Chapter 5: Meeting A Supreme
Alan and Ezekiel ran in the direction of the vehicle. As long as they could get to that vehicle, then there was hope of surviving for them.
The Silik rushed out of the forest and chased after them, only going about a hundred meters away from the forest before stopping. It made a chittering sound that sounded like it was afraid before turning and running back into the woods.
Alan and Ezekiel did not notice this as they were more focused on getting to the vehicle.
The duo were forced to stop when the vehicle they were running towards suddenly flipped into the air, while it was flipped into the air, the lights shone to what is behind it, anf just for a second, the duo caught sight of something nimble running after the vehicle. At this point, they were only about a hundred and fifty meters away from the vehicle before it was sent flying.
The van crashed to the ground, tumbling a few times before stopping on its side around twenty meters away from the duo.
Exchanging glances, the duo steeled their hearts and rushed to the vehicle. This was their only hope of survival.
On getting to the van, they hurriedly tried to open the back door of the van. While they were struggling to pry open the door, the front door of the van was sent flying and a human figure rushed out of it. The figure rushed to the back of the van only to see Alan and Ezekiel trying to open the door.
"Who are you people?"
Alan and Ezekiel raised their heads to see the figure of a lady who looked to be in her late twenties or early thirties. She wore a yellow tracksuit as she stared down at the duo.
"We were being chased by a Si…" Ezekiel froze mid-sentence because when he turned to look in the direction they were coming from, he could not see any traces of a Silik, "Huh? Where did it go?"
The lady looked in the direction he was staring in, "A Silik?" Her expression quickly changed as she came back to her senses and exclaimed, "Right, we were being chased too! Where are my companions?"
"Inside." Alan pointed at the group of people inside the van.
The lady leapt down from the van and easily opened the door to see her companions who were dressed in white lab coats. Among them was a man who seemed to have passed out with blood running down his head, tightly hugging onto a briefcase. Even with what happened, the man still refused to let go of the briefcase.
The lady looked behind them, seeing how quickly the Siliks were closing in, she waved her hand and a stream of water appeared from nowhere, pouring in the faces of the scientists.
The man with the briefcase was the first to open his eyes, feeling that the briefcase was still in his embrace, he heaved a sigh of relief before struggling out of the van. Of the five people in the van, a lady never opened his eyes. When the lady tried to take her out, she realized that she had been pierced by something at the back of her head; she was dead.
"Veronica, what's the situation?" The man who held onto the briefcase asked after coming out.
The lady referred to as Veronica stood in front of the man and reported, "Not good. We're surrounded by four upper-level Siliks, I don't know if I can defeat them on my own."
"Who are these kids?" The man asked when he noticed Alan and Ezekiel.
"I don't know, they said they were being chased by a Silik. Since they're still alive, it must have been a lower-level one." Veronica reported.
Alan and Ezekiel were both in a state of shock. When the lady leapt down and easily pried open the door, they felt she was strong, but seeing her use an element told them she was not only strong, but a Supreme as well. Also, hearing her speak of lower and upper level Siliks, they could not help but be worried. They have read about Siliks and knew that most of the ones in their region were lower level ones, yet they were already that strong.
'Those things are upper level Siliks.'
Both Alan and Ezekiel realized the figures they saw behind the van when it flipped is actually an upper level Silik.
"We'll talk about that later, what matters now is getting you four to safety." Veronica noticed the man wanted to ask another question and hurriedly stopped him.
The man, however, asked in shock, "Four?" Looking around, he noticed they were missing one person, "Where's Sarah?"
"Dead." Veronica said calmly while watching the movements of the Siliks. During the time she brought out her companions from the van, the Siliks had already surrounded them.
They hadn't tried to attack yet, just watching them, ensuring that they blocked the escape routes of the humans.
"Where are the weapons, we can at least assist you with them?" The man asked, a little shaky from the Siliks that were staring at them.
Veronica shook her head before taking out a gun, it was a semi-automatic pistol with a blue trigger.
She looked at the shaky scientists, before turning to look at the two youths beside her, "Any of you know how to use one?"
Ezekiel stepped forward, "Yes."
"Good, try not to hit me with it okay." Veronica tossed the gun to Ezekiel before adding while pointing at the scientists, warning with a cold voice, "Also, if you do anything funny with them, I'll kill you before you can pull that trigger."
Ezekiel took the gun, not worried by her warning. He didn't plan on doing anything other than to help her anyway, so why worry. Besides, his life literally rested on the shoulders of Veronica and her group, how would he dare to betray them n
When Veronica saw his reaction, she nodded secretly.
"You five, stay behind us, don't make any rash movements," She instructed the scientists and Alan.
Alan moved close to the scientists, unsure of what to do. Ezekiel was just given one of the most valuable items in the world currently, a gun filled with chaos energy bullets, these were the only things other than Supremes and mutated animals that could harm and even kill Siliks.
Most Supremes don't use these weapons, only opting to use them when necessary.
Veronica created a water dome to protect Alan and the Scientists while Ezekiel stood just outside the water dome. After she confirmed Ezekiel was ready, she attacked. Although she did not know if she could defeat all four upper level Siliks on her own, she was confident they would not be able to harm her. All she needed to do was make sure the Siliks did not go past her. Ezekiel's job sounded simple, stop any Silik that gets past Veronica.
Bang! Boom! Bam!
Veronica's attacks provoked the Siliks and they countered. Shooting out light beams to destroy Veronica's attack.
Ezekiel held onto the gun tightly, watching the battle from behind. He didn't dare to carelessly shoot since he knew how precious the bullets were. The fight between Veronica and the Siliks quickly intensified as both parties fought with everything they had. In a one on one battle, Veronica was stronger than each of the Siliks, but against four, she had a difficult time.
Bam! Boom!
Veronica managed to send one of the Siliks flying, but she was pushed back in the process. One of the Siliks took advantage of the opportunity and darted towards the water dome.
Ezekiel, seeing this, did not hesitate and pulled the trigger, shooting at the Silik charging at them.
Bang!
Unfortunately, he missed.
The Silik did not stop its movement, rushing closer to them.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Without thinking, he started firing wildly at the Silik, forcing it to stop in its tracks. Although the pressure was getting to him, he knew if the Silik got to them, they would all die.
