Chapter 17: Sora did nothing wrong (17)
As Sora got home from the test, he tried his best to avoid the smug Uryu.
Time skip
"SORA!!!!!"
What seemed to be a wide grin was on Sora's face.
Sora walked out of the training ground, he politely made his way toward the living room, where Uryu could be seen, both of his hands glued to his hair.
"Trying out a new look cousin," He said looking at Uryu trying his best to hide his smile.
He had done his hair and face in such a way that he looked innocent.
"Sora, did you put glue in Uryu's hair gel?" Ryuken asked though his voice made it sound like he already knew the answer to that question.
"Why would I do such a thing?"
Sora acted as if he felt like they were accusing him of something he did not do.
"Where were you the whole day?"
Ryuken gazed at the boy but Sora did not fold, with a calm expression on his face, he looked at Ryuken and said.
"I was the training, of course, Grandpa was teaching me how to better switch between blue Vein and Blue Arteries, right Grandpa"
Sora had a light expression on his face, he looked rather innocent really.
Ryuken turns his gaze to look at his father.
Sokken nodded along.
"Yes, I was teaching him all day, Sora never left my sight, he always stayed within my line of sight"
Ryuken let out a sigh, Sora had an alibi, it wasn't like he could accuse him of doing that without solid proof.
"Maybe Uryu-kun had set it up for me, I was supposed to take a bath earlier, however, I decided to train instead, and it would be a waste to take a bath than train, I rather take a bath after I am done,"
Uryu stayed quiet, this motherfucker, how dare he blame him like this.
"Yesterday in class, you said you were going to do this"
"Why would I do such a thing Uryu-kun, I am not that stupid, aren't you supposed to be the smarter one"
Uryu's glasses gleamed as he adjusted them, he adjusted them, he narrowed his eyes at Sora, he wasn't buying the innocent act, not even for a second.
There had to be a flaw in this air-tight alibi. He just needed to find it.
"Sora, if you were with Grandpa the entire day, then who made lunch? I saw the leftovers in the kitchen. Someone had to cook, and it sure wasn't Grandpa."
"Oh, that's easy, Uryu-kun. Grandpa and I ate some of the dried provisions we kept in the pantry. I didn't need to make lunch. You know how strict Grandpa is when it comes to training; he wouldn't want to waste time cooking." Sora's expression remained unchanging as he explained everything.
"Indeed. Sora is very disciplined when he's training. We focused entirely on refining his control over Blut techniques. A quick snack was all we needed." Sokken words basically solidly Sora alliby even further.
Uryu clenched his fists. That explanation fits. Too well. But he wasn't done yet.
"Then explain why I heard someone humming in the bathroom earlier. It sounded just like you!"
"Humming? Oh, that must've been you imagining things, Uryu-kun. Perhaps the stress of the test has gotten to you. I was training with Grandpa the entire time. Maybe you mistook the sound of the wind through the training grounds?" Sora acted confused while saying all of this, truly he deserve an award.
"Wind?!" Uryu barked, his voice rising. "The training grounds are outside!"
"Exactly, Uryu-kun," Sora replied with an air of innocence that would've convinced a jury. "I think your frustration might be clouding your judgment. I truly feel bad that you're accusing me of something so heinous."
Uryu's jaw tightened as he looked to his father for backup, but Ryuken only sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Uryu, enough."
"But—"
"Enough." Ryuken's voice was firmer this time. "You don't have proof, and your cousin has given a clear and reasonable account of his day. If you're going to make accusations, you need evidence, not assumptions. Apologize to Sora."
Uryu's mouth opened and closed like a fish gasping for air. He turned to Sokken, hoping for some reprieve, but the old man did not help.
He gave up eventually realizing he had no proof against Sora's schemes, he was sure Sora was the one who did it.
"I'm sorry, Sora." He did not really feel sorry at all, he was sure Sora had done it.
Sora clasped his hands together, his face lighting up in a show of benevolence. "Oh, Uryu-kun, you don't need to apologize. I know how stressful tests can be. It's okay to feel frustrated. I forgive you."
As Uryu raised his head, he saw it, Sora's expression looked quite deceitful, from that look alone he knew that Sora was lying, he was somehow the one who had done it.
However, he had no proof.
