Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 598: Chapter 596: Changes in the Earth's Dimension

At this moment, both Dr. Lizard and the lizard people were completely annihilated by Robert's ki blast, leaving no trace of their bodies. Robert wasn't concerned about the possibility of any innocent lizard people among them. When he led the Avengers out of the underground space, he had seen many official agents arriving and getting caught in the mutagenic gas, implying that these lizard people were once official agents. Therefore, Robert didn't treat them as ordinary civilians.

Indeed, there were more lizard people than the number of agents who had entered the underground space, but Robert's judgment was correct. After Dr. Lizard was severely injured, he had gathered the infected official agents around him, as they were his last hope for a comeback. Controlling these agents would provide him with funds and resources, potentially allowing him to influence the institutions behind them and further his goal of transforming humanity.

Unfortunately for Dr. Lizard, he met Robert, who didn't give him the chance to elaborate on his plans and quickly destroyed both his dreams and his body. Dr. Lizard had claimed that killing him would prevent the lizard people from reverting to their original forms, but Robert wasn't worried. He had faith in Tony Stark's scientific prowess and knew that the Avengers had more than one capable member.

While Tony Stark and Martian Manhunter had been struggling with the life-deficiency issues of vampires and werewolves, this was a problem that had troubled the dark dimension for ages. Even the tormented Hercules couldn't replicate another Morbius. Therefore, Tony Stark's slow progress didn't reflect a lack of ability. In fact, he had already reverse-engineered Dr. Lizard's initial formula after obtaining his lab data.

Reversing the new mutagenic gas formula didn't pose much difficulty for Tony Stark either. Although the gas was slightly more complex than the previous version, it was still manageable. With Martian Manhunter's help, the lizard people in the old city district were reverted back to normal humans. After learning that Robert had killed the infected agents, Tony Stark instructed Martian Manhunter to erase the memories of the transformed residents, removing their experiences of losing control as lizard people.

This was to protect the residents, as the Avengers remembered how the lives of the spider-people controlled by Nakshi had been severely affected. If left unchecked, these residents might accidentally reveal their transformations, attracting the attention of the official institutions. These institutions might then treat them as lab subjects, much like the spider-people.

Not all institutions had abandoned their research on beast-men, and the leaked information could reignite interest, leading even those who had ceased research to resume, fearing falling behind. Fortunately, with Martian Manhunter's abilities, Tony Stark ensured no lizard people escaped the frozen district, keeping the situation contained. As a result, the official institutions were unaware of the subsequent developments and only knew that their agents had been wiped out.

Naturally, this did not sit well with the institutions. While individually, they might fear the Avengers' power, together they could at least verbally challenge them. Steve Rogers handled these confrontations, leveraging the Avengers' strength to ensure he never lost a debate.

Nick Fury, on the other hand, was pleased by the institutions' losses, as it kept everyone on an even playing field, maintaining unity against the Avengers. However, he was slightly disappointed that no significant figures were lost, only some super soldiers and minor extraordinary individuals, which hardly crippled the institutions compared to S.H.I.E.L.D., which had lost the Hulk.

Meanwhile, the Avengers faced the dilemma of dealing with Otto's trauma. After his near-death experience, Otto was left fearful and demoralized, becoming sensitive and fragile. Even Martian Manhunter couldn't offer a perfect solution. Suppressing Otto's memory was one option but not a reliable one. Future crises might trigger a compounded trauma, further breaking his spirit.

Regardless of the method, Otto would likely never participate in supernatural battles again. His combat abilities were the weakest in the Avengers, even below Steve Rogers, who could defeat Otto with just a shield. Otto's mechanical arms would be ineffective against Steve's experience.

Otto's best future lay in continuing his research on artificial suns and assisting with the Avengers' experiments, provided he recovered and stabilized his emotions. This required time, which they had, given the current period of relative peace.

For Robert, comforting and guiding people wasn't his forte. He had gained some abilities from the Namekians but wasn't ready to become a mentor like Piccolo, especially not for a middle-aged man like Otto.

As time passed, Earth experienced relative peace with no major crises or regionally impactful supernatural events. However, smaller supernatural incidents became more frequent. The Avengers could handle these, and even some official institutions got involved. This increased the public's awareness and adaptation to the supernatural world.

One day, the Earth's dimension trembled as if a larger dimension was establishing a connection, tightening the bond between the two dimensions.

In an unknown space in Kamar-Taj, Wanda was surprised, sensing the change. "What are you doing?" she asked, looking beyond the dimension.

"I made an agreement with Earth's dimension to merge the Nosty Dimension, trying to fill the gap and allow Kamar-Taj to borrow more power in the future," responded the Ancient One, appearing beside Wanda.

"Did you use the Time Stone to foresee the consequences?" Wanda asked, glancing at the Time Stone on the Ancient One's chest.

"I tried, but the Time Stone couldn't predict the changes in Earth's dimension," the Ancient One admitted. She had attempted to foresee the future but failed, as the Time Stone didn't show her the desired vision.

"That's because Earth's dimension doesn't want you to see that future," Wanda sighed. "Do you know what happened on Earth while you were away?"

"What happened?" The Ancient One was puzzled by Wanda's tone.

"During this time, Earth's dimension has absorbed the power of many strong beings from outside the dimension, those trying to break its rules to use greater power. Earth's dimension agreed and benefited greatly," Wanda explained, recounting the previous battle between the dark dimension and Robert.

"No wonder," the Ancient One muttered, realizing why the dimension had contacted her. "Hopefully, there won't be too much trouble."

As they spoke, faint sounds came from the dimension, attracting the attention of Earth's strong beings and more from outside the dimension.

"Is Earth's dimension growing stronger? What's happening? Who provided the energy?"

"No, this might be a good thing for us. The dimension can now hold more power."

"Maybe we can cooperate with Earth's dimension."

"The gap in Earth's dimension hasn't disappeared. Strengthening doesn't fix all flaws."

These voices of strong beings echoed, spreading the word about Earth's dimension and drawing more covetous eyes.

Robert also sensed something amiss, looking skyward towards the dimensions. "What's happening? Should we investigate?"

"Yes, we should. We don't understand dimensional matters well, and with the Ancient One missing, we need to act," Robert said. Just as they prepared to move, a portal opened, and the Ancient One stepped out, looking somewhat embarrassed.

"This is?" Robert and Clark exchanged glances, realizing the connection between the dimensional anomalies and the Ancient One.

"This was indeed caused by me," the Ancient One admitted, explaining the situation to Robert and Clark.
