The Alpha's Fated Secret

Chapter 17: Some Drops Of Blood

The three of them walked over the streets of the pack, heading towards their relative residence together, but rather much in a slow pace as they chatted along the way— and with the conversation being more between Rylee and Paisley as Liam barely interacted with the ladies.

It was past 8:00 pm, and people barely moved around the streets that evening making the environment seemed quite quiet. Liam listened carefully with his wolf senses trying to sense anything in the unacceptable cold environment as the two ladies were lost in their conversation and too busy to mind their surroundings.

"So wait, you mean Seth was once engaged?" Paisley said to Rylee questionably as she smelled the hint of a hot gossip she hadn't learned of.

"Not actually, more like almost. He rejected her before he even knew her full name." Rylee said laughingly but still serious.

"Really! why haven't I heard of it, ever?" Paisley asked curiously.

"That's understandable, after all Lady Drake only wanted to get rid of him and thought of using a wife to pin him down." Rylee replied also continuing. "Well, we all know your cousin, his playboy instinct kicked in on time and he refused to even meet her".

"That's funny". Paisley replied with a scoff. She looked at Liam who kept scanning around ever since. "Hey Junior, would you pardon if I asked why you've been uneasy with the surroundings for the past fifteen minutes?" Paisley asked.

Liam once again kept his gaze back and looked at her for a split second before hitting his eyes on the road again. "Thought I sensed something unusual." He replied.

"Well, in as much as the perimeter seems cold, It's at least unclouded not to notice anything strange going on around. Just rest assured, not many have the guts to sneak around Nightshade Nook". She said reassuring Liam.

"Ok, I'll lower my guards down a bit." He replied her heeding to her words with respect.

Paisley nodded in response. The truth was that she had felt the familiar feeling of being followed along the way, she just couldn't get the others involved as she knew quite well who was actually being followed.

Rylee leaned closer to Liam as they arrived as a turning point, seemed like they were to part ways now. "Ok sis, our houses are this way" she said with noth she and Liam turning their direction to another junction.

Paisley bid them goodbye as they parted ways. She walked through the road with only a few people passing by and the lights illuminating the streets. The cold wind kept blowing her hair and she shrugged in the cold.

Just then, she hears a sound around her like something moving speedily against the shrubs and flowers. She turned her head responsively, cautiously scanning through everything.

She took a deep breath, inhaling and smelling to find anything strange, he wolf senses couldn't pick up anything unusual, so she instinctively turned her head back, but her eyes instantly catching an absurd sight.

A black wolf was staring intensely at her, like it could pounce on her at any moment. Its Black eyes clearly staring at her, it's white fangs gnawing dangerously up at her.

She hesitates, slowly moving back while it came forward approaching. She tried going circular, moving their angles snd her back facing her destination, the black wolf however noticed this smartly, it rushed towards her jumping over her.

She doges, not attempting to run away, just waiting for it's next attack. The wolf looks at her furiously, it jumped on her again while she took a step back attaining a good stance before kicking it back.

It howled angrily while it's eyes glowed, she watches closely as it ran towards her again, faster than usual and almost impossible for her to see through it's movements.

It comes closer, using it's claws as a weapon against her as it tries to attack her. She maintains her stance, though barely being able see all the attacks, she manages to dodge and also give it a few hit.

She kicks it away and it goes tumbling, shifting into a human. The man dressed in a black trouser and hooded trench coat with a matching turtle neck beneath it, had his face covered by a mask under his hood, he looks at her, standing up straight while she watches his undefined movements closely.

"A little welcome gift from someone you know." He says as he dusts away the dust particles from his trench coat.

"You must really have some nerve don't you, coming here to huant me down based on some scrambled order". She replied in a scoff.

"Ohh please, don't go over the hills telling me I'm courting death just by trying to take out the daughter of the Beta" he says.

"I'll be direct then, who sent you?" She asked with a dangerous glare.

He puts his hands into his pockets, coming forward with a step, "I'm just having fun". He replied.

"Well then", she said holding her bag to her back as she brought out a pen, "i think you'd answer best to the packs security system." She said before rushing forward with much agility and speed as she pressed the head of the pen ejecting a thin blade from the pen.

The guy dodged as he teleported behind her, giving her a miss. Her eyes ran bloodshot as she striked again, faster and much more anticipating his next move.

He catches her right hand while she let the pen drop, and catching it with the second hand, she swings it aggressively at his face while he shifts backs dodging but not quite fully. He touches his face, feeling the slight cut made as he beheld his own blood dripped on his finger.

"You know, I wanted to keep this simple, but seems like you've provoked this guy within, now I'm gonna have to take it the hard way." He said as he looked at her with bloodlust. He's eyes glowed golden as he protracted his claws, he rushes towards her while she comes at him.

The two ends up in a chaotic duel as he suppresses her by holding her bound to the wall with a spell. He walks towards her as she struggles to break free. He controls the pen on the ground as he made a cut on her wrist, her blood drips slowly as he collects them in a cube.

"Nice playing" he says before disappearing into the darkness while she falls to the ground with a thump. She stands up again with her body aching. She ignored the pain as she grabbed her bag from the ground while she slowly moved towards the mansion's direction.

She arrives and pushes the door open, luckily no one was in the living room except a maid who was busy. She hurried upstairs to her room before anyone would notice these multiple blood stains on her body.

As she shut the door. She quickly undressed herself, grabbing a towel and hurrying into the bathroom to soak her tired body in. She lay down soaking in the warm bath as she healed herself.

Luckily this opponent had some conscience and didn't use a silver weapon on her, or it would have been a dire problem with the healing as there wasn't any medical aid in her room.

Seemed like she should have thought about it sooner.
