The Game Merchant Who Started from the Ninja World

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Can You Help Me Defeat Arlong?

Chapter 34: Can You Help Me Defeat Arlong?

The Corruption Sources in the Pirate World were soul reapers from the Yama Hall faction, and the Yasha King of the First Layer of Hell.

Second-tier Corruption Sources.

Fang Yi had no intention of letting pirate players and ninja players meet—at least not anytime soon.

After all, the Ninja Novice Village had opened first, and most players there were already over level 5. Throwing pirate players into the mix now would only result in them being crushed.

What he wanted was balance, not dominance by one side.

Unlike the Wraiths and Gargoyles that roamed in hordes,

Soul Reapers served the Yama Hall—the most powerful faction in the underworld.

They were messengers who could freely traverse the worlds of the living and the dead and served as commanders on the outer edge of the Yama Hall.

Without an attack on the Hall itself, Soul Reapers couldn't summon underworld troops, so most of their accompanying corruption took the form of wrongful death spirits:

Drowned ghosts, hanged ghosts, dismembered ghosts…

These were the lowest-class spirits. Slightly stronger than Wraiths, they moved alone and were only moderately difficult to hunt.

Above them were white-clad ghosts, born from concentrated resentment.

At the top were red-clad wraiths—like the Wraith General—who served directly under Soul Reapers as the strongest corrupted beings.

"Once pirate players grow strong enough, we can initiate cross-server battles, cross-server arenas…"

Fang Yi's thoughts spun.

Closed systems advanced too slowly.

Competition drove growth.

Once both groups learned about players from other worlds, they'd feel a sense of crisis and urgency, pushing them to hunt monsters and exchange for reward points—exactly the outcome he wanted.

"Too bad… there were no marines in the first batch."

"The Navy is the largest organization in the Pirate World, backed by the World Government. It controls the wealth of countless member nations. If I can drag them into the game, the reward points spent so far would be replenished in no time."

The Ninja World was an unnatural creation—an agrarian society accelerated by the sudden appearance of chakra.

Despite minor tech like refrigerators and lamps, its institutions and philosophies were still primitive.

The Pirate World, on the other hand,

was vast, dotted with countless islands and nations. The Navy grew strong by drawing from global resources and understood the value of preparation.

Their scientific units, like the SSG Special Science Group, already absorbed massive funding.

Once they grasped what the Reincarnation Game offered, the Navy wouldn't need convincing—they'd come knocking.

To ensure their dominance in the game and suppress pirates and nobles alike, they'd throw money at the game like mad.

And Fang Yi would reap all the profits.

Pleased by the thought, he turned to observe the trial progress.

"I am Otrluk, top noble of the Goa Kingdom. From now on, everyone will follow my command…"

Once everyone realized their physical stats had been equalized,

the fear of the Black Cat Pirates began to fade.

Standing atop a rock, Otrluk tried to use his status to regain control, hoping to use these sailors and slaves to hunt corrupted monsters for him.

"Die!"

A ragged slave, burning with rage, leapt at Otrluk.

Clutching a sharp piece of broken stone, he slashed Otrluk's throat.

These were kidnapped civilians, branded and sold into slavery.

Their hatred of filthy nobles ran hotter than any fire.

Given the chance, of course they struck.

"Damn… lowborn scum!"

Otrluk's eyes widened, hands clutching his bleeding neck as he collapsed.

Buzz.

A faint white glow enveloped his body.

Otrluk stood again, pale and shaken, touching his neck where the wound had vanished.

"You filthy peasant! A slave dares assault a noble?! You belong on the guillotine!"

Still gasping for breath,

he had received a prompt at the moment of death—revival in the trial ground cost ten reward points.

Fear overrode reason. He accepted instantly.

Looking down at the slave pinned beneath the guards, he barked, "That's a full million berries! Selling your entire family wouldn't be enough to repay me!"

Everyone present was stunned.

The resurrection proved the Reincarnation Game was real.

The Pirate World had no genjutsu. Especially in East Blue, where Devil Fruits were practically mythical.

But now, they'd seen someone rise from the dead.

Otrluk took a deep breath. "All guards, your monthly pay is now 200,000 berries. Captain, 500,000."

It pained him.

But he knew the truth—he couldn't fight. The only way to stay safe was to secure these guards' loyalty.

"Vice-captain, let's go. If we let them take all the monsters, there won't be any rewards left."

Pirate Palu couldn't wait any longer.

He had seen what the game shop could do and was eager to claim the starter pack.

"Move out!"

Zango glanced at Palu's regrown arm, his own eyes burning with greed.

He gave the order, and over forty Black Cat Pirates charged into the forest.

Soon, the rocky shore was empty—except for one orange-haired figure, still standing.

"Is it true? Can it really grant any wish?"

Nami finally raised her head, eyes filled with emotion as she stared at the fading image of the giant.

"Of course."

Fang Yi nodded.

In theory, as long as a player's level was high enough and they had enough points, they could buy anything from the shop.

Nami bit her lip. "How many points would it take… to defeat Arlong?"

It was a nightmare she hated to recall.

As a child, she didn't even know how to navigate properly. She'd sailed off in a small boat, looking for Marine bases, hoping someone would help destroy Arlong.

But every base in East Blue turned her away in fear at the mention of his name.

Again and again, she hit walls. Again and again, she came back battered.

Eventually, she realized: humans couldn't defeat fish-men.

Just like she couldn't escape Arlong's grasp.

Her only hope was a sliver of light in the darkness—

if she could gather 100 million berries, she could buy back her village.

Fang Yi shook his head. "I'm just a merchant. I don't offer bounties. I won't defeat Arlong for you."

Just as she expected.

Nami didn't look disappointed.

She'd get that ransom money soon enough.

As tempting as the game was, she wasn't about to waste the villagers' freedom fund on it.

Her eyes flickered. "One more thing—if I can exchange berries for points, can I also exchange points back into berries?"

"You can."

Fang Yi nodded. "But most players don't. Because the rate is one point for 50,000 berries."

Nami's eyes widened. "Wait… why is it suddenly worth half as much?"

"Because I need to make a profit."

Fang Yi answered without shame.
