The Backbender (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Waking up.

"Kanuk! Thank god you are okay!" Kanuk smiled as Katara embraced him in a hug. Gran Gran smiled at seeing her granddaughter so worried about Kanuk.

"Katara, it's okay. I am okay." Katara buried her face in Kanuk's chest, and she continued to stay like that for a few minutes before she looked up.

Katara wiped her eyes before she looked up. She asked what happened to Kanuk and why he was covered in such bad injuries. Kanuk answered her questions one by one.

"What happened to you? I leave for an hour, and you are almost dead!" Kanuk smiled as he rubbed the back of his head. In his defence, he did not know that Ice Stalkers had such a good smell.

"After you were gone, I was attacked by a huge animal. But I am okay now, so it's nothing to worry about." Kanuk explained as he pulled Katara closer to his chest.

"You idiot. Don't make me so worried ever again!" Katara sighed as she let Kanuk hug her. A smile made its way onto her face as she was finally relieved.

The two of them remained like that for an hour before Kanuk felt his body was almost completely healed from his injuries. The only residue was the scar on his arm and his eye.

The scar resembled the one that Kakashi had.

'My body almost healed the residue injuries in a single hour. This new Man of Steel attribute is not playing around!' Kanuk smiled as he lay on the bed with Katara in his arms.

Gran Gran was making some food for them with a smile. The fire crackled as she stirred the pot full of good soup. Kanuk felt his enhanced smell pick up the scent of the food like never before.

'My senses have improved several times compared to before.' Kanuk thought as he heard footsteps of Sokka walking towards the tent. A minute later, a worried Sokka entered the tent.

Seeing that Kanuk was awake, he walked up to him.

"Kanuk, how are you holdin up?" Kanuk smiled as he heard the worry in Sokka's tone. He knew that he was just a big tsundere.

"I am okay, though I need food to refill my energy." Sokka smiled as relief filled his eyes. Time passed, and the food was finally ready. Gran Gran served it to them.

"All 3 of you, come and eat. I made some soup for all of you, especially Kanuk. Eat up, and you will heal in no time!" Gran Gran said with a smile as he handed Kanuk a big bowl of hot and steamy soup.

Kanuk smiled before he started to eat, and upon taking a taste, his eyes opened wide. His enhanced taste could pick the flavour of the soup like never before.

It felt like he was eating dirt before compared to the taste in his mouth. Like a wolf in hunger, Kanuk started tearing the soup up like there was no tomorrow.

In minutes, he finished the bowl and then the next. The entire pot of soup was gone soon. Finished by Kanuk alone. Wiping his mouth, Kanuk let out a satisfied sigh.

"Man, that was good!" Gran Gran smiled as she took a bite of her own bowl. She cooked this since Kakun was small. Why does he like it so much more?

"Are you tired still?" Katara asked with worry in her voice as she dug into her bowl of soup. Kanuk smiled as he nodded his head. Standing up, he clenched his fist as he felt the power in his veins.

'System interface!'

[Attribute: Man of Steel.]

Upon seeing how massive his stats were compared to before, Kanuk could not help but smirk. Turning to the bed, he saw his now-dried clothes and picked them up.

Putting his clothes up, Kanuk let out a comfortable silence. Looking at his hand, he turned towards Katara, who had finished her bowl of soup.

"Want to go practice?" Lanuk asked, and Katara immediately stopped him. She glared at him, causing Kanuk to start sweating.

"Actually, I am good." Kanuk smiled as he rubbed the back of his head. Kanuk shook his head with a scared smile. He walked next to Katara and sat down.

"We can train tomorrow then." Katara nodded in acceptance, although she was reluctant to do that. Gran Gran looked at the two of them in confusion before a light went off in her head.

'Is Kanuk a Water Bender?... I see, so that's how he survived.' Kanuk sighed before a warm smile made it onto her face. Katara and Kanuk stood up and left Gran Gran's tent.

Leaving Sokka to clean the bowls.

Upon exiting the tent, Kanuk and Katara walked towards Kanuk's tent. Entering inside, the two of them lay on their bed, Katara resting her head and leg on Kanuk.

"Kanuk, I was worried about you. I thought you would leave me like my mother," Katara said. Her voice tinged with worry. Kanuk looked down, seeing her worry-stricken face, and his heart trembled.

"Katarara, it's okay. I swear on my life that I will never leave you." Kanuk swore as he pulled Katara closer to his chest. Kanuk leaned down, burying his face in her neck,

"Promise?" Katara asked as she looked up at him. Kanuk smiled before replying with a kiss on her lips.

"I promise."

They embraced each other, the stress and the worry catching up to them as they felt their eyes close. The two fell asleep and did not wake up until 12 tomorrow.

In the afternoon, Kanuk opened his single eye. He sighed as he was not used to seeing with only a single eye. Losing an eye is bad, but Kanuk's enhanced eyesight could see better than before.

Kanuk's movement caused the sleeping Katara to wake up with a cute yawn. Kanuk smiled as he looked at this. Katara opened her eyes and smiled as she looked up at Kanuk.

"You look handsome." Kanuk felt his heart accelerate at her words. he smiled before leaning down. Kanuk took her lips in a kiss. The two of them embraced each other.

"Ready to get back to training?" Kanuk asked Katara, who nodded her head with a smile. The two stood up and washed their face before eating some food.

The two left the tribe, but this time, they stayed just far enough that they were able to use the water from the ocean. Kanuk was not worried about being attacked again.

His new strength is enough to kill the Ice Stalker with a single attack. If he managed to stab the Ice Staker with his spear so deep when it attacked. He could skewer the beast with his spear now.

"Let's get to it!" Kanuk said with a smirk as he punched his fist into his palm. Katara smiled before she went to training.

'Today, I must reach level 8.' Kanuk thought as he walked towards the water.
