Surprise! I've Transmigrated Again

Chapter 95: Chapter 095 ⤞ You Can Always Trust What Adam Says

"Carter, please teach me fighting techniques, teach me swordsmanship!"

While Adam was doing his morning training, Natsuki ran up to him, breathlessly shouting his request.

The sudden interruption startled him. They had just survived an attack the previous night that hadn't been resolved until dawn.

Yet here was this kid, barely three hours later, rushing to learn swordsmanship.

Though Adam understood the urgent desire to grow stronger, this showed recklessness rather than true dedication.

Adam noticed Natsuki's dark under-eye circles and asked sternly, "Subaru-kun, you haven't rested at all, have you?"

He nodded vigorously, "Yes, that's right!"

"Just as I thought..." Adam sighed at his brave face, "Subaru-kun, training hard doesn't always mean improvement. Sometimes, proper rest is what prepares you for rigorous training. Do you understand?"

"It's fine, I'm full of energy! There's no problem at all!"

"Your excitement only proves you're forcing yourself."

"It's fine, I feel great!"

Seeing that reason wouldn't work, Adam commanded firmly, "Subaru-kun! You need to rest!"

Though Natsuki tried to feign ignorance, Adam's direct words left him no choice but to retreat.

He knew that no amount of persistence would convince Adam to teach him today.

"Sigh, sorry, I was too hasty."

"It's alright." Adam shook his head dismissively, then added with an ominous smile, "Rest well today — it's your last day of leisure. Be prepared for hell tomorrow."

"Oh, I'm looking forward to it!" Rather than being intimidated, Natsuki's enthusiasm only grew.

He bounded away energetically, though it would likely take him hours to actually fall asleep.

After their parting, Adam made his way to the Forbidden Library.

Beatrice sat in her usual chair, reading intently with a cup of still-warm tea beside her.

When Adam entered, her eyes lit up, and she immediately demanded he teach her about the other world.

Another day of "exploitation" began.

He taught her the other world's writing system with patience and focus.

Halfway through their lesson, Beatrice began casually inquiring about the others in the mansion. Despite her pretense of indifference, it was clear she kept a watchful eye on everyone.

"Oh? Does Beatrice want to know how they're doing?" Adam asked directly, "If you're worried about them, why don't we go see them together?"

"Hmph, Betty doesn't care about them at all."

Despite her protests, she allowed Adam to guide her out of the Forbidden Library.

They arrived at the courtyard.

In the garden, Rem and Ram were tending to the trees — fertilizing and pruning them. Rem appeared cheerful, while Ram maintained her characteristic composure.

"Hey Ram, Rem, how are you feeling?" Adam asked, holding Beatrice's small hand as they approached the twin maids.

Rem bowed respectfully, "Thank you for your concern. Rem has almost fully recovered."

Being an Oni, her recovery abilities were extraordinary — she had regained her strength and mobility in mere hours.

"Carter, thank you for saving Rem." Ram said.

She hadn't had the chance to express her gratitude earlier, but now offered it sincerely.

"No, it's nothing." Adam shook his head, "Don't be so formal. Given our relationship — yours, mine, and Rem's — isn't saving her only natural?"

"Natural... is it?" Ram contemplated these words as her sister's eyes brightened.

"Well then, we'll be going now." Noting their ongoing work in the courtyard, Adam decided not to interrupt further.

"Please take care."

With the twin maids' farewell, he left the courtyard holding the Spirit's hand.

"You're quite the smooth talker, aren't you?" Beatrice said mockingly, "Those two oni girls seem completely smitten with you."

Her tone was sharp, tinged with jealousy.

"Oh, is Beatrice jealous? I'm so happy! Yes, I do have a good relationship with them. But..." Adam teased, then turned serious, "The same goes for Beatrice! If you ever face danger, no matter what hardships await me, I will definitely save you!"

"..." Beatrice fell silent for a moment. Then she asked, her voice trembling slightly, "Do... do you really mean that?"

"Yes, I promise!" He answered without hesitation, "You can always trust what I say!"

These resolute words pierced through her inner defenses, touching the Spirit's fragile heart.

She looked at him with eyes full of doubt, hope, and pleading, "Could... could it be... that you're..."

Unfortunately, before she could finish, a commotion erupted nearby.

The sudden noise made Beatrice swallow her words, pressing her lips together in silence.

Her grip on Adam's hand tightened considerably — she was now the one actively holding his hand.

"Beatrice, you..." Adam was startled, yet relieved.

He knew what Beatrice wanted to ask, but had no answer ready.

Though he could respond, it would mean deceiving this 400-year-old Great Spirit.

Even if he contracted with Beatrice, it would merely mean bringing her out of the library — exchanging a small cage for a larger one. Even if that cage stretched across the boundless universe and all worlds, it would still be a cage.

She would remain trapped, bound by an unnecessary contract.

He wanted to contract with her, but not if she would see herself as his tool. He wanted a true partner to share life and death with him, not someone to be summoned and dismissed at will!

In players' terms: He wanted Beatrice's heart, not her body.

He also wanted to help her resolve her emotional knots, but now wasn't the time. He would have to wait.

A commotion drew his attention — it was Natsuki, of course.

Only this casual fellow, with his complete disregard for servant etiquette, would dare make such a racket in the count's mansion.

He was wrestling with Puck while Emilia tried to separate them.

Though "wrestling" was generous — it was more like the Beast of the End giving the boy a one-sided beating with his cat paws.

"To let my beloved daughter get hurt, you useless fellow!" Puck scolded while striking him.

"I tried my best to defend, okay!" Natsuki protested, despite being beaten black and blue.

"If my beloved daughter hadn't pleaded for you, I would have frozen you into an ice sculpture long ago!"

Though Puck's tone seemed light, Adam could tell he meant every word.

"Big Brother!" Beatrice called out happily upon seeing Puck.

Puck stopped beating Natsuki and turned to see Adam and Beatrice, letting his victim go.

He floated over to the pair, askeing with concern, "Betty, are you alright?"

"Yes, Big Brother, Betty is fine." She replied joyfully, hugging him to her chest.

"Carter, thank you so much." Puck said to Adam, "If it weren't for you, I might never have seen my beloved daughter again."

"No, it was what I should do." Adam turned to Emilia, "Emilia, how are you? Are you feeling alright?"

"Yes, after some rest, I feel much better." She assured him.

"That's good." He nodded.
