Chapter 40: Meeting the Aruzans
Over the course of the next 10 years, the Imperium has developed at a speed where it far surpasses the initial projections. Many of the Progenitors believed that it would take more than 2 decades to achieve the amount of development that they were currently at. However, Daimon and his powerful influence with the population increased the development speed a ton.
Veldari cities were transformed into massive metropolises, beacons of innovation, art, and culture. It was as if the entire planet had been embraced by a wave of enlightenment brought on by Daimon's wisdom through the Force.
The people thrived more than ever under this new regime. Poverty was eradicated, education and medical care improved dramatically, and crime rate plunged to nearly zero. The genuine unity that had been mere words in a speech had now become a reality.
During the 3rd year, Daimon created the Immortal Legion, which will be his own personal legion of soldiers who will serve as Imperial Guards and soldiers. Unlike the Force Scions and the members of the Order of the Balance Keepers, the members of the Immortal Legion will be non-Force users who will be augmented and trained for one purpose which was war.
The requirements for joining the Immortal Legion were rigorous. Those who signed up would undergo the most intense physical and psychological training that the Imperium could offer. They had to demonstrate absolute loyalty to the God-Emperor and his vision for the Imperium, and unwavering courage in the face of adversity.
Only then, upon successful completion of this training, would they become fully-fledged members of the Legion, their bodies and minds enhanced through Daimon's gene-seed and other cutting-edge technology to further improve their abilities.
There were around a total of 1 million people who had signed up to be a part of the Immoral Legion, which was much more than Daimon expected and way over the number of spots which were open.
Because of resource limitations only 100k people were accepted into the Immortal Legion. The rest were encouraged to serve in other capacities.
The training and transformation of the Immortal legion was planned over the course of 5 years. During these five years, the Immortal Legion was shaped into an irresistible force of disciplined soldiers. They were outfitted with cybernetic enhancements and Daimon's Gene-seed, which increased their strength and speed and were equipped with a range of powerful weapons from the Imperium's growing armory.
During the 5th year, Daimon established the first 12 Imperial Amendments. The first Amendment, 'The Supreme Authority & Governance Amendment', grants the Emperor ultimate authority within the Imperium. Citizens may petition the government for grievances and reforms. Once expansion begins, Daimon will add more to this amendment.
The second Amendment, 'The Rights & Duties of Citizenship Amendment', establishes Citizenship as both a privilege and a duty where rights are earned through service and loyalty to the Imperium. Basic rights granted to citizens established Freedom of Speech (within reason), fair trials, and the right to personal enterprise. The duties of Citizens involved, Service to the Imperium (military, civil, or labor) and adherence to its laws. Non-citizens may earn full rights through service, education, or economic contribution.
The Third Amendment, 'The Balance of Power Amendment', emphasized that Power must be centralized for strength but decentralized for efficiency. This allowed Governors and Sector Lords to have semi-autonomy but must uphold Imperial law and economic policies.
The list went on and on as the first 12 Amendments were establishing the principles of governance, protection, and duties within the Imperium. The people saw the Amendments as the establishment of a hierarchal order under Daimon, and their belief was further reinforced as Daimon explained how the Amendments worked.
In the 6th year, the Imperium had already expanded to 13 nearby systems with only 1 of them containing another sentient species. Daimon had identified this species as the Aruzans, a species of small humanoid or Near-Human beings with faintly blue skin and dark, almost black, hair. They looked similar to the Chiss but still had very distinctive features between the two.
Since this was the first encounter with a new species, Daimon took it upon himself to pay a visit to the planet and make the Aruzans the first species to be integrated into the Imperium.
Arriving above Aruza with a small fleet, Daimon was walking to the shuttle bay with Cortana and Sera who decided to tag along. "So, how do you think this will go?" Sera asked.
"Daimon will probably just beat them into submission or just simply intimidate them with his size." Cortana Jokingly replied causing Sera to bust out laughing as well.
"Whilst that is my usual approach," Daimon said, turning to them with a chuckle, "I think this time around I'll try the diplomatic route first."
As the doors to the shuttle bay opened, they revealed the new shuttle that was just created for military use by the Imperial Ministry of Science and Technology. It had the logo of the Imperium on each side and could carry up to 40 people. Unlike the much bigger transport ships, it was designed for small troop deployments and special operations.
Daimon was the first to board the shuttle, followed by Sera, Cortana, and then members of the Immortals. Shortly after, the thrusters ignited, and the shuttle took off towards the surface of the planet with a small escort.
As they descended through the atmosphere of the planet, Daimon went over what information they had on the species. Preliminary scans showed that around 10 million Aruzans lived across the entire planet. Their society was mainly Feudal based, with no central government, and their technology level was at the industrial level.
In order to peacefully integrate them, Daimon planned to meet with one of these small Kingdoms, convince them that they are friendly, then establish a foothold on the world where he could begin influencing the people. After a while of being influenced and swayed, the world would eventually be fully controlled by Daimon and the species could be peacefully integrated into the Imperium.
After breaking through the atmosphere, Daimon's shuttle glided through the sky, attracting the attention of thousands of natives as he flew towards the capital city and only city of the Kingdom of Thulsar. This Kingdom was chosen due to its location, small population, and its situation.
