That Time I Got Reincarnated to a Demon Slayer

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Village Of Flowers

"Through here, over here!" Meowshi shouted as she led the way to the Hanamura village.

*Panting*

"Meowshi! Slow down for gods sake. I'm not that fast." Takeshi shouted from a far distance. He had stopped to catch his breath. At this point, it was midday as Takeshi headed from the Blacksmiths village early daybreak. His eyes were still red from rubbing them due to fatigue.

"Hey, maybe you could train to be faster because this is ridiculous." Meowshi shouted. She and Takeshi were a good two miles apart.

"Some demon slayer you call yourself." Meowshi muttered but it was loud enough for Takeshi to hear.

"Oi! You do realise I didn't even get to eat breakfast? So shut your mouth you're just a cat." Takeshi threatened, he was clearly sensitive. Takeshi wanted to prove the cat wrong by running, but…

BANG!

"Ouch. Head first on the cold, hard ground . You okay there Takeshi?" Meowshi called out.

Takeshi tripped, on a measly little frog. Somehow the frog survived leaving Takeshi with a bloody nose. "Owowowow. That hurt! And no I am not okay!" Takeshi shouts, gripping onto his nose as it pours with blood. I should watch where I'm going. Takeshi said his head spinning and in his face in pain.

"Toughen up Takeshi, you need to fight demons, who I guarantee are going to hurt you more badly than a small nose bleed. Now come on, stop acting like a baby. These people need saving."

Those words stung but they were right. Damn, how can a cat be more right than me? Takeshi's thoughts stayed as he ran. His hands full of

blood.

Soon enough they arrived at a gate signed:

HANAMURA

It was so bold that it made the place seem exciting. But when Takeshi looked in, nothing, no one. It was a dead village. Every single person was tucked away and trapped in fear in their own homes. It was devastating. 'This village was supposed to be home to the most beautiful flowers in Japan, however, after the attack of demons, the flowers were destroyed since demons hated flowers. One flower demons sought to get was the Yamato Peony, which was planted here in this village. However, it had been declining since many didn't have the skills to reserve the flower.'

Takeshi read the information glass near the entrance. He walked through the village, his gaze meeting the helpless villagers inside the homes.

"Who is that? Is that the Oni?" Some villagers whispered amongst themselves. The village was gloomy and dull. Definitely not how it looked in the picture at the entrance. The houses were barricaded with wood and wisteria. Alarms were placed everywhere. Streets were dirty and unclean. Parks left abandoned. Schools empty. Smells erupted from the nearby stores. Everything was a mess. The drains kept making disgusting noises and smells. As if they're waste was not being cleaned. Takeshi couldn't take this anymore.

He went over and knocked on the door to one of the houses.

"Hello? Anyone in there?" As he shouted he looked through the window, to see a couple trying to hide themselves from Takeshi.

"I can see you!" Takeshi yelled.

"Takeshi.. I think you're scaring them more. It's best to introduce yourself, dumbass." Meowshi gives him obvious advice.

"You're right! Except for the last bit that wasn't nice."

"Hello, People of Hanamura. I am Takeshi Hasegawa. A demon slayer. I have come to revive your village." Takeshi pulled a weird, striking pose. Like he was an official, calling out to his people. "Please do not fear. I will try my hardest to protect you and this village." Takeshi said, Wow I feel like a hero.

"Calm down Takeshi, you aren't a hero yet."

Takeshi looked at Meowshi in disbelief. Did that cat just read my mind or what? Am I tripping?

"Well, that's the ugliest look you've given me so far." Meowshi said, reacting to his facial expression.

It might have been a weird approach but the people of Hanamura did feel moved. The couple's door that Takeshi had knocked on, opened.

"I-Is this true? You're a Demon Slayer?" The man asked, his trembling with fear.

"Yes, Sir I am." Takeshi answered proudly about his job.

"OH thank god. But it's too late. My son and daughter were killed. They were only trying to come home from school." The man cried to Takeshi.

The man looked around in his mid-forties, he had thinner hair and white stripes of white hair were peeking through. It was clear he won't be able to have anymore children.

He showed a picture of his son and daughter. They were twins both identical except one was muscular and had short hair while the other was slim with long hair. Wow, they came into this world together and left this world together. I wonder if they got reincarnated to another world like me. Maybe my world? Takeshi thought. No more thinking I need to focus on the task. Takeshi shook his head and looked straight at the man.

