Strongest Demigod System

Chapter 17: Practice

[Atomic Freeze] has been activated.

A chill went down from Azrael's fingertips into his arm and up to his forearm and Azrael quickly stopped the chill before it could get to his body. The bathroom grew colder instantly and when Azrael let out a breath, he could see that his breath came out as fog!

Azrael opened his palm just like he had seen Francis doing before and summoned a ball of water, and the water appeared over his palm before freezing over immediately!

Azrael hummed as he realized that the water couldn't stay in its liquid form no matter what he did. That meant that this skill worked by instantly freezing any liquid that the user used it on. Azrael would have to work on forming the water into the shape he wanted before it froze over.

The ball was still floating in the air above Azrael's palm and when Azrael shifted his palm to the left, the ball floated through the air and followed his command like a drone! Azrael used his mind to shift the water in the other direction, but Azrael didn't have that much control over the block of ice and it ended up shooting off at high speeds and slamming into the ceramic tiles on the wall of the bathroom!

Slam!

The ice shattered into a million pieces and Azrael grimaced as he saw a large dent appear on the wall!

Fuck! The matron was going to kill him.

Knock! Knock!

"Boss, Matron is calling us for breakfast! We need to use the bathroom!"

Azrael turned as one of the boys outside the room knocked on the bathroom door to tell Azrael that he had been spending too much time in there, but the boy's voice was very respectful and he used the excuse of the Matron calling them for breakfast to make sure Azrael knew he wasn't just disturbing him for nothing.

There was one time when there were a lot of disputes in the room. There were more than ten boys staying in this one room and they were all young and hot-blooded, so it was obvious that many of them would try and assert dominance so that the others would know that they were the leaders in the room. At first, Azrael didn't involve himself in it because he thought that it was stupid. But after a particular day when some of the boys took Azrael's dinner and said that it was his payment as one of the underlings, Azrael realized that he was going to be used as a doormat if he didn't stand up for himself.

That day, Azrael changed his mindset and he beat the shit out of every single boy in the room and made them recognize him as the new leader.

Even though he didn't have a God Aspect, his mortal strength was so much greater than everyone else in the orphanage that it was impossible for them to try and challenge him. After that day, every other boy in the room started to call Azrael boss as a form of respect and Azrael just allowed it since he didn't care what they called him. So long as they didn't try to fuck with him.

Azrael spoke calmly and told the boys to wait for him to finish and the boy on the other side of the door quietly went away and allowed Azrael to do whatever he was doing.

Azrael scrolled away from his God Aspects and he looked at the third tab that had appeared on his system after yesterday. This tab showed his Divine Core and its ranking and Azrael smiled when he saw that he gained 45 Divine Essence from the boys he killed yesterday. But then Azrael's brow furrowed when he saw that he had 60 Divine Essence points from the system. Wasn't it meant to be 45?

...

Divine Core Rank: F Rank

Divine Core DE Capacity: 60/150 DE

...

The system immediately brought up another tab explaining this.

[When a Divine Core is activated, the user immediately gains 10% of the Divine Essence that should be within the core. This 10% serves as the user's core base and every Divine Essence gained afterward is added to this 10%]

[It should also be noted that upon the death of a divine being, the 10% gained by the killer is the same 10% that had been serving as the user's core base.]

 …

Oh, so that's what happened.

Azrael was able to immediately understand what had happened when he read through the description. Since Azrael never had a core before, he just didn't understand most of the things that the other children spoke about when they were discussing their powers. Azrael had heard the term Core Base before, but he didn't think it would be something like this.

At least, Azrael now knew why he had more Divine Essence than he should.

Azrael had been worried if he would be able to gain any Divine Essence from killing Francis and his friends. According to the Divine Enforcers website, Divine Essence was something that you only gained after killing Daemons and there was no indication that you would gain anything from killing humans.

But it was obvious that they were wrong. Did they leave out this information from the website on purpose? Maybe they just didn't want to create a situation where desperate demigods go around killing other demigods for power?

That was very possible.

One of the main reasons why the demigods under the gods of darkness were being ostracized by the other demigods was because of how many murderers and criminals came from these demigods. Azrael now realized that those demigods under the gods of darkness might have also seen the opportunity to gain more strength by killing their fellow demigods! That must be why they became murderers!

The Divine Essence gotten from any divine being is always one-tenth of what that Divine Being's core possesses. For example, an F rank core had a capacity of 150 units of Divine Essence, so if you kill a being with that core, you will gain 15 units of Divine Essence and an E Rank core has a capacity of 500 units of Divine Essence, so killing a Divine Being with an E Rank core would give you 50 units of Divine Essence.

After gaining one-tenth of the Divine Essence from the Divine Being, the amount of Divine Essence that would be absorbed by your core depends on your Divine Potential. As someone who had an EX potential which gave him 100% Divine essence absorption, Azrael's Divine Essence gains were multiplied by [1], so he did not suffer any losses from his core.

But someone with an S rank Divine potential would have their Divine Essence gains multiplied by a number between [0.8] and [0.71], which meant that they would gain less Divine Essence than Azrael.

That is why Divine Potential was regarded as something so important. The Divine Potential would dictate how quickly you can fill up the Divine Core by killing Daemons, and the faster you can fill up your Divine Core, the faster you can improve your God Aspect to become stronger.

Someone with an F Rank in Divine Potential would have all their Divine Essence gains multiplied by a number between [0] and [0.2], this sort of person had no chance of becoming strong enough to fight at their full potential even if they trained for the rest of their lives.

Hard work? Dedication?

All of that was important, but in front of true talent, it was pointless. The potential you possess right from birth would determine how far you can go in life. That was the cruel reality of this world.
