Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Daily Life 1

This is such a huge freaking scam. It's been one week since my mom taught me about our family's mystical origin. It's already been that long, and she isn't even training me seriously in magic!

The only spell I know is something to help me see magic and read faster. It's nice, but where are my fireball spells, my flight spells, or some cool wind blades? How the hell am I going to become a god of magic at this rate if she's only teaching beginner spells like a chump?

I wanna use my sword with some fire to be a kick-ass magic swordsman who slays dragons and saves princesses from evil dragons. Who knows I might become a magic knight, and then I can have endless glory, honor, and wealth. Hmm, would I become a dragon then?

Dragons hoard wealth and people are fearful of their moods due to their great power. Being a strong magical swordsman would make people fearful of my power and mood...

Having endless glory is something innate that most dragons I read about have. These dragons are often prideful, and the way they pride themselves in life could be a path of honor they follow alone. Oh no...

'Lucas kept pondering the meaning of his dream and dragons before he heard his dad call him downstairs. I was complaining about Mom, Dad isn't even a better option.'

'Dad is no better with him teaching me these so-called basics, with these foundation-something skills. Where are the fancy or strong martial arts techniques like those in the movies or books? When is mom going to teach me flying magic or some kind of cool skill?' Lucas thought, completely forgetting about the pink bubble in the sky incident.

Lucas kept complaining, but going into magic without common sense never ended well. It's been documented in the past that newbie spell casters often broke ancient magic laws by accident. They often got corrupted by the easy powerful magic they sought.

Other cases would be even worse as the newbies without a teacher to guide them. Almost all of them crippled themselves or outright died from some magical accident.

Learning to fight monsters without knowledge of them is almost always fatal. The casualty rate for newborn hunters without any common sense is as high as 70 - 80%. In the United States, it sits around 55% as the hunter community within the country is interconnected. Mostly due to the internet nowadays as 40 years ago it was 75%.

Newborn hunters die less nowadays as the internet exists, and online hunter forums are widespread online on the deep web. Sadly Lucas hasn't discovered these resources as his parents were essentially cavemen around anything online. So Lucas was stuck learning the old-fashioned way with its slow process. Luckily for him the old-fashioned way almost always made elites.

3 hours later . . .

"Lucas, the sun isn't getting any brighter boy, give me a hundred push-ups in five minutes, or else the punishment will be a thousand in an hour." James yelled at his son.

His son was in the backyard training. His wife was drinking lemonade by the side of the house in the shade with her lawn chair while holding an umbrella in her right hand.

Lucas completed the push-ups easily. It was only just a few days when 100 push-ups in 5 minutes would be impossible, but now it was light work.

As Lucas got up he had to grab a weapon of his choice and strike the metal dummy in the backyard by the shack outside. After striking the dummy with the wooden spear he dropped it to look at his dad.

"Dad pass me the reinforced wooden sword please."

"Boy, when will you learn to listen? I told you time and time again, that using a sword is not where your talents lay. You are a once-in-a-century genius when you use an axe. Those books and shows you watch about swordsmen are fake, remember what I told you son those techniques are all fake."

"Ya ya Dad, now please pass me the sword like I asked." Lucas asked while his father's words went in one ear and out the other.

'When will James learn our baby boy needs to fail first before he will start listening? Let Lucas struggle using his prized sword. After his lack of talent becomes extremely obvious our baby will switch weapons. Our baby boy isn't an idiot, he is just a little delusional like all kids his age are.' Emma laughed at both James's frustration, and Lucas's hard-headedness while enjoying her lemonade.

While they were training she activated the normalcy barrier around the property. With this activated, they can go crazy, and I can finally let loose. Emma cast a spell to make her umbrella float and keep it stable as she read another one of her son's books he ordered lately.

Flying personally isn't possible for me, but making a light object float continuously is simply child's play. Emma relaxed, checking the time to see it was 1:15 pm. Might as well pre-season the meat for the spaghetti while those two are training. While I'm inside I might as well get the magical subjects ready for tonight.

My boy has shown himself decent at the sword. Personally speaking his talent at using an axe or hammer is impressive. Yet the damn boy won't listen to me and stop using the fucking swords. Those fancy sword master novels he has on his bookshelf corrupted my boy.

Another flaw my son has is his damn hero complex and the idea that he needs to fight with honor. We both noticed it the day I had a mini spar as a test. He would shout things like (for the princess), or (my honor is at stake so I can't back down) and such. While it was cute to see my son role-playing while fighting with me, his sense of honor was a flaw that both me and Emma agreed on out of the list that had to go.

The main flaw at this point is his ignorance. He keeps ignoring his talent to look cool. The only sword moves he knows with his sword are fancy and hollow in substance.

'My memory improved Dad, my ass. He keeps saying his awakening made him a genius. Then why the hell doesn't he listen to his father when I keep telling him to drop the sword and switch to an axe.' James grumbled at the situation at hand.

"Dad look at this" Soon enough Lucas tried imitating those fancy sword moves on TV. He was able to somehow copy them, but every move angered James.

'Lucas, you left your back open, just look at your fucking form it's not balanced. How the hell is he, my son, with all those fucking flaws. I can casually see 78 critical flaws in his entire fighting style. Is he trying to give his pops a heart attack from all this stress' James was already close to pulling his hair out while Lucas was smiling and laughing while using his sword.

2 hours later . . .

"Emma we need to talk." James said while his son was taking a shower in the downstairs bathroom.

"James, make it quick my time isn't unlimited even with Lucas's long showers. I still have to teach him the foundations of supernatural history, knowledge, and general common sense. Chances are at the rate I am going I might have to tell him about the two classifications of magic I know of."

