Chapter 94: Enforcers Facility
When they came out on the other side, Azrael felt his eyes widen.
Were they in a Divine Enforcers facility?
The building they walked into was enormous, far larger than the building outside could contain, and there were men and women carrying weapons and moving around calmly while talking to each other.
There were also some people wearing lab coats and taking readings from a strange podium that was embedded into the ground in front of them, and beyond the podium sat a crack in space.
A Tear in the Veil.
Azrael immediately recognized the crack for what it was.
This was the same thing that he had seen before he was attacked by a daemon a week ago.
Was this the Veil boundary?
"Where are we?"
Azrael asked this as Cleopatra started to walk forward and Cleo explained things to him while urging him to follow her.
"This is one of the Veil Tears all around the world. You know when there is an excess of Divine Essence in a place, a tear forms in the veil and some Daemons are capable of getting through, right?"
Azrael nodded at the common knowledge, and Cleo continued.
"Well, the large gathering of Demigods here makes for a serious influx of Divine Essence. There have been many Veil Tears in this Alley and the Divine Enforcers decided that it would be best to build a facility around the region that was most likely to experience a Veil Tear and keep any daemons that come out contained. The scientists are here to make sure that the Tear doesn't close up and form somewhere else, and the demigods here are all low-ranking members of the Divine Enforcers that were assigned to this Tear."
Cleopatra spoke about the entire situation like something ordinary that was below her consideration, and Azrael figured that to someone like her, something like this was definitely low-level.
Cleopatra was going to be heading into the Null Zone very soon, so the demigods that were here guarding a simple Tear in the veil were seen as beneath her.
Cleopatra headed for a door at the side of the facility, and they entered a long white hallway.
They walked down the hall until they got to the end where a door opened to reveal a large circular room with white walls. There was a man talking to one of the scientists in the middle of the room.
"- So make sure you get the exact number for the exercise. They'll come for them tomorrow, so prepare everything before then."
The scientist nodded and left, and the man then turned to look at Cleopatra.
"Well, I'll be… I didn't think I'd see your face again after so long, Cleo. Here to release more pent-up stress?"
Cleopatra smiled at the man's inside joke before she brought Azrael forward.
"No, actually. I came here for my junior this time."
The man hummed and scanned Azrael from head to toe before rubbing a hand on his chin.
"Seems pretty low-ranked, doesn't he? Are you sure he can do it?"
Cleopatra nodded.
"Yeah, he can. Do you have a katana he can borrow?"
"Yeah, one of the Demigods should have one. Hey, Bruce, get me a fuckn' katana!"
The man shouted out to someone, and a voice answered back that they would get right on it.
Azrael was at a complete loss for what was going on. He turned to Cleopatra and asked her what she was talking about, and Cleopatra smiled mysteriously before answering.
"You're going to have your first biweekly training exercise on Saturday, right?"
Azrael nodded.
"Well, I don't think you're ready for it. This training exercise is the first time that Scar will allow you guys to use your God Aspects without any limitation, so the top students will have an upper hand. Since you don't have a God Aspect, you can only rely on your mortal strength to get a good score."
Azrael was still not catching everything that Cleopatra was trying to tell him, and before he could ask another question, the man that was sent out, Bruce, came back with a long 1.5-meter katana in his hand.
Cleopatra frowned at the length.
"Is this too long?"
She asked curiously, and Azrael shook his head.
"It's no problem. But are you at least going to tell me what I'm fighting?"
"What do you think you're fighting?"
"Daemons?"
Cleopatra nodded and then started to head out of the room along with the men. She waved back at Azrael while talking.
"I'll explain more after you're done. For now, just kill anything that comes through that door and try to raise your mortal stats as much as possible."
Azrael watched them go before he turned to look at the door on the other side of the room. There was an ominous feeling in his heart as he realized that there were daemons on the other side of that door.
Why was Cleopatra trying to make him kill daemons?
Was she really just trying to prepare him for Saturday?
Azrael didn't have time to think about that before the door opened and revealed a monster on the other side.
The Lesser daemon growled as it sniffed around the room curiously. Its four arms searched the ground in front of it for any form of food, and it released a low shriek as it tried to listen for any signs of movement in the room.

Azrael prepared his sword with narrowed eyes.
He took the blade out from the sheath and tossed the sheath to the side far away from him!
Thud!
SHRIEK!
The monster shrieked at the top of its lungs as it charged straight for where the sheath landed, and Azrael wasted no time as he followed after the beast!
The Lesser Daemon grew confused for a moment when it noticed that something was following beside it, and it immediately swiped with one of its four arms to try and take it out, but Azrael was already prepared for that as he ducked under the slash!
Azrael turned and swung the blade at the monster's arm while adjusting his body to account for the extra length that the blade had!
Azrael was used to fighting with meter-long katanas, so this new 1.5-meter katana should have messed up his fighting style, but Azrael had an S+ rank in Battle Instinct, which meant that his adaptability and skill in battle were far higher than most people!
Adjusting his body and stance to fit the new weapon wasn't difficult for him at all!
The blade slashed across the monster's skin and only dug past the surface before it stopped when it hit hard muscle!
Azrael cursed at the blunt weapon and forcefully pulled out his sword before the monster sent another swipe at his head!
Azrael rolled forward and slid to a stop, and the Lesser Daemon wasted no time as it charged for him with its large, jagged teeth poised to tear him apart!
Azrael dashed to the side!
Azrael was a lot faster than he had been when he first fought against a Lesser Daemon, so the Daemon didn't stand a chance against his new speed!
The monster's slash struck the ground, and Azrael changed directions and headed back towards it!
