Chapter 498: Nathan's Suspicion
Evelyn brought Nathan back to the previous location.
Before Nathan left, Evelyn couldn't help but ask, "Where are you planning to set up the teleportation circle? In your house? And to where?"
"Hmmm…" Nathan thought for a moment. "I don't know yet. Having a teleportation circle inside my house is good, but I don't know if this is going to be a permanent one or not, considering there's a high chance we will be leaving this place soon.
"As for the target, it will be somewhere near the front line. This is just my speculation, but the aliens will be coming at full force. At that time, the front line will definitely get pushed back, which means I have to carefully place the teleportation circle. After all, I might have to change the location a bit."
Evelyn crossed her arms. "Front line? More aliens? What do you mean?"
"You should be aware of the aliens beyond the elite class, right?"
Evelyn's expression turned solemn. "Alpha and Apex?"
"Yes." Nathan raised two fingers. "First of all, the aliens are most likely smart or even smarter than us. They will see this opportunity to attack us and will send more aliens to us."
Evelyn thought for a moment. "That's possible, but if I'm not wrong, this is not the only time we're at our weakest. Humanity had experienced several disasters, so shouldn't the aliens attack at that time?"
"That was my original thought until I had more time to think about this problem." Nathan sighed. "Do you remember that I mentioned the land across the sea?"
"Hmm?" Evelyn raised her head. "Elaborate."
"I'm assuming that there are other lands across the sea. It might be one or more than one. Either way, there must be at least one.
"And if you think about it, shouldn't there be a human civilization in that place too? If we think about it, the possibility is pretty high.
"Just like how we were able to conquer this land in the past, it won't be weird to cross the ocean.
"However, this is the big problem. That supervolcano is on that land. What do you think will happen to them right now?"
Evelyn pondered for a moment. "The sound alone was like the biggest thunder I ever heard. If it was something near them, it was probably going to rupture their eardrums.
"That was the first impact. Considering it was a volcano, it would spew out clouds to the ground, carrying all kinds of heavy materials together with the lava.
"Due to the size of the eruption, it was most likely to wipe out a huge area, if not an entire kingdom, and damage other areas as well.
"It was basically enough to destroy the civilization on that land alone."
Nathan nodded. "And now think about the ash cloud. We are lucky enough to find a solution to solve the food problem, but how about other lands besides the one with the supervolcano on it?"
"They might not be so lucky. They would be weakened because of the food problem, and the people would start dying. Are you saying that these people have actually been fighting with us to fight the aliens this whole time?" Evelyn's body shook.
"Yeah. I believe so. In other words, the fight against the aliens has been on multiple fronts this whole time, not just on this land but on other lands as well.
"In that case, what do you think will happen when those other lands are unable to fight back due to the disaster?"
"!!!" Evelyn's face darkened. "The aliens that are allocated to those lands will be focused on us.
"If the aliens are smart, they will send some aliens first toward us. This initial attack will allow the aliens to study our condition. Once they manage to gain an advantage, they will continue pushing forward.
"If the aliens end up destroying the rest of the civilizations, all those aliens will go straight to us.
"In other words, as time passes, more and more aliens will come here. And when they're able to focus on us alone, the alpha and apex class aliens might finally make their move. Before that, there will be an increased number of elite class aliens."
Nathan nodded. He only speculated on the movements of the aliens previously due to his premonition-like dream, but he could finally see the reason that was much more acceptable than a dream.
The reasoning was so plausible that it felt like everything that was currently happening was explained.
"What is your plan then?"
"As I said, I will summon my fifth familiar or become a grandmaster within three to four months. Your next read is at empire
"And it won't be only me. I need others to do the same thing. With more aliens coming toward us, we will have to get stronger. The knights should be able to hold out with the magic weapons.
"This is the only way to resist the invasion." Nathan turned to Evelyn. "In fact, I should be the one asking you that question."
"What do you mean?"
"Is your revenge more important than world destruction?" Nathan asked.
"…" Evelyn looked down, unable to answer that question.
Nathan smiled. "If you can't answer that question, I can answer it for you."
Evelyn frowned. "What are you talking about?"
"You must have been fixated on revenge so much that you will realize that you have nothing left once you exact that revenge. You will not know what to do after that. Hence, the answer is simple.
"I will deliver the revenge that you want as quickly as possible, but after that, I'm not going to let you rot away after losing your purpose in life. Your ability is simply too good to rot somewhere no one knows.
"That's why I will become your world, your purpose." Nathan smiled. "Well, this is just my ambitious answer. It's not like you need to answer that question now.
"However, if you still don't have an answer after you're done with your revenge, come to me." Nathan waved his hand and just left her alone, letting her think about it.
