Chapter 55: Aizen Sosuke (55)
Making his way through the Soul Society, he knew she was close.
All he had to do was find her.
"Shit, there are two of them. Split up," the group leader announced.
While the group of Shinigami was busy chasing his clone, he slowly made his way toward the Senzaikyū. He knew this was where he would find her.
Making sure not to make a scene, he quietly made his way there. He didn't really catch anyone's attention—after all, with the look he went after, he was as generic as one could be. Imagine the most generic person ever.
Plus, he was acting as a Squad 4 member. TL;DR, no one even batted an eye at him.
He probably would have had an easier time as a member of the Stealth Force. Oh well.
Once he made his way toward the Senzaikyū, he walked inside. There, he saw her.
Rukia, in all of her glory.
Her eyes looked rather devoid of emotion.
"What is a Squad 4 member doing here?" she asked questioningly. They shouldn't have access to such an area.
"Yes, what is a member of the Fourth Division doing here?" a gentle voice could be heard saying.
Turning around, Sora was met with the biggest cockblock to his plan. It was a tall, lean man of light complexion, whose hair and eyes were a similar tone of brown.
The man seemed to be a captain—a gentle one at that. He kept his hair in a soft, shaggy curtain style and wore black, square-framed glasses, along with his calm eyes.
It made him look disarming, if not scholarly. For his attire, the man donned a standard Shinigami Shihakusho with a long-sleeved captain's haori, its inside being a pale turquoise to signify the Fifth Division.
'What is he doing here?' Sora internally groaned. He had executed everything perfectly, and all of the Shinigami's attention was far away from where Rukia was.
He could sense it—everyone was far from here. So why couldn't he sense this man?
Internally, he groaned again. This man was a captain. Judging by his restricted Reiatsu output, he had about the same amount of Reiatsu as Sora. Nah, fuck that—about 25% more. However, the amount a normal person—one who wasn't an anomaly like Sora—would sense was just baseline captain level.
Fuck.
He needed to come up with an excuse. Fast.
Shit.
"I have reason to believe that one of the Ryoka is making his way here."
"Oh? What might have made you jump to such a conclusion?" the man asked with a very gentle expression on his face.
Bastard.
"I noticed that the Ryoka appeared bluish in nature. Their movement felt sluggish—it felt like a diversion."
"Why not tell your superiors about it? Why did you come here, if I may ask?"
Sora hated dealing with the smart type. Each of the man's questions was meant to dig him into a deeper hole any time he opened his mouth to answer them.
"Well, I am a newbie, and I am from Division 4. No one really took me seriously."
The amount of BS he was spouting was insane. However, none of what he said was a lie, and he was sure even the man saw that.
"So, you were worried that the prisoner would be rescued. How brave of you."
FUCK YOU, was what Sora was thinking as he gave the man a gentle smile.
"Now that you have enlightened me to such news, I shall report it to the Captain-Commander. You can rest now."
...
Translation: he would have to give a statement himself to Yamamoto.
Yeah, fuck that.
"Can... you... do it...? I don't think... I will... be.. able... to speak.. in front... of the Captain-Commander.... I am kind... of introverted..."
He deserved an Oscar.
"Do not fret. The Captain-Commander is quite nice. I am sure he wouldn't do anything too rash... unless, of course, you have something to hide."
...
...
FUCK HIM AND HIS FAMILY.
Every single word from this man's mouth was like a trap. Fuck.
"I will make sure to report it to the Commander," he said politely, bowing his head and walking off.
Meanwhile, Aizen gave him a gentle smile as he waved the boy off.
"What a thoughtful boy," the man muttered.
He turned his gaze toward Rukia, who seemed to be staring at the boy as he walked off.
"Rest well, Miss Rukia," the man added softly before leaving the room.
Though before he left, he made sure to leave behind a whole squad of members from the Stealth Force.
Meanwhile, with Sora...
"Fucking four-eyed bastard," Sora muttered to himself, annoyed. He hated feeling like he was being toyed with.
The man felt like someone who was putting on a mask. His presence felt fake, and thus, Sora knew something was off.
The man wasn't as smart as he thought he was.
POV Change: Rukia
As Rukia stood there in her cell, in her hand, what seemed to be a Ginto could be seen, alongside a light note attached to it.
This settled it. That Shinigami back there... was indeed Sora.
She wondered when he had time to give this to her. Shouldn't this place not let any Reishi out or in?
Then, she realized her hairpin was gone...
So instead of using Reishi from the outside, he just used something she already had to make this.
He seemed quite determined to save her.
