called out his name, her voice clouded in confusion and disbelief while taking a step back.

"... Rider?"

The rest of the girls silently turned to him like they were about to choke on their breath.

'Huh?'

Now it was Max's turn to be confused.

Those who had seen him enter the Central Atrium moments earlier also gazed at him like… a monster.

"Holy Bunny!"

"No way."

"Is this even possible?"

The current scene in the Central Atrium was like a slow bubble of words. One by one, people began to regain their senses, asking the same question while their companions were yet to recover.

"What is it?" Max confusedly raised his brow in response to their disbelieving gaze.

Brielle also looked confused since she hadn't been able to glance at the phone screen but the next moment she did. Because the girl with the pink-haired band stretched out her hand to show Max what was on the screen.

"Is this an error?" Brielle muttered when she saw it, unable to comprehend the reality of what it meant.

"SS Rank? Screw this school, I'm transferring."

"There's no way this is happening."

"Are they trying to tell us that a fucker we've known nothing about for the past two years comes and then surpasses us with barely a month of Fame?"

The whole Atrium turned noisy with curses being hurled at the school authorities.

"You became an SS?" Evelyn finally brought herself to ask.

"Hmmm– yes."

Though it had been a big deal for him too when he advanced, Max didn't expect that it would be much of a bigger deal.

His casual acceptance of the fact left the four other girls speechless.

To become an S-Ranked Elite was what every Elite Metropolitan Senior Highschool student dreamt of the instant they got accepted into the school.

Many took two years to fulfill this dream. The exceptionally brilliant ones did it in their first Senior, with those higher than that already an Elite on their first day of senior high.

And that's where the real hurdle begins.

An Elite, though given so much freedom, were expected to perform more than their best.

Tests were incredibly difficult with field ones taking the most of it.

With this criteria in place, 'S Elite' became the bus stop for about eighty percent of Elites.

Of the remaining twenty percent that managed to advance, fifteen percent give up on advancing. Two percent strive, with three percent advancing.

That was how brutal advancement was.

And now to think Max from nowhere skipped two major Ranks. Not just that. He also became number 10 on the SS Ranking which had twenty Elites in total. Five ranks behind his sister who was in her third year.

"Look, that's him." A voice cried out loud, pointing at the edge of Atrium, where Max and six other girls stood.

"Ehn? He's gotten a harem that quick?"

"No, can't you recognise them? That's his sister, Evelyn, Alicia fourth on the SS Ranking. Those three are also 11, 12, 13."

"What about the youngest girl?"

"What do I look like to you?"

"Tell us your secret!" Another said out loud.

They all heard the news earlier, about Max surprisingly being one of the newest batch of S Elites. Though a surprise, being an S-Ranked Elite wasn't much if it would take you nearly a year to advance to the next Rank. Within such time, Max's steam would cool off and so would the achievement of bearing an SS Elite up.

Like many others, he was famous but would not be taken seriously.

And they all thought that was going to be it until this moment when they saw his Ranking.

An achievement never seen or heard of. Two Elite Rank Up at once.

Max's gaze turned cold, sensing several jealous, hostile gazes.

"Let's go."

Temporarily suppressing her own shock and happiness, Evelyn initiated that they should leave.

"Let's head to the form."

Alicia, who hadn't spoken all this while, finally spoke up after throwing a split secretive glance at Max.

In their company, the jealous attention Max felt became more clouding.

Some even said he was the Principal's secret child.

"The Elite base is such fuss because of you. On your first day." Evelyn said as they walked, turning through the randomly branched passage.

"... My bad."

Taking a moment to reply, Max shook his head.

"Oh, I think you're very cool."

The girl with the second most black luscious hair said, throwing a smile.

"I don't advise you to flirt with my brother, Jane."

However, she was quickly chewed by Evelyn who hooked arms with Max.

They were getting closer to the female side of the form, so it was mostly girls on their way.

Most curiously drawn to his unknown identity since they hadn't heard of what happened at the Atrium.

"We are here."
