But obviously this was not the right time or place to use that card so Li Feng hid his happiness and excitement in his heart. He was among the first children to complete their awakening. After some time, the other children present were also done with their awakening and the screaming around him stopped.

A total of 28 children participated in this process and among them, 22 had managed to successfully awaken their spiritual roots.

The remaining 6 children who had failed suddenly started melting and in a blink of an eye, turned into blackish red blood. Then that blood flew toward the elder standing beside the red orb who was looking at all the children with cold eyes. He then calmly absorbed all that blood inside his body.

Then he singnaled the children to follow him again and started to leave the room as if nothing had happened. This scary scene immediately destroyed all the happiness and excitement that these children were feeling for their successful awakening and their hearts turned cold in fear again.

Noticing that the children were not moving, that old demon turned his head back and told them to follow him again but this time he had an irritated expression on his face.

Immediately after that all 22 of the still living children started doing just that with fearful but steady steps. They were scared that if this man got displeased by their improper way of walking, then he would also kill all of them without batting an eye.

After the awakening ceremony was done, all the surviving children were brought out of that underground area and also outside the cave. The old man then brought them to an open ground where he disinterestedly handed them some items and told them that they had now become the disciples of the great [Blood Sea sect].

There was a booklet among the things that they were given where important rules about the Blood Sea sect was written. Telling the children just this little information, the old man left without giving any other instructions.

Li Feng was unsure about what to do next so he decided to check out the booklet for the time being. On the very first page, what he needed to do next was written in bold letters. Seeing this Li Feng immediately thought that if any of the children here were unable to read, they would already be screwed.

According to the booklet, Li Feng needed to collect a bucket full of blood from his fellow disciples who had awakened alongside him. Then after submitting that bucket of blood to the old demon who had just left, he would be able to truly become an official disciple of the Blood Sea sect.

Even though Li Feng knew what he needed to do next, he did not attack any of the children here immediately. He still had his upgraded sword with him and he was also a martial arts grandmaster. So these children were not a threat to him at all. But he started to act as if he was very tired after enduring all that pain from the awakening process.

Li Feng was actually using himself as bait to make someone else to attack him first. Then he would be able to take care from that person in self defence. Even though Li Feng was going to enter a demonic sect, he still needed some time to adjust his mind to all the cruelty.

As for where he was hiding his sword, his system had a very convenient storage space where he could only put things that had been upgraded using the cards from the system. So currently he was only able to put the sword there.

Li Feng was able to bring his upgraded items inside the storage space just by thinking. The demonic cultivators had no interest in his very ordinary sword, so they had left it behind in the empty village after capturing Li Feng.

So after they had gotten a little bit away from the village, Li Feng had immediately stored the sword in that storage space just by wishing it. None of the cultivators had noticed anything when this had happened.

Li Feng obviously did not want to suddenly took out a sword out of nowhere and expose his storage space. But still having it gave him a mental support that he would not be completely unarmed in this dangerous place.

Just as Li Feng waited, some of the other children who were also able to read what was written on the booklet started making their moves. They were unable to hold back anymore and in order to survive and grow, they started to attack each other.

There were quite a few who had still not opened the booklet or were not able to read and they were the first ones who were taken out by surprise attacks. They had no idea that the people around them were suddenly going to attack, so they were unable to defend against that properly with the suddenness of the attacks.

One of the children who was standing close to Li Feng chose to also attack him. He was a burly boy and looked to have some background in martial arts. So he was confident in his strength. For that reason, even though Li Feng did not look like the weakest person present in the ground, he was still confident in taking him down. Li Feng's tired acting was also a reason why his confidence had gotten a boost.

As soon as Li Feng was attacked, he immedately fought back. With his strength and technique of a grandmaster realm martial artist, defeating this little boy was not a big deal even if he was also a strong martial artist.

So in no time, Li Feng managed to dominate the child attacking him and made him to faint after landing a well placed chop to the back of his neck. Then he took the bucket which was included in the things that was given to him with the booklet and silently stood before the fainted bot for some time.

Now he needed to extract blood from him to fill the bucket. Li Feng had forced himself to keep a calm and collected mind no matter what the situation was but still, currently his mind was in a mess.

Li Feng was from the mostly peaceful earth and even when training as a martial artist, he had not experienced killing anyone. In the last one and half decade, he had made his willpower to be stronger but still taking a life was not an easy thing to do.

Li Feng knew that if he really wanted to become a cultivator, he would need to be ruthless. Especially now that he was in a demonic sect, any weakness he showed could become a reason for his death.

So after taking some time to compose his mind, Li Feng thought back about how he wanted to take revenge on the people who were responsible for killing his family. He also thought back about how the boy before him had attacked him with killing intent. Then he lifted his hand and landed a palm strike on the boy's chest that destroyed his heart, killing him.

There was a possibility that he would have been able to collect enough blood from the burly boy without killing him but Li Feng had realised that the main objective of this test was to see which disciples had the ruthless mindset essential for becoming a demonic cultivator. Having a suitable personality was more important to a demonic cultivator than even good talent.

So if Li Feng had showed mercy to this person, there was a high possibility that he would have been judged to be unsuitable for the sect by the demonic old man and would then be killed. So Li Feng decided to be ruthless in order to not put his life in any unnecessary danger. Survival was his main goal for the time being.