"Where were they killed and at what time? Takeshi said his eyes locked onto the man's eyes. He was tensed up.

"Well, Yuki and Yuri were both coming home from school. They were talking. It had also turned night so I guess they were halfway home, near the bakery. That's when a demon came and killed the-" The man choked on his tears. He couldn't even end his sentence because of his tears he couldn't hold back.

Takeshi nodded and helped the man by wiping his tears. "I will try to get your end and their peace, don't worry." Takeshi stated with determination.

"Please stay here, we will give you food. You can stay here until night comes around." The man said, affected by Takeshi's kindness.

"Hello.." The woman behind the man said, trying hard not to cry.

"You know you remind me of someone. But I can't pinpoint their name. Except they had red eyes like your shape, black hair with a red hue, and a wide but narrow face. Most important of all a kind heart." The man sat down and said.

They sat, talked and ate all the way until night.

"The sun's gone down. I will hunt for the demon now. Please stay here and stay safe. May peace and blessings be upon you." Takeshi informed the man and his wife.

Takeshi went outside. Honestly, he was scared, frightened that he wouldn't be able to save them. His heart went from normal to racing. The beast could come from anywhere, it lurked in the shadows waiting for its prey.

Takeshi wasn't much older than the twins so it made him an easy target for the demon. Takeshi grabbed his blade and laid low, waiting for the demon to appear.

During the silence, the sound came. Sounds of heavy breathing, very heavy, something Takeshi had never heard before. Sounds of branches breaking under someone's feet. The sounds of someone looking for something in the grass.

Takeshi peeked past the wall. It's not who he expected.

It was a woman. A beautiful woman. Her skin was pale, almost white and her hair, long and a dark emerald green. She had red marks on her face, no petals. The only thing about her that stood out was her weight. She was just bones. Skin sunken, no muscle, you could even see her veins that were popping out. She wore a long white night gown. She looked out of the world but for some reason she was attractive. Takeshi was drooling when he saw her.

Her nails were painted red, her lips had a red tint and the corners of her slim cat-eyes had pink shadow. Her eyes were red and lustrous. She had heels on and the clicking of them just echoed through the silent village.

Takeshi noticed that, as she looked at those people inside she licked her lips. Those fangs, sharper than a knife, were….

Blood-stained.

Seems as if she has already killed some kids. Takeshi grunted the rage was getting to him. "Don't let the emotions take charge." Takeshi

whispered to himself but he said it a bit too loudly.

The demon heard and looked around, sniffing trying to locate the human.

"Okay that's my cue to leave. I'm out" Meowshi whispered to Takeshi, "Meow, Meow." With that, she disappeared around the corner of the houses.

As the demon came closer, Takeshi had no choice but to show himself.

He stepped out of the place he was hiding in and by fate he stepped right in front of the demon. He had his sword in front ready to swing at any moment.

"Ah, there you are my dear food. Why do you hide from me?" The demon said her voice was more attractive than her looks. Her voice echoed like a forgotten lullaby- beautiful, distant, and just unnatural enough to raise the hairs on the back of Takeshi's neck. She was hungry for Takeshi. She clearly wanted to wrap him around her fingers and use her looks to her advantage then eat him up in one whole. But Takeshi was smart.

He didn't let The demon wrap himself around her finger, he didn't let his emotion distract him.

"Come on darling you don't like me? Most men would have dropped head over heels for me by now." She stated, while touching her body that she used to deceive men somehow. She touched her body and then licked her lips with a longing desire.

Yes it was attractive for Takeshi, driving his feelings mad but-

"I do not like you. I DO NOT LIKE PEOPLE WHO KILL!" Takeshi shouted and with that, he lunged with his sword to strike, however, the demon dodged out of the way.

"YOU'LL PAY FOR REJECTING ME!"

She screamed, a bursting eardrum kind of scream.

"Bloom bind." She muttered to herself. Then, from her body, vines with flowers erupted like snakes or ropes, grabbing Takeshi and wrapping him around it.

Not this again. Takeshi said his face began to look worried. Fight

through it. Slice it! The thoughts pushed Takeshi to fight more.

"Mmmm, you're even delicious when you reject me. I've had that before." She licked her lips again showing her fangs that shone under the moonlight.

Funny for her, Takeshi sliced her vines and jumped out.

