Strongest Demigod System

Chapter 20: Class Argument

As Maddison got closer, Azrael narrowed his eyes at her when she kept looking at him. Azrael didn't have any form of relationship with Maddison, and even though he knew that she wouldn't mind being his friend, he didn't want to become friends with someone just because they were both outcasts. That was the stupidest way to form a friendship.

When Maddison finally got close enough, she spoke up while trying to take the scowl off her face.

"I didn't see you after gym yesterday. Did you leave early?"

Azrael scoffed at her question.

"How is that any of your business?"

Maddison seemed a little shocked by the sheer bite in Azrael's tone, but she didn't say anything in response. She just shook her head to tell him that it didn't matter anymore and left to the class ahead of him.

Azrael watched Maddison go with a critical gaze as he assessed everything about her. Maddison was a beautiful girl and she had a figure that most girls would kill for at her age, but she was not popular because of who her Celestial Guardian was and she had an introverted and anti-social attitude that drove most people away. From both the current interaction as well as the interaction they had yesterday, Azrael was now sure that Maddison at least wanted to become friends with him.

But why?

Was she so starved for companionship that she would latch onto the first person who seemed like he understood her? Azrael didn't know if Maddison was that sort of person, but the fact that Maddison asked him about yesterday made him start paying more attention to her. There was no chance she had seen what he did. Azrael made sure there were no people around when he killed Francis and his friends, but what happens if she is able to figure it out?

'I was at the gym yesterday. I left very late at night. The next morning, Francis and his friends were found dead.'

Wasn't this too much of a coincidence to overlook? Azrael decided that since Maddison had brought up the gym, he would have to keep an eye on her for now at least. If it turns out that Maddison was only trying to be his friend, then he would leave her alone. Azrael had no need for friends.

But if she was actually suspicious and she continued digging into things, then Azrael might just have to kill her too.

Azrael continued through the gates and took one of the shuttles inside the school to get to the main high school academic building. The school was so large that it would take him more than thirty minutes to walk from the gate to the academic building, so most of the students always took the shuttle since it was free.

The high school academic building held four floors, with each floor above the ground floor holding one of the three years, and the ground floor being the student courtyard and cafeteria. The first years were on the very top floor, and Azrael took the elevator up before walking to the classroom.

"I said take that back, you fool! How can you say something like that!? Someone died and you're making jokes!"

"Hey, if he can't even handle some random killer, then did he deserve to be one of the kings? I don't think so. Didn't you hear what the news said? They said the death happened in a way that didn't show any signs of fighting back. That means the so-called King didn't even try to fight for his life 'cause he was scared."

"Will you shut up already?"

They seemed very spirited this morning.

Ka-Cha.

Azrael opened the door leading into the class, and nearly everyone turned to look at him. The classroom was large enough to hold more than a hundred students. The chairs were arranged on stairs, with the seats in front being low to the ground and those at the top being very high up the stairs.

In the middle of the room, most of the students were gathered around three students who seemed to be arguing about what happened to Francis. Two of them were girls. One of the girls looked to be on the verge of tears as she hid behind the other girl, and Azrael immediately recognized the crying girl as Francis' girlfriend.

Or, was that ex-girlfriend now?

Her name was Tiana and she was a child of Freya who had the ability to converse with animals of all kinds. She had green hair and dark emerald eyes that seemed to shine in the room from her tears.

Tiana looked like someone had assaulted her, and the other girl was serving as a shield to protect her from the boy that they were having an argument with. The boy had white hair and red eyes, and Azrael recognized him as Gerald Gaye. He was the brother of Sunny Gaye, who was also regarded as one of the Kings in their year.

Gerald was a child of Artemis, and he had a strong God Aspect that would make him one of the more powerful demigods in their time, but Azrael could clearly see that there was an inferiority complex present in Gerald's heart. Although Gerald was strong, his twin brother Sunny was stronger. Gerald only had a B Rank in Divine Potential while Sunny had an S Rank, so it wasn't surprising that Gerald would feel inferior to Sunny.

And that inferiority complex always showed itself in the form of cruelty. Gerald wasn't a bully, but he had the sharpest and most brutal tongue among all the students. He could insult your dead grandmother in front of you, and since he was also powerful, there was nothing most students would be able to do about it!

Azrael was able to figure out everything that had happened in the room once he entered. Tiana had been crying about Francis, and Gerald began to say something cruel. The other girl tried to stand up for Tiana since Tiana wasn't the sort of person to stand up for herself, and this only made Gerald gain more confidence as he said more cruel things about Francis.

This was Gerald's first opportunity to look down on one of the perfect Kings, so of course, Gerald wasn't going to let it pass without milking it for everything!

Gerald was sitting in his chair with his legs up on the table. His hands were behind his head, and he sneered at the two girls in front of him. After Azrael entered the room, everyone had paid attention to him for only a few seconds. Azrael was worried that there would be some sort of reaction to him being there, but thankfully, they didn't pay attention to him for long before they turned back to their quarrel.

"That fucker didn't even manage to get an S Rank like the other Kings. He was just a filthy A Rank after all the hype! You sure he didn't go off himself 'cause of the fucking disappointment he felt?"

The girl in front of Tiana felt her entire head growing red from anger!

"You fool! Don't say things like that about a dead person!"

"Hey, shut up."

A voice spoke from the other side of the classroom, and everyone turned to a boy who was resting his head on the desk. The boy had brown hair and a massive build that made him look more like an 18-year-old than the 16-year-old he was. The entire class took a collective step back as the boy raised his head and glared at those quarreling.

"The next person that shouts is going to have to deal with me."

The class went silent from the threat.
