Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The Blade
"So kid, I'm you're blacksmith?" Hanada asks.
"Yes sir, you are. Do you not like being a blacksmith?" Takeshi asked, with a confused look.
"Yes, I do it's just I'm surprised they wanted me since what happened last time."
Hanada's voice quietens down as he says that last sentence. "Anyways you are welcome to stay the night, i'll get started on your sword. And one thing.
DO NOT BREAK YOUR SWORD."
Hanada warns Takeshi, his eyes threaten Takeshi as well. Takeshi took the hint that this man was being very serious. Now I think I know what happened last time.
"Dear, who's at the door?" A very elegant voice tiptoed down the stairs. It was a woman, but she wasn't wearing a mask, but a veil.
"Oh, it's just a boy from the Demon Slayer Corps. I got chosen to make his sword." Hanada replies to her while getting the material for Takeshi's sword.
"Oh?" Her gaze switched onto Takeshi's, "Are you sure this is a good idea?" "Yes, if I don't do it I'll get kicked out of the village. Unless you want to end up being mauled by a demon you should let me do it." Hanada said with an annoyed voice.
"Hello dear. I'm Parel Hanada, wife of Kagayaki Hanada, nice to meet you." Her voice was soft. She revealed her face, underneath was a beautiful face. Pearl-like skin and her face was glowy. Her smile was more beautiful.
"Don't stare too much or I'll have to kill you." Hanada noticed Takeshi staring at Parel.
"Don't mind him." Parel giggles.
"Nice to meet you too Parel, I'm Takeshi Hasegawa." Takeshi shook her hand with a warm and cute smile.
"So tell me, why are you so late compared to the other demon slayers?" Parel asked while she brewed some tea for Takeshi.
"Long story short, I was very badly injured by a demon. In the intermission area." Takeshi answered.
"How? In the intermission area? Isn't it full of trained demon slayers, There's wisteria, right?" Hanada interrupted.
"I'm not sure, he said he could shape shift, but I don't know how he wasn't affected by the wisteria." Takeshi answered. He exclusively missed the information about Akumu. I don't want many people to find out. They'll start bombarding me with questions.
"Here, your tea. Drink up then get some rest. My husband will be making you're sword." Parel placed the tea down on the floor in front of him.
"Thank you." He bowed then sipped the tea.
"I'll place a bed down for you." With that, Parel grabbed a futon-
"No, no it's okay really, I'll do it myself. You've done a lot for me already." Takeshi insisted on placing the futon himself.
*
The sun shone through the cracks of the shoji. The light touched Takeshi's face and made him wake up from his sleep. He gets up and next to him lies a pristine, sharp, very details Nichirin blade. Takeshi opens the shoji, as he turns around he notices someone sitting in the corner of the room… Fully awake and staring with big full eyes at Takeshi.
"AHHHH. WAIT? Mr Hanada is that you?" Takeshi screams in fear, then asks for confirmation. You know, just in case it's a demon.
"Yes it is moron. Now open your blade." Hanada looks at the blade then at Takeshi, gesturing with his eyes for Takeshi to take the guard off.
"O-Okay I am!" Takeshi rushes over to the sword.
He opens the sword and holds it. The colours start to change dramatically. Red to orange to green to pink to purple and then finally black.
Hanada sits there his mouth wide open and his jaw rolling on the floor.
"Black? That's crazy." Hanada says with disbelief.
"I remember my ancestors had made a sword for a swordsman and his sword was also black. He then became the most well-known demon slayer for using multiple breathing styles. I guess that just passed on to me." Hanada explained still in shock.
"I'm guessing black is bad?" Takeshi questions, his hopes shattered.
"Well, not really. You just can't stick with one breathing style you use different ones." Hanada explained, trying to keep the boy's hopes alive.
"Oh? Well, it can't be that bad."
"Meow." Meowshi had returned and came in through the wall.
"AHHH. Oh, it's just Meowshi. I will never get used to you." Takeshi screamed but then held his head in his hands.
"You're just a scared little dog. Anyways here." Meowshi said. She was trying not to talk badly about her species."
"A dog?" Takeshi asked. Meowshi turned around and on her back was a bag with a letter. Takeshi took the letter out and read what it had to say.
To Takeshi Hasegawa,
Now that you have you're sword, your first mission is at the Hanamura village to the east of Japan. There is a demon who's eating little children, leaving families with no heirs. Go quick you must get there before daybreak.
From Demon Slayer Corps.
"So where is your first stop?" Hanada being nosy, asked.
"Hanamura village to the east" Takeshi replied, gathering his items.
"Hanamura? As in the flower? Yeah, good luck with that one." Hanada scoffs then gets up. His eyes returned to normal. "Well, I'm off to bed. And Hasegawa.." Hanada stopped.
"Y-Yes." Takeshi replied.
"Never break my sword you hear me. Now good luck. I'll see you later." Hanada said coldly. He walked up the stairs vanishing in the darkness of the upstairs.
"Okay. Thank you!" Takeshi runs out the home and to the main gate. There he runs into Fukunaga.
"Good morning Hasegawa, ready to leave?" Fukunaga greets Takeshi.
Takeshi bows and says, "Yes sir I am ready. And thank you for the food"
"You're very welcome my boy." Fukunaga nodded and patted Takeshi's head.
"Hmh, Peace and blessing be upon you!" Takeshi nodded in agreement then started to wave as his distance got farther away from Fukunaga.
The gates open and Takeshi leaves, looking back once or twice. "What a nice village."
"I couldn't tell you." Meowshi appeared again.
"Can you show me where Hanamura village is?" "Yes, I guess I'll show you. Follow me." Meowshi runs past Takeshi but just in front of. Guiding him to the Hanamura Village.
