The Adaptive Quincy of Bleach

Chapter 54: The plan (54)

Sora, in a dark alleyway, could be seen analyzing the Reishi composition of several knocked-out Shinigami.

Some of them were from the Stealth Squad. The shit they showed him amazed his little mind.

He was curious. The wheel above his head spun multiple times as Sora's study of a Shinigami's body reached a new stage.

The way the Reishi in their bodies seemed to be contained—stuff like that amazed him.

He wanted to see what he could do with this newfound knowledge.

The hair from a Shinigami's body seemed to vanish, alongside his clothes. Soon enough, the Shinigami himself vanished into thin air.

He had been utterly absorbed by Sora's Ginto. It was quite simple to do, since the Shinigami was already knocked out and out of Reiatsu.

Technically, Sora didn't commit murder. The man had died at the hands of his own allies. It wasn't Sora's fault that his clone ran out of Reishi, and when the two men tried to pierce it at the same time, they ended up piercing each other in the heart.

He was just a mere spectator—who now had turned the Shinigami's corpse into pure Reishi.

For the next three minutes, he studied the Reishi components. Something special was in that Reishi, he could tell.

The Shinigami's memories were probably gone, but his physical attributes should still be there.

So, after making sure the coast was clear, he began his experiment.

He used a new move he created.

The name was Wandelhülle, part of the shadow art in his new style. The full name was Schattenkunst: Wandelhülle, meaning Shadow Arts: Shifting Veil.

Sora began by gathering the Reishi stored in his Ginto (PS: the Shinigami's Reishi). Using that Reishi, he enveloped his body in a thin yet flexible layer that covered him like a second skin.

This Reishi layer served as the foundation for the illusion.

This method was rather crude and unrefined. Later on, Sora would be able to do it without the whole taking another living being's Reishi part.

Since this was his first time, it wasn't perfect.

By manipulating the density and flow of the gathered Reishi, Sora began to sculpt his new physical outline.

He made himself appear a bit shorter, from 6 feet to 5'8", changing from a lean build to a more skinny one.

Mixing whatever he was doing with his Maskenwand spell—granted, it was still active, just now a bit more buffed than usual—he began making his Reiatsu resemble that of the recently deceased man by using the man's Reiryoku as a blueprint.

He sighed a bit. If his focus faltered even slightly, his disguise would fall apart.

Strangely, he had gained some light memories. Nothing too amazing—just some names and techniques the Shinigami had learned.

If only Sora could infuse himself with the whole of Soul Society.

However, as he finished the technique, he felt something off with the Reishi in Soul Society.

Using his control over Reishi, he banished away whatever the fuck was looking at him.

Somewhere in a place filled with darkness.

A man with long hair, a gentle-looking body, and a somber expression could be seen

"A Quincy..."

No other words left the man's mouth.

It seemed like this boy was making it very hard for him to be observed. How intriguing.

Even if the man's Bankai allowed him to practically fuse with Soul Society, at the end of the day, no one could control Reishi better than a Quincy who had mastered the art of plundering Reishi..

He would rather not risk exposing himself. This boy was practically his weakness—a walking kryptonite, one might say.

Instead, his gaze shifted toward the captains of the Gotei 13, as the boy seemed to have also limited his access to where his allies were.

He was intrigued. However, he was not going to reveal himself so soon.

Meanwhile, with Sora.

"That was off," he muttered to himself, pushing away the weird presence he had been feeling this whole time. He better ask Yoruichi about it later.

"Conceal the truth, shift the light, unleash the Shadow Veil."

Once the technique was fully complete, Sora looked like any regular bum—oh, he meant Soul Reaper. Yep, that was his thought.

He needed a very basic name too. A name so forgettable that people would never remember him.

"...Ryo Soji."

Yup, that was his name now.

The other options were Bob, Ren, and other random stuff. Truly just forgettable names.

He wondered if Y/N would work...

Deciding against that thought, he joined a group of Shinigami passing by, blending into their group meaninglessly.

Now, time to bide his time until he found Rukia.

POV Change

As Toshiro managed to catch up to the Ryoka, he took out his blade and rushed in.

The two clashed for a bit, but it was abundantly clear that Toshiro was far, far above the Ryoka in terms of everything, really.

Once he was done freezing the Ryoka, he looked at Rangiku before saying,

"Hand him over to the Second Division," he said coldly.

The Ryoka gave Toshiro a glare that could kill.

"Well, that was quick," Rangiku added, approaching the Ryoka.

"He was no challenge, really. More of a bother than anything else."

Toshiro then noticed the Ryoka glowing.

Wait.

This felt familiar.

"Rangiku, jump back!" he shouted.

The very next second, an explosion the size of a football field erupted.

Luckily, neither of them was hurt. Their Shunpo allowed them to move far away and avoid damage.

Toshiro looked at the scene. Something was off.

That explosion did not feel normal at all.

Something about this whole situation felt like a...