"Tide Serpent Style, Second form, Tidal Devourer." The snake reappeared again. This time big, it was following Takeshi's sword. As he got closer to the demon her vines interrupted, sending Takeshi into houses.

"Argh," Takeshi moaned in pain. How is she able to do- NO The houses! That thought made Takeshi forget the pain.

In front of him, in the distance, the demon had grabbed one of the victims inside the homes. She was going to eat them. Takeshi ran, ran fast, very fast. When he got close he leapt and cut both of her hands off in one strike.

"STOP GETTING IN MY WAY!" The demon shouted her voice now demonic.

"Floral Mirage." She shouted.

Something hit Takeshi, no, he was seeing things. He saw his mother being eaten. Her blonde hair slowly turning a deep red as the blood stains it. He saw his sister asking to come play. Her blue eyes all teared up. He saw Arakaki but only his black hair and green eyes.

"You have failed me." His mother said to him, while in the mouth of a demon. WHAT IS ALL OF THIS? Takeshi's brain was aching.

Random people appearing in his view. Demons, people he cared for, people who had already died.

"ENOUGH!"

Takeshi shook his head hard, hitting it against something. The hallucinations stopped. At this point, the demon had eaten the couple that he tried to save.

"Mhmm that was delicious, time for more." The demon said licking her fingers clean.

"NO YOU WON'T. I WILL NOT LET YOU KILL ANY OTHERS." Takeshi screamed.

The demon jumped as the scream frightened her.

"Yeah? Bring it on then rejector." She said her scared face, turned into a wicked smile.

She ran towards him, he ran towards her, both at full speed but she was faster. As the collided, a shockwave burst through the village streets almost knocking down the houses.

She tried to punch him but he was blocking it with his sword.

"Take this, bloom bind." With that, the vines and flowers came erupting out. This time there were twice as before, there were six. Takeshi dodged them all, slowly getting closer to her. He could taste her smell. Which didn't add up to her appearance. It was a disgusting taste, a taste of metal and fabrics. The taste was so bad that Takeshi nearly threw up but he kept his composure and continued to slice the vines.

Once he got to a certain distance, he lunged fast. He lunged behind to buy time and to distract her.

"Tide Serpent Breathing, Third Form, Azure Coiling Fangs." He whispered.

The snake appeared again, this time even bigger and it had giant jagged fangs pointing at its opponent. His sword became the snake and like waves, it moved towards the demon. As she turned around Takeshi had already stuck her neck. Slicing it, swiftly.

"What? What's going on? Am I dead?" The demon questions as he head laid on the floor and her body next to it.

She began to wither away, "NO. NO I CAN'T BE! I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN ALL THE FLOWERS! MY FLOWERS! MY FLOW- Huh?"

The demon stopped whining, she saw something. Takeshi sat down next to her head.

"Boy, you-. You look so warm. Like my father. You look like my father." In

front of her in her eyes, there was a man, who looked like Takeshi. His eyes were a soft blue and his hair was jet black. His face was in a smile, but he looked sick. His cheeks and eyes were sunken in.

"I-I'm sorry Father, I tried to get revenge. For you. Why did they not save you? They had everything. So I wanted to kill their people. Hana people would have paid if it wasn't for this boy." She cried out.

"May peace be upon you now." Takeshi said getting up and running to the injured people. The demon watches him helping people. "Yes, just like my father." She says then withering away.

"Are you all okay? She's gone. You don't have to be scared." Takeshi says in a delicate voice.

With that, the people of Hana walked out of their homes. They all jumped in

celebration, but not all. The people whose family members were eaten.

The couple with the twins Yuki and Yuri walked up to Takeshi. He fell on his knees, prostrating to Takeshi.

"Hey, you don-."

"T-Thank you, Thank you. THANK YOU." The man wailed. He looked up with tears and grabbed his feet. The wife followed.

"No please get up." Takeshi said boldly. They got up.

"Thank you for granting our peace Takeshi." The wife said her voice was still shaky.

"I hope, peace and blessings will be upon you." The man said hugging Takeshi.

The sun peaked over the mountains, shining light onto the village. It definitely wasn't beautiful right now but with some cleaning and regrowing and rebuilding. It will become beautiful again.

"You should build a wall outside the village." Takeshi gave advice. Using the Blacksmith's village design to help Hanamura.

The sun grew higher and the land was washed in its light.
