Swordmaster’s Youngest Son(Jarden Runcandel)

Chapter 9: 9. Training

Jin pov

The days after consuming pheonix heart jin with help of tona twins found the secret library . He started coming here for everyday It started as a excuse to pray for the bird tona twins killed.

During the past 2 months he had spent transcribing the books underground, the only sounds that resounded down there were that of his pencil scribbling on paper and the occasional wind blowing. Jin instinctively knew that Murakan's glass coffin was opening. Anyone else in Jin's situation would've come to the same conclusion.

'Goddammit. Why is Murakan waking up now of all times?!'

Badump! Badump!

His heart accelerated like crazy as if it had lost complete control over itself.

The calm and safe Storm Castle's underground area had suddenly become menacing and hazardous. A chill ran up his spine as cold sweat slid down his face.

'Could it be… that I misheard it?'

After hearing a series of unsettling noises from Murakan's chamber—cloth rustling, footsteps, a sliding door—Jin realizes that the legendary dragon Murakan may have awoken from his 1000-year slumber. Shocked, he tries to rationalize the moment, unsure if it's due to coincidence or a direct consequence of his return in time. Having never witnessed Murakan awaken in his previous life,

Jin suspects that his repeated visits may have triggered the dragon's reawakening. Nervous but hopeful, he reminds himself that he's never offended Murakan, and thus hopes the dragon won't be hostile toward him.

Jin recalls the widely known tale that disturbing a sleeping dragon usually leads to death—because dragons are notoriously ill-tempered. As he hears footsteps and the sound of movement from Murakan's chamber, Jin braces himself, calculating his chances of survival should the ancient dragon attack.

He prepares to act respectful yet bold, ready to rely on his magic, Solderet's power, and persuasion if necessary. When he opens the door, he's met not with fury, but with Murakan himself—awake, composed, and standing tall in human form, looking nothing like someone who had been sleeping for a millennium. Jin breathes a little easier, realizing the awakening may be linked to his own repeated presence.

Jin nervously greets Murakan with a stutter, calling him the "clan's guardian" to appear respectful and frightened. Murakan reacts with disbelief and irritation, mocking the word "guardian":

"Guardiannnn? Guardian? Did you just say 'guardian'? Huh?"

His voice alone sends mana swirling through the room. He demands Jin repeat the statement:

"Say that again, you shitty brat. Did you just say that I'm your clan's guardian?"

Murakan vanishes into black smoke and reappears instantly before Jin, prompting a clearer explanation:

"Are you not Lord Murakan? I've been told that the Black Dragon Murakan is the Runcandel Clan's guardian."

Murakan, blinking in frustration, scoffs at the title and the Runcandels' version of history:

"Sigh, I see. Those damned Runcandel bastards… So that's what you told your descendants. Haha! And it's not like I can take out my anger on this chestnut-sized kid. This is driving me crazy!"

Jin feels relieved, noting Murakan's restraint toward children, but also recognizes the dragon's murderous intensity—acknowledging that had he been in his 28-year-old body, Murakan would've responded much more violently.

Murakan awakens and inhales deeply, sensing an alluring energy in the air. He dismisses Jin's identity, focusing instead on the source of the spiritual energy he detects. Mistaking Jin for just another Runcandel, Murakan demands to be led to "Solderet's contractor," the one responsible for the powerful aura. He remarks:

"Only the contractor could have such strong spiritual energy. I just hope this contractor isn't as rude as Temar, that son of a bitch."

Temar—the first patriarch—is mentioned with clear bitterness, surprising Jin. Realizing Murakan has awoken due to his own spiritual power, Jin internally celebrates the shift in dynamic, thinking:

'I'm the one in power in this relationship!'

As Murakan continues to sniff and hone in on the energy, Jin remains quiet, calculating his next move.

Jin weighs whether to reveal that he's Solderet's contractor. Deciding honesty is strategic, he conjures a small flame of spiritual power.

Murakan, sniffing the air, reacts in shock:

"Y-Y-Y-Y-You? Impossible. This is madness! Solderet made a contract with a kid like you?"

Panicked, he stumbles backward and yells toward the void:

"Oi, Solderet! You're listening, right? Did you finally go batshit? Explain yourself!"

Jin calmly manifests a second shadow sphere and responds:

"My father told me that this power was given to me by the being who brought shadows into this world."

Murakan falls to the ground, cycling through denial, anger, fear, and finally acceptance. Then, he sighs:

"Kid… It seems that you're the individual with whom I must adjust my breath, as according to my promise with Solderet."

When Jin asks what that means, Murakan replies:

"You're still too young to understand the details."

Moments later, Murakan begins his transformation, dark energy swirling around him.

In full dragon form, he declares solemnly:

"[I am Murakan. Solderet's proxy and friend. The last descendant of the first being created from shadows. Following the thousand-year promise, I shall be your life-long partner from today onwards. State your name.]"

Jin responds with quiet resolve:

"I am Jin Runcandel. Thirteenth and final child of the Runcandels."

Pov end

Meanwhile Jarden Started his daily routine with Utahime as straining body may reduce the potential and he would start training when he turns 8. He knew of jin's meeting with mukuran but he decided to keep it a secret from others. Jarden and jin would meet occasionally but no one said a thing about the secret librarry.

Jarden POV

Six moons passed.

Storm Castle remained quiet, yet pulsing—whispers etched into stone, secrets breathing beneath each footstep.

Jin's eyes had grown sharper. His posture, more deliberate. The labyrinth had become his second home, and Mukuran, his silent tutor. Magic now flowed from his fingertips without hesitation.

As for Jarden, his training with Utahame hadn't faltered. While Jin spiraled into shadow and spellcraft, Jarden forged his strength in silence. No strikes. No sparring.

Only breath.

Only foundation.

At dawn, he meditated with unmoving wind. By dusk, he listened to his body, letting the fire within settle instead of blaze.

Utahame said nothing of Jin's evolution, but Jarden could feel it.

His twin was sprinting.

So he remained still.

But never idle.

Because some storms don't roar until the sky is ready.
