The Gamer who traveled to Honkai: Star Rail

Chapter 381: Chapter 380: Learning from a Player—Kevin’s Experience

Upon receiving confirmation from the Herta's Puppet that the Voidranger had been successfully integrated into the power grid, Pei Guang turned to the group observing him.

"Alright, everyone, our little test run was a success: voidrangers can serve as an excellent energy source. That means for this operation, I need all of you to assist me in capturing more of them."

"The strategy is simple. I'll draw them in, Stelle will handle any stragglers that don't get taunted, and March will help you restrain them using her abilities."

"Any questions?"

Kevin was the first to speak. "Are we… using that same 'stealth' approach from earlier?"

Pei Guang shook his head. "No, that method is way too slow. We only did that to capture one for testing. Now that we know it works, there's no need to sneak around. I'll handle aggro—just observe how March handles containment. After you get a few rounds in, start applying what you've learned."

Kevin nodded. "Got it."

Pei Guang clapped his hands together. "Alright, if there aren't any more questions, let's get started. Aside from those handling equipment disassembly, everyone else should follow March 7th's lead. If you're unsure about anything, ask her. Other than that, just sit back and let me do my job—my taunts are solid."

Kevin acknowledged the plan with a determined nod. As a warrior, he knew firsthand the importance of learning from experienced fighters. This stealth technique might be beyond him, but if Pei Guang had a method to systematically neutralize Voidrangers, he was going to study it carefully.

With the group in position, Pei Guang took a moment to scan the battlefield. After surveying the surrounding area, he pointed toward a tall building in the distance.

"Hold this position on the street. I'll go pull some aggro."

With that, he moved out.

Those unfamiliar with Pei Guang's combat style watched in anticipation. They were eager to see just how he planned to lure in the Voidrangers, and more importantly, how he intended to make capturing them easier.

However, what Pei Guang did next left everyone at the scene with grim expressions.

He walked forward quite a distance, glanced left and right as if spotting an enemy, then suddenly grinned. Under the watchful eyes of the group and the distant Voidranger Trampler, Pei Guang raised his hand and gave a middle finger.

"You wanna come at me?!"

With that taunt, everyone noticed that Pei Guang was holding two black bags, and at the same time, they heard the thunderous stomping of a massive creature.

Yes, they saw Pei Guang hurl the bags outward while simultaneously flipping off the enemy and yelling, "Come at me!" before turning around and running at full speed.

The moment Pei Guang started running, the Trampler behind him roared like a beast gone mad, charging straight after him. And then, they noticed… the Trampler had trash hanging all over it…

Silence filled the air.

Then, Stelle smoothly took over as the commentator. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is Ah Guang's signature taunting technique! According to him, this method works exceptionally well against brainless enemies, as well as those with just barely enough intelligence to think. But if you add trash into the mix, even intelligent ones will prioritize attacking him first. But don't worry—Ah Guang's escape skills are number one in the world!"

As Stelle explained, everyone heard the roar of the Trampler. They immediately recognized it as the rallying cry of the Voidrangers. Once that roar echoed, all Voidrangers in the vicinity would start converging on its location.

From the common Reavers to the more formidable Distorters, they all rushed toward the Trampler's position. And as more of them gathered, Pei Guang successfully taunted an ever-growing horde of enemies.

Before long, under everyone's stunned gazes, Pei Guang was leading a massive swarm of Antimatter Legion Voidrangers on a wild chase through the city: multiple Trampers and every Voidranger in sight had been successfully provoked!

At the same time, as they watched March 7th's demonstration, the group gradually understood the proper method of engagement.

Pei Guang would guide the Voidrangers in large circles. Once he looped back toward them, they would stay hidden and ambush any stragglers who fell behind the pack. With such a massive horde moving together, there were bound to be a few Voidrangers that got pushed out of formation. Their only job was to pick off those that lagged behind.

Additionally, they noticed that the Voidrangers under Pei Guang's taunt were so focused on him that they completely ignored everyone else. Even when some noise was made during combat, drawing the attention of a few Voidrangers, all Pei Guang had to do was shout, "Come at me!" while tossing some extra trash, and just like that, the aggro was pulled right back to him.

Forget the Voidrangers—even the people watching felt compelled to put themselves in the enemies' shoes. They realized that if they were the ones being taunted like this, they would also be absolutely furious and determined to kill Pei Guang, no matter what.

This method was just too aggravating!

Wait… why were they empathizing with the Voidrangers? Pei Guang was their boss! And here he was, using such a noble and righteous method to lure enemies, making their jobs easier. Such an incredibly effective technique—shouldn't they be learning it from their leader?

Among those eager to learn was Kevin. At first, he was confused, then shocked, and finally, deep in thought.

Kevin knew he wasn't the smartest, but when it came to battle—when it came to protecting the people he cared about and defending the world—he was more than willing to absorb any techniques that would help him fight better.

Seeing how enemies could be taunted by a mere middle finger and some trash, he had another revelation.

From Welt, he had learned how to wield power and witnessed the unwavering resolve to protect the world that Welt carried.

But from Pei Guang, he learned something else entirely—battle should not be confined by rigid conventions, and more importantly, one should never let an opponent's antics provoke them too easily.

Just look at how miserably the Voidrangers were falling for Pei Guang's taunts. Those that fell out of formation were either smashed apart by Stelle or critically wounded by March 7th, only to be handed over to Vill-V for disassembly.

For the soldiers fighting alongside them, this was the first time they had ever faced the Legion's Voidrangers with such ease: their only job was to focus on isolated enemies, strike them down as they passed by, and aim to incapacitate them. But even if they accidentally killed a few, it didn't matter—there were plenty more Voidrangers to practice on.

At the same time, the soldiers brought on this mission gradually developed a newfound understanding of combat. As they repeatedly swung their weapons, they slowly mastered the technique of severely injuring opponents without outright killing them.

Pei Guang himself might not have realized it yet, but in the near future, these soldiers he had personally led for the first time—along with Kevin—would go on to become one of the most terrifying forces in the universe.

Others sought to kill and break their enemies, but those who fought under Pei Guang… learned to maximize efficiency after shattering the enemy's will. And in the distant future, even the Abominations of Abundance would harshly condemn Pei Guang's forces for their tactics—but in response, the people of Xianzhou would simply dismiss their complaints as irrelevant.

But that was a story for another time. For now, these soldiers were still under Pei Guang's guidance, learning the ropes under the combined mentorship of Stelle and March 7th.

For the soldiers, the training was an exhilarating experience. However, for Vill-V, this mission was proving to be a mental ordeal. And for the personnel stationed at the rear, who were tasked with receiving the half-dead Voidrangers, the first few arrivals were manageable… but the ones that followed brought with them an increasingly strange stench.

But it was fine. After all, their job was simply to stuff the Voidrangers into the power plant and extract their energy. They just had to hold their breath, shove them in, and let the machines do their work.

The only real problem was the lingering odor in the air—something that would require some serious cleaning.
