The Alpha's Stripper Mate: Sold To Be His.

Chapter 16: 16

NYLAH

I stood there, my eyes locked in his, somehow hoping that he would say something or do something to the girl who poured alcohol on me.

I was hoping that he would tell her to apologize and warn everyone around not to touch me or else they'd have him to contend with but he just stood there, unfazed by the scenery.

"You look good Alpha," The lady who poured a drink on me said flirtatiously.

"And of course my lady, you look stunning, what a perfect match, I'm honored to serve you." She remarked Alpha Xavier's intended mate with a bow.

I didn't know when she walked up to Xavier, my gaze was pinned on him, expecting him to fight for me or say something that I didn't know when the sophisticated lady walked to him and stood beside him.

She looked at me with inquisition, like she expected to see me or she knew who I was and this made my tummy churn. The feeling her look gave me was not a good one.

The bonfire was now paused and all eyes were on me, some of the pack members murmured and I could hear them asking who I was or where I came from.

Others said I looked hot while some said I looked shabby, despite all their comments, my gaze was on Alpha Xavier, what he thought, and how he felt seeing me in this situation.

Why he didn't come to pick me up himself, why he still had me brought to his pack when he would soon be married and why he hadn't reprimanded the sassy girl who belittled me in front of everyone. But when he finally spoke, I knew that I shouldn't have hoped for more, I shouldn't have felt too important.

"Go get cleaned up, you're taking all the attention." He said curtly and turned to the crowd who were bewildered

"We didn't come here to watch a drenched female now did we?" His attention shifted from me totally and back to the event of the night like I didn't matter at all.

As he walked away, addressing the crowd, his so-called mate walked up to me, with less attention now on us and more on the Alpha, she scoffed and let out a slight chuckle, shaking her head in the process.

"Looking for sympathy isn't what I was expecting but you didn't meet my expectations at all." She walked away with squared shoulders, leaving me to process her words.

'If the Alpha's bride-to-be said that to me, it meant that she had heard about me and even anticipated meeting me.

She knew who I was to the Alpha and still agreed to get married to him?' Different thoughts were flooding my mind and I soon forgot that I was still standing at the spot, drenched like a chicken caught in the rain.

"Do you need someone to drag you away before you go and get yourself cleaned up?" It was Sofia's unmistakable voice.

I raised my head in the direction of her voice, breaking out of my thoughts for a moment.

"I thought the Alpha told you to go get cleaned up. Aren't you embarrassed enough?" She asked, trying to sound impassive but I knew that she felt sorry for me.

Without a word from me, she led me out of the crowd that had begun to cheer again and we didn't stop walking until we got to the front of the building with my room.

Sofia turned to me, her expression mixed with anger and pity.

"Why did you let her belittle you like that? One minute I'm gone and you turn the pack's attraction for pity and mockery." I expected to hear anger in her voice but instead, I heard pity and helplessness.

She probably felt bad that I was treated that way on my first day trying to blend with the pack. And probably felt like she had failed at her job of taking care of me.

"You don't need to worry, it's just alcohol." I smiled through my words but it wasn't enough to convince her.

"You're smiling now because it's 'just' alcohol. What if it was hot water or oil? What if it was something that couldn't be reversed?" She asked, raising her voice slightly and I pressed my lips tightly with the realization that anything I said would further provoke her.

"You need to stand up for yourself, the Alpha will not always help you. I know you have a situation with him but from what I saw back there, it's useless over here. Over here, he's going to choose his people over you." I felt tiny blades cut through my heart as her words sank in.

She was right, she had to be right. There are signs that whatever had happened before my coming to the pack didn't matter any more.

Giving up my virginity to the Alpha didn't even matter to him like I thought it did, it was all a mirage, all a mask I'd used to cover the truth; I was just a property he bought, something he owned and could do with as he pleased.

"Go to bed Nylah, we'll talk tomorrow. I'm serving at the bonfire, I can't stay with you tonight." Sofia walked away after finishing her words.

Not that I wanted her to stay with me that night, but I needed time to think about my life and how I ended up in this situation.

I was living fine, no matter how little my pay was back then, it was manageable but Arianna's health pushed me to the wall and I went against not only my rule but the club's rule and was told before I could even process things that I no longer had a job and was now the ruthless Alpha's personal stripper.

The night air suddenly felt stiff as I remembered my friend who I was now several miles away from, I didn't even know my way out of this hell of a pack and I was now surrounded by hundreds of guards unlike at the mansion when there were only twenty guards at a time.

If I couldn't escape when I had only twenty guards on my back, how could I escape when there were more than a hundred here? All of them knew my situation with the Alpha and the fact that my absence might mean their death.

'How could I blindly agree to such a life?' I asked myself with bitterness churning within me.

I could've stalled, or better still refused when the guard told me of my movement that day.

Who knows? Maybe another dancer had been brought to the mansion and the Alpha needs his space with her.

Maybe I was on the course of being just another lady who the Alpha used. I swallowed hard, pushing back the bitterness in my throat.

I ran into the building and headed for my room with tears in my eyes.
