Super Game System-Otherworld King: Rise to Power

Chapter 25: Storms on the Horizon: The Shadows of War

Li Boshui spoke up, "Your Majesty, I believe the palace coup was not an overreaction. According to the intelligence, Ronald has secretly trained elite assassins and amassed a large arsenal of mortal-grade weapons. This shows he has been biding his time. Once he becomes more powerful, he'll be harder to control."

Emperor Qin Yongjun chuckled. "You've thought this through well. At this point, there's no turning back."

He shifted topics. "How are the tasks I assigned you proceeding?"

"Your Majesty," Li Boshui replied, "Our scouts report that the Yasha Tribe and the Elves have clashed fiercely in the eastern seas of Yunzhou. Both sides are mobilizing their forces. A major battle is imminent."

"Good job!" Qin Yongjun slammed his palm onto the desk. "Has anything been exposed?"

"We've covered our tracks," Li Boshui responded. "The Yasha Tribe and the Elves have always been at odds, so they won't suspect us. However, during the escort of the Elven princess, an unexpected incident occurred. She and our assassins were swept away by a water tornado on the Yun Cang River. It's likely..."

"Oh? And what do you think happened to the princess?" Qin Yongjun raised an eyebrow.

Li Boshui replied, "Water tornadoes are nearly impossible to survive, and there are magical beasts lurking in the Yun Cang River. If she fell into the river, she would have little chance of survival."

Qin Yongjun paused in thought. "Having the princess in hand might have been useful, but if the worst has happened, so be it. Continue monitoring the Elves. If war breaks out, inform me immediately."

"Understood, Your Majesty."

After Li Boshui left, Qin Yongjun stood up, stepping out of the study. He gazed at the clear blue sky above.

"Yunzhou has remained unchanged for centuries. It's time to stir things up..."

In the northern plains of the Yun Qin Empire, thousands of Yellow-tier tribes survived. Among them, the most powerful and dominant was the Minotaur tribe, a bull-headed people with immense strength.

The Minotaurs were a semi-nomadic people, relying on grazing and hunting magical beasts for survival. In times of famine, they would raid surrounding tribes or even venture south to invade human lands. However, in recent years, the Yun Qin Empire had grown stronger and its defenses more robust. The Minotaurs had not launched large-scale invasions for quite some time.

In one of the Minotaur tribe's camps, a ritual was underway before a hunt. Strong bull-headed warriors danced around the corpse of a giant magical beast.

The ritual lasted about half an hour before one of the warriors approached the grand elder, who wore an ancient, eerie mask. The younger warrior whispered something into the elder's ear.

The grand elder's face twisted in fury as he suddenly roared, "Has the human race become so bold? Do they think our warriors are all dead?!"

A senior Minotaur, visibly high-ranking in the tribe, asked, "Grand Elder, what has happened to make you so furious?"

"The despicable humans ambushed our caravan! Niu Qiangli and the twenty-five warriors sent out were all killed! The ten precious crystal cores we fought to obtain were stolen!"

"What?!" The warriors surrounding the grand elder erupted into chaos. They raised their weapons and began shouting for vengeance, demanding to march south and wipe out the humans.

The grand elder, however, knew that with only one tribe, a southward campaign would end in disastrous defeat. He shouted, "Immediately notify the other tribes of the plains! We will hold a meeting and discuss our next move!"

"Southward! Southward! Southward!" The ground shook with the deafening roars of the Minotaurs, as their battle cries echoed through the plains.
