Chapter 1133: After Story 9: A Dream Come True [Part 1]

Aenon Kingdom…

"You're truly beautiful, My Princess," a prince from the neighboring Kingdom said as he gazed at Princess Wilhelmina with a smile.

"I heard I am one of the two candidates your father picked to be your husband. I don't know who the other person is, but I promise to make you happy if you choose to marry me."

Princess Wilhelmina sighed internally, but she made sure to keep the smile on her face, so their guests wouldn't be offended.

He was the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Felecia, Prince Orion.

The Aenon Kingdom and the Kingdom of Felecia had been long-standing allies for hundreds of years.

They had multiple trade agreements with each other, and the only thing missing to further solidify their alliance was a marriage between their royal families.

The prince was quite a handsome merman, and his reputation was very good as well.

Princess Wilhelmina had no complaints when it came to his looks, background, and character.

The only reason she was still hesitating to accept the marriage proposal was the young man and the little girl who always plagued her dreams.

The adorable little girl had short blue hair and blue eyes that mirrored her father's features.

However, her mermaid's tail was red, similar to Wilhelmina's mermaid tail.

She was no doubt her daughter. At least, that was what she believed.

But a dream was just a dream.

No matter how many times she saw this dream in her sleep, she knew it wouldn't become a reality.

When she and her family subtly probed about it, they confirmed that the Prince of Atlantis no longer wished to marry.

At most, he would simply have concubines belonging to the two Protector Clans for the sake of political stability.

Her father wouldn't allow her to become a concubine because that was beneath her rank.

This stance turned more iron-clad when Princess Ariel married Godfrey, who was the son of the Vampire Progenitor.

As a member of the Trinity of the three legendary Mermaid Princesses, King Aenon deemed that her daughter mustn't cling to the past.

He wanted her to forget about Ethan, whom she had a crush on.

In fact, in order to make the transition easier, he even procured a special potion that would make his daughter forget the last person she liked.

King Aenon gave this to Princess Wilhelmina and told her that it was up to her whether she would take the potion or not.

At the very least, that decision should be in her hands.

'Maybe it's really time to stop clinging to the past,' Princess Wilhelmina thought as soon as her guest had left, leaving her alone to ponder her decision. 'Maybe Prince Orion and I will be happy together.'

The Mermaid Princess took out the potion from her pouch and looked at it with a determined expression on her face.

The potion was silver in color, and it was called Lover's Regret.

It was a powerful potion that would make someone forget the last person they loved, so they could move on with their lives and start over.

There had been many instances when these potions had been used in the past.

Her own father had used it to forget the person he loved, so he could focus on making the Aenon Kingdom prosper.

Fortunately, her mother and father had lived a happy life together. This was also the reason why Princess Wilhelmina wasn't too adverse to the notion of using the potion to forget Ethan.

'We can still be friends,' Princess Wilhelmina thought as she gripped the potion tightly. 'Things will just return back to the way they are. No one needs to get hurt anymore.'

After taking a few deep breaths in order to calm herself, the Mermaid Princess finally removed the cork on the potion and prepared to drink it.

But just as she was about to do that, the potion moved away from her hands and flew outside of her window.

"Ah!" Princess Wilhelmina gasped in shock when she saw the person floating outside her window.

"Who are you trying to forget, Wilhelmina?" Ethan asked as he crushed the potion and burned its contents despite the fact that they were underwater.

"I-It has nothing to do with you," Princess Wilhelmina replied.

Ethan sighed before entering the window without permission.

He only stopped when he was a meter away from Princess Wilhelmina, who was looking at him with a conflicted look on her face.

"Wilhelmina, do you like me?" Ethan asked.

"Why are you asking me this question?" Princess Wilhelmina asked back.

"It's because I like you," Ethan replied. "And I don't want to give you to anyone else."

"W-What?!" Princess Wilhelmina thought that she had misheard the words that came out of Ethan's mouth.

However, before she could say anything, the young man took a step forward and hugged her tightly.

"Listen," Ethan said softly. "I know this may sound weird, but I don't want to have any regrets. I saw you and our future daughter as one of my future possibilities. Back then, I didn't think much about it because I thought it was fine if I turned a blind eye to it.

"But as time passed, I don't know how to truly feel about you. I don't want that future vision to affect my decision-making on whether I should marry you or not.

"This is why whenever you visit, I try to stay away. I was afraid I might make the wrong choice and do something I will regret in the future. In the end, I realized it was me being afraid of making a difficult choice."

Ethan hugged Princess Wilhelmina tighter, not wanting to let her go.

"When I heard you are being forced to marry, I knew that I needed to come here to prevent that from happening," Ethan added. "I'm sorry. It's just me being selfish. I'm not even thinking about how you feel about me right now. But, Wilhelmina, can you please give me a chance to love you?"

The young man reluctantly pulled back and looked at the Mermaid Princess with a determined expression on his face.

"I promise to do my best," Ethan said before kneeling like a knight while holding Princess Wilhelmina's hand. "So, will you please marry me?"

The mermaid princess covered her lips with one hand, tears starting to fall from her eyes.

She had dreamed of this scene many times in the past few years and hoped it would become a reality.

But now that it was finally happening, emotions crashed over her, and she couldn't hold back the tears that shimmered like pearls as they fell from her beautiful face.
