Chapter 112: Return to sender
I was so stunned that Marie managed to create a real Patronus that mine disappeared.
Marie's Patronus, which resembled the big sister from my dream, charged at the Dementors as if going to war.
The Dementors fled from the Patronus' aura, but the damage was already done, and Harry fell from his broom while Cedric, unaware of what had happened, grabbed the Golden Snitch.
The Patronus dove at high speed to catch the body of Gryffindor's Seeker, who was about to crash.
"Arresto Momentum."
Harry's fall was slowed down by Dumbledore, which gave the Patronus enough time to catch him.
"Wait for the broom!"
Turning my head frantically, I thought I saw a shadow being carried away from the ground.
"Hold on, but that's the direction of the Whomping Willow!"
Hermione and Ron rushed to Harry's unconscious body while I asked Ginny, Luna, Marie, and Neville to hurry and catch the broom.
I tried to use the Summoning Charm to bring back the broom, but the wind was so strong that it was carried away.
"Why does Harry always have such bad luck?"
Indeed, the broom wasn't headed toward the Whomping Willow; instead, it was shooting straight ahead at full speed.
"Watch for the impact!"
We all looked at Marie, who was acting as if we were all riding the Nimbus 2000.
The broom didn't even have time to touch the tree before it swung its branch against it, reducing it to splinters.
"Accio broom pieces."
Now that it was smaller, we could bring back the fragments and form a pile of what was once the third-best broom.
"Now, what do we do? Who's going to give these leftovers to Harry?"
"I think it's better if his friends are the ones to break the news."
We all agreed not to carry that burden, so we wrapped the pieces in a cloth, handed them to Hermione and Ron, and explained the situation before leaving.
We could hear Cedric trying to convince Madam Hooch to restart the game because it would be fair play, but I heard the Gryffindor captain refuse, saying, "A win is a win."
The Slytherins were so thrilled that Gryffindor lost that they even stopped exaggerating Malfoy's arm injury—an arm that had been healed a long time ago.
Every Ravenclaw on the team was ready to crush the Slytherins and give them the humiliation they deserved.
A week later, the match between Ravenclaw and Slytherin began, and everyone—except me, Hermione, and the team members—was shocked to see a real Firebolt.
Lee Jordan spent the beginning of the match advertising the broom instead of commenting on the game, which led to him losing his spot as commentator. We then heard Professor McGonagall take over, delivering only the essential play-by-play.
Finally, the moment I had been anticipating arrived—a Bludger that the Slytherin Beater had hit rushed straight toward Marie's head.
Without even looking at the growing threat, she caught the Bludger with her left hand, managing to hold it without any damage except for a slight recoil from the impact.
Everyone was shocked by this action, and to add to the surprise, the Bludger glowed a purple color, matching her eyes.
"Return to sender."
She swung the Bludger back, hitting the opposing player.
The match ended in a crushing defeat for Slytherin because Marie always kept a Bludger in her hand and swung it whenever necessary.
By the end, the opposing Beater made sure to avoid sending any Bludgers near my girlfriend.
I could hear the teachers already preparing a rule against this ability.
