The Devil CEO’s Reborn Lover

Chapter 32: A Hidden Secret in Her Belly

The sun filtered through the sheer curtains as Wu Mei stirred in bed, her face pale and her brows furrowed in discomfort. The scent of ginger still lingered faintly in the air from the night before, but this morning, something felt different. Her stomach churned, not like the usual nervous tension she sometimes felt before an important event—but deeper, heavier.

She sat up slowly, one hand pressed against her abdomen, the other clutching the edge of the bed. A sudden wave of dizziness made her sway.

"Ugh..." she muttered, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. Her throat felt dry, her body heavy.

Qin Yanzhou wasn't in the room. He had left a note on the nightstand: "Went to the office early. Call me if you need anything. Love you. - YZ."

She smiled faintly but the moment was short-lived as another wave of nausea rolled over her. She dashed to the bathroom, barely making it to the sink before she gagged.

After rinsing her mouth and splashing water on her face, Wu Mei stared at her reflection. Her skin was paler than usual. Her eyes—though still bright—seemed tired. Her hands unconsciously drifted to her lower belly.

Could it be?

Her heart skipped a beat.

The thought sent a ripple of warmth and terror through her.

She grabbed her phone, her hands trembling, and called her trusted doctor from the last time she had been ill.

"Doctor Xu? It's Wu Mei. I think I need a quick check-up. Privately, please."

An hour later, she was sitting in the quiet, private clinic room. The nurse had already taken her vitals, and now Dr. Xu entered with a kind smile.

"Miss Wu. What brings you here today? You look a little pale."

Wu Mei hesitated, her fingers twisting together. "I've been feeling dizzy, nauseous... my appetite is strange, and I slept almost ten hours last night, but I still feel exhausted."

Dr. Xu nodded, already jotting down notes. "Let's run a few tests, just to be sure. Have you had your cycle this month?"

Wu Mei paused. She hadn't even thought about it. Her mind had been clouded with so many things—the nightmares, the dance competition, her past and Qin Yanzhou's love.

"I… I don't think so. It might be late."

The doctor gave her a reassuring smile. "Let's do a quick blood test. The results will take only twenty minutes. Just relax."

Twenty minutes felt like hours. Wu Mei sat in the room, nervously tapping her fingers against the armrest.

When Dr. Xu returned, she held a clipboard and a knowing smile.

"Congratulations, Miss Wu. You're pregnant. About four weeks."

The words echoed in her ears.

Pregnant.

Her mouth opened, but no sound came. Her hands instinctively wrapped around her belly.

A life… inside her?

"Are you alright?" Dr. Xu asked softly.

Wu Mei nodded slowly, then whispered, "Yes… just surprised. I didn't think… it would happen this fast."

Dr. Xu placed a hand gently on her shoulder. "You seem healthy. With rest and care, everything should go smoothly. Do you want me to call your husband?"

Wu Mei froze. Tell Yanzhou? Now?

Her mind raced. He had always been gentle with her, always protective. But ever since she'd been reborn, she had kept so many secrets. Her past life. The betrayal. The pain. She was finally healing—were they ready for this?

"No… not yet. Please, don't tell anyone. Not even him."

Dr. Xu nodded understandingly. "Of course. But you'll need to start prenatal vitamins. I'll send them discreetly to your home. And… congratulations again."

Back home, Wu Mei entered the quiet villa. The afternoon sun had moved higher in the sky, casting soft shadows along the marble floor. She placed a hand on her stomach again. There was no bump, no obvious sign—just the secret that now lived inside her.

She wandered into the garden, her mind filled with emotion. Joy. Fear. Wonder.

When Qin Yanzhou returned home that evening, he found her sitting on the garden swing, looking thoughtful.

"There you are, my wife." His voice was warm as he bent to kiss her cheek. "You weren't answering your phone. I got worried."

She smiled and patted the seat beside her. "Just needed some fresh air."

He sat next to her and wrapped an arm around her. "You look… peaceful today. Tired, but glowing."

She leaned her head on his shoulder. "Do you ever think about… children?"

He blinked, then turned toward her with amusement in his eyes. "That's sudden. Why do you ask?"

She shrugged. "Just wondering. If one day, I gave you a child… what would you do?"

Qin Yanzhou's eyes softened. "I would be the happiest man alive. I'd protect you and our child with everything I have."

Her eyes filled with tears she quickly blinked away. She whispered, "Good to know."

He pulled her into a warm embrace, rubbing her back gently. "You're not telling me something, are you, Mei'er?"

She tensed for a moment, then shook her head. "No. Just thinking out loud."

He accepted the answer—for now. But deep inside, he sensed something had changed.

As night fell, Wu Mei lay in bed, her hand resting over her belly under the covers. She whispered softly to the tiny life growing inside her:

"You came at a strange time… but I will protect you. Just like I was never protected in my last life, I will protect you in this one."

From the doorway, Qin Yanzhou stood watching her with quiet intensity, wondering what was hidden behind her sudden silence and softness.

Little did he know, everything was about to change.

To be continued…

What do you think that will happen in chapter 33?

Will Wu Mei tell him the truth or not.

Or Something bad will happen to Wu Mei.