The Imperium had already deciphered its language, using the Force to translate their language into the Imperial language. Utilizing this knowledge, they were able to learn a lot.
The name of the King of Thulsar was King Talmaril, a wise man, known for his desire to progress his kingdom and enhance the quality of life for his people. Seeing all of this, Daimon made the decision that he would be the easiest King to reason with and manipulate.
Touching down on a hill just outside of the city's limits, the shuttle attracted the attention of dozens of locals. They had never seen such advanced technology before, not in their lifetimes at least.
A few Raptor fighters had flown overhead, capturing even more of the people's attention. The Immortals had spread out, forming a circle around the shuttle and Daimon in case the natives tried anything. They started to back away, seeing the towering soldiers approaching them.
Instead of walking to the Palace, Daimon had waited as he sensed that the King was already aware of their presence and had dispatched some soldiers already.
The crowd was filled with murmurs and hushed whispers as the King's soldiers approached. Clad in primitive amor, bearing kinetic weapons, they moved cautiously towards the shuttle. The sight before them was unlike anything they had ever encountered, towering warriors encased in what they saw as metal armor, standing in disciplined formation, their presence made the King's soldiers feel threatened.
King Talmaril had sent twenty of his elite guards, along with his chief advisor, Lord Edras, to greet the visitors and asses their intentions. The group exited their vehicles and approached carefully. Edras warily eyed Daimon before speaking.
"You arrive in great spectacle, traveler," Edras said. "Where do you come from, as we have not seen people like you before." Edras didn't even know if they could understand him, so when Daimon spoke in his language he was surprised.
"I come from a place far away from here, but I do not come here to offend the King," he declared. "I seek audience with King Talmaril to discuss the future of his kingdom, one where Thulsar will prosper beyond its current limitations." Daimon explained using the Force to manipulate Edras.
The Aruzans, much like many other species were not resistance to mind control techniques, thus he was completely captured by Daimon's words. "The King will hear your words. But be warned, he is not a man easily swayed."
Daimon nodded, as Edras motioned for him to follow. The delegation led Daimon and his chosen retinue, Sera Cortana, and four Immortals, through the streets of Thulsar. The city itself, primitive by Imperial standards, was severely lacking, probably due to the fact that they were isolated.
As they neared the palace gates, Daimon felt the King's presence within. A mind filled with experience, wisdom, and the weight of responsibility. A mind that could be influenced.
The throne room was grand, adorned with intricate tapestries depicting the Kingdom's history. King Talmaril sat upon a raised throne of polished obsidian, his expression full of curiosity but also anxiousness at the sudden arrival of these massive figures. His Kingdom already had enemies on all sides, now this happens, and he doesn't know if these people are friendly nor where they come from.
He is a wise man in his early sixties, his eyes filled with a sense of desperation as Daimon walked forward. "King Talmaril, my name is Emperor Daimon." Daimon said not even bowing his head. This caused a nearby guard to speak up, "Show respect for our King! he barked, hand reaching for his weapon at his side.
These were foreigners who dared not bow their heads at the King. However, when he took a step forward towards the Immortals, for some reason his body had frozen in place. He didn't know what happened, but he couldn't move.
In the presence of the Immortals, his body refused to obey his commands. Their innate presence was overwhelming for those not prepared for it. The guard fell to his knees, an expression of bewilderment fixed on his face.
"Stay your hand, soldier," King Talmaril commanded, his voice filled with authority yet also a sense of unease. "I welcome you, Emperor Daimon, to Thulsar," the king said.
"I thank you for your hospitality," Daimon returned with a nod of his head. Sera and Cortana stood behind him observing their surroundings and this new culture which they were about to interact with. King Talmaril gestured to seats across from him. "Please, sit."
Daimon obliged, taking a seat across from the King. "Now," King Talmaril started, "you claim desire to discuss my Kingdom's future."
Daimon smiled as he began to provide the King with everything that he needed to make his Kingdom great. The offer was for prosperity, protection, and advancement beyond limitation. Considering the Kingdom's current situation, the King was a little skeptical at first, but after some subtle mind tricks, he came around to be favorable of the idea.
He had the king fully dancing at the palms of his hands, which would make things much easier for the future. At the end of the discussions, it was established that an embassy could be set up here within the city.
Meanwhile, several hundred miles away from the Kingdom of Thulsar, Daimon had another expedition of troops setting up a small outpost near a few Kingdoms in order to start setting up a strong presence on the planet. His plan for meeting with King Talmaril was to use his Kingdom to eventually unite the entire planet under that Kingdom's rule. The Kingdom would be fully controlled by Daimon and would join the Imperium once it had control over the planet.
King Talmaril, while old, had a daughter who was in line to inherit the Throne as the first born, however, this would anger her brothers who would likely start a revolt and try to take over the Kingdom. Before this happens, Daimon will create a positive image with the King's daughter and once she takes power, assist her in putting down her brothers and re-gaining control of the Kingdom.
After the war, the Kingdom would be too weak to resist his influence and would allow him to subjugate the Kingdom without having to even fight or mind control the entire population.
