Chapter 564: Chapter 565: An Unexpected Fierce Battle
With a loud "bang," the speed of the incoming figure was too fast, and there seemed to be a power on their body that restrained Grant. Without hesitation, Grant directly struck the figure away.
However, after sending the person flying, Grant realized that it was none other than Servis! The reason he felt a restraining power on Servis was due to Robert's trick, who deliberately left light-attribute energy on Servis to mislead Grant. As a result, Grant mistook Servis for an enemy, just as Robert had predicted.
Clark, standing nearby, was momentarily stunned as he saw Robert approaching. He hadn't expected that Robert, who was dealing with Servis, would also have plans to fight Grant.
"Go help them steady the battle. Kara is fine; after releasing her power, she can restrain that dark dimension strongman. The Martian Hunter doesn't have the power to restrain the dark dimension, but his phasing ability allows him to hold out," Robert said telepathically to Clark before he could speak.
"But the Avengers and Kamar-Taj will have a hard time. You should keep an eye on them, and if necessary, help them out. Leave these two to me!"
"Fine, you take the enemies. After all, I did take yours before, so consider it returned," Clark replied, not too concerned. This was partly because he didn't have much fighting desire and partly because he didn't see Grant as a threat despite his current power level.
Clark's figure flickered and disappeared from the spot. Grant thought he had found an opportunity and also attempted to leave, but just then, a glowing Robert appeared before him, sending Grant flying with a powerful punch.
To be honest, Robert and Kara's current forms resembled Captain Marvel Carol more than Super Saiyans; they were more like binary forms, with pure light radiating from their bodies rather than an aura. This light had a significant suppressive effect on dark dimension beings like Grant and Servis. Robert had encountered the shadow legion and the dark dimension's power before, and while the dark dimension might dislike light, it wasn't as restrained as the dark dimension.
In fact, Robert's strength was somewhat inferior to Servis or Grant. Even with his ascending power of the Great Ape's Fury, it would take him time to catch up. However, when Robert converted his energy into light that restrained the dark dimension, Servis alone was no match for him. To increase his pressure and ensure the Avengers and Kamar-Taj didn't fail, Robert had to take on Grant, originally Clark's opponent.
But to Clark, Grant wasn't much of an enemy. Given Clark's abilities, even a large-scale invasion from the dark dimension wouldn't be a problem. His suppressive effect would be terrifying.
When the time comes, even Ancient One might not surpass Clark in dealing with the dark dimension, despite her extensive experience with dimensional entities.
"Damn it! Why are they all so terrifying?" Grant, who was sent crashing into the ground, was bewildered by the strength of Earth's defenders. Despite having summoned so much power, he was still not their match.
Moreover, he hadn't even faced the renowned Ancient One yet. Just these two unknown figures had forced him into such a dire situation.
"Don't think about it. It's not just here in the Earth dimension; even our true forms in the dark dimension would struggle against them..." Nearby, Servis, lying in the rubble, spoke weakly. His injuries were far more severe than Grant's.
Servis was actually stronger than Grant, but the cost of descending into the Earth dimension was higher for Grant. Servis, having fought Robert longer, had taken countless blows, and the light attribute severely restrained his healing ability, leaving him in a miserable state.
"What now? Just wait here to die?" Grant knew Servis was right, but he couldn't accept it. After paying such a high price, if he gained nothing, he wouldn't survive back in the dark dimension, even if Hercules spared him.
"What else can we do? I didn't want to come to the Earth dimension in the first place. Hercules insisted, and now it's a trap. I even suspect those vampires were placed here to lure us in..." Servis shrugged, resigned to his fate.
Initially, seeing Grant and others arrive, Servis thought they could still fight. On Earth, the only ones Servis considered strong were Robert, Clark, and the Martian Hunter. If they could hold these three, they might capture Blade and Morbius. Capturing them would not only restore their power but even advance it further.
This was Servis's plan upon seeing Grant's group, but Robert had dashed those hopes. After Robert punched him towards Grant and then sent Grant flying underground, releasing Clark's power, Servis knew his plans had failed.
Even if the remaining four dark dimension beings fully descended, Earth's defenders would be too strong. Robert alone suppressed both of them, and Clark was even stronger. The rest couldn't hope to succeed.
Servis was no longer thinking about completing the mission. Instead, he worried about how to defend the dark dimension if Robert and Clark attacked it. Without fixing their dimension's weaknesses, Robert and Clark's suppressive effect was overwhelming. Even if Robert and Clark weren't stronger than their lord, their attributes would give the lord trouble.
To capture Blade and Morbius to fix their dimension's flaws, they had to face Robert and Clark, who restrained them, creating a paradoxical stalemate with no apparent solution. Servis even started blaming Hercules for insisting on this mission and for experimenting with scientific vampires on Earth. If Hercules had ignored Ancient One's threat, he might have died already, avoiding all this mess.
"Are you just going to lie there and wait to die?" Robert appeared deep underground, frowning at the prone forms of Servis and Grant. He had brought Grant here to see if combined, they could pressure him and show the dark dimension's full potential under restraint.
But Robert didn't expect Servis to give up so quickly, influencing Grant to do the same. Grant glared at Robert but didn't retaliate, likely realizing he couldn't win alone.
"Yes, we can't fight back. If you don't use restraining powers, we might stand a chance..." Servis said flatly, lying motionless, devoid of any vigor.
"Do all dark dimension beings give up at the first sign of difficulty?" Robert's light surged, exerting pressure. Grant instinctively wanted to fight back but stopped when he saw Servis's apathy, knowing he couldn't win alone.
"Fine, I won't use restraining powers. Are you both coming at me or..." Robert looked at Grant, who still had some fight left.
"Mm?!" Grant's hope reignited when he saw Robert's light dissipate. He charged at Robert, launching an attack.
Meanwhile, Servis continued lying there, even contemplating his slim chances of survival back in the dark dimension. Realizing his inevitable death, he lay flat, like a salted fish waiting to be cooked.
Servis, who had fought Robert before, knew Robert's desire for battle. Without the light attribute, Robert's strength would still grow and suppress Grant eventually. Winning against Robert in this state was impossible unless Servis helped, but then Robert would use his restraining power again, returning to square one.
Servis saw no difference; they'd still die, only giving Robert a satisfying fight. Deciding to stay down, Servis saw no benefit in fighting back.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
Elsewhere, Robert and Grant's battle raged. Without the light attribute, Robert was indeed weaker, falling behind even with his berserk fist activated. He sustained many injuries, unable to inflict much damage on Grant.
But this fight reignited Robert's battle spirit, making his blood boil. Despite the unexpected circumstances, Robert got the challenging battle he wanted.
"What's happening? This guy's getting more excited, and his power's rising. Does he have a masochistic streak?" Grant noticed Robert becoming more formidable without the light attribute, feeling an unsettling shift.
"Too young. You'll soon taste his unstoppable combos..." Servis muttered, watching the fight from his prone position, showing no intention of moving.