"I still need to finish making the spaghetti, the meat is already seasoned and the sauce is ready. I just need to boil some noodles and cook the meat." Emma explained while stirring the pot full of noodles as she added some salt to the water.

"Emma, it's three classifications of magic. I know you hate borrowers, please try not to mix your bias and hate towards the borrowers when teaching." James replied as he was worried his wife would taint their son in her hate for borrowers or hollows as she called them.

"Fine James I tell him about those dirty rotten hollows, I'll give some information on what they are. Are you happy James, I'll be reasonable, but I'm not raising a hollow-loving bastard in this house! True magic users learn to hate hollows for what they did and keep doing." Emma's voice was seething with rage, but she controlled herself and continued cooking.

"James wanna try some." Emma said as she offered him to try some sauce early to make him forget about her little outburst earlier about hollows.

"You know I love your cooking, but this isn't why I talked to you in the first place. Lucas needs some friends, like friends who will become hunters. He needs someone close to him besides us who knows and understands him." James declined the offer with hesitation, he still needed to get back on topic for his son.

"What about John Winchester's kids?" Emma asked absentmindedly while cooking.

"John is a good friend of mine, but his children are too young to be Lucas's friends. Lucas doesn't even have any real friends at school before." James replied expressing his concerns.

"What about Atsuko Urameshi Te---, she has kids. Aren't you and her husband all buddy-buddy since you two met 15 years ago." Emma said as she was tasting the sauce to see if it had the right amount of spice.

"Aren't her kids four to five years younger than Lucas? It wouldn't work out." James replied while brainstorming.

"You know she has two kids right? Ranma Saotome is 12 now and turns 13 on November 25 right? Yusuke Urameshi is the one who is four years younger. " Emma said as she was checking on the noodles.

"Oh ya Ranma, he and Lucas are about the same age. Isn't Ranma training to be a hunter too? Was Atsuko the one with demon blood in them from the demon plane or was it another friend? Wasn't she the same friend you called sis?" James asked while trying to sneakily grab some food from the fridge early only to be smacked on the head with a floating wooden spoon by his wife.

"Ya she's the one and only, so Ranma and Yusuke are hybrids. So talent-wise Lucas shouldn't feel too isolated growing up with people with a similar power level to himself." Emma replied before she got some bread and cheese to make Lucas a grilled cheese sandwich for tomorrow.

"It's already March, and with summer being in two months we should schedule the meeting ahead of time," James replied as he was still rubbing the spot his wife had hit earlier.

"James, don't forget to make Yusuke a necklace with your cursed technique, make sure it's durable as you can make it by sacrificing its potential for special cursed energy effects. Give it to me later so I can enchant it later as a gift to their son. Yusuke is turning eight this month." Emma replied as she opened the window by the fridge next to the stove, or else the house would smell like spaghetti for a few days.

This conversation went on for 30 minutes as they went back and forth giving each other ideas. It ended with them planning to bring Lucas on future hunts so he might meet up with other kids of hunters like him. They also squeezed in a two to three-month break in the summer to go to Japan to see Ranma and Yusuke.

While they were talking the blow dryer was going on in the bathroom. After drying off his long brown hair. Lucas always struggled trying to fix his hair as it reached the middle of his back. He was already 5'6, but his father was 6'6. Lucas didn't have any muscles like his dad or much meat on his bones at all.

His dad had the body of a Greek God, or a Viking, as his father looked one with all the rune tattoos he had on his body. His dad even had the face of a Viking.

When I was growing up Dad always looked like a war-torn Viking gangster. From his face to his chest, arms, and legs. All of them had scars and rune tattoos. Last week he drank a wedding gift he had been saving from Grandpa Max. The potion healed all his scars, hidden wounds, and everything else. It even made him superhuman in all physical attributes with the bonus of a medium-level magic resistance, and a low magical-based regeneration speed.

Dad also had short brown hair that reached his ears, but he always used his mom's self-crafted hair gel to slick his hair back then he would always use a hair comb to even it out.

Chances are the hair gel made by Mom has some sort of magical attribute. Mom taught me a simple spell yesterday to help me read the magically locked books she gave me to read. I wish it was a fireball or something but begging didn't help either.

I mastered that spell within 4 hours of learning it. I am a genius as most kids take months to learn that simple spell starting out. Not sure what Dad has, cause the mole under his left eye seems magical along with the rings on his fingers, and rune tattoos. Dad's beard reaches his neck, and he has it braided with three silver rings holding it together. I wonder how often he needs to wash it with the way he eats his food.

Mom's hair looked fine as it was also brown, but her hair reached her shoulders. She also had some magical rings on her fingers with some other accessories like a necklace, earrings, wristbands on both wrists, and a silver rod with weird golden letters on it.

She used said item to try up her hair in a Chinese hair bun style. She said she would make me a magic ring for my 14th birthday. Mom looked exactly like Auntie Gwen. Uncle Ben even came over last Christmas and gave me a stuffed doll he called Alien X, it looked like it was the night sky shaped like a person.

Sadly my looks didn't come from Dad as I basically look like a clone of my mother, but I'm a guy. I'm only 13 so I know this will all change as I grow older hopefully.

With my magic talent and extreme sword talent, I will slay dragons. Dad just doesn't understand my sword talent, using an axe is for firefighters or lumberjacks. Lucas' ego was getting bigger and bigger while his delusional ideas kept him from maximizing his talent.

Lucas did all of this in front of the bathroom mirror as he started doing weird fancy sword poses in the bathroom. He moved as if he was welding a flaming sword or something.
