Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Konoha Village.Underground chamber.

Danzo Shimura sat in silence, his fingers resting on a scroll filled with information. After reading through its contents, he narrowed his eyes in thought.

"I didn't expect that boy from the Yamanaka clan to have even better aptitude than Itachi's younger brother…And he's skilled in shuriken too?"

He paused.

"Hmm… Shuriken…"

At that point, Danzo rolled the scroll up and set it aside. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, then glanced at the masked figure standing quietly before him—Mountain Wind.

"Fū," Danzo said, "I heard the kid has a good relationship with you. How much do you know about him?"

Most of the Root ninjas were raised and trained by Danzo from childhood. They had no names, no emotions—only absolute obedience.

But an organization based solely on emotionless machines couldn't thrive forever.

Mountain Wind—known as Fū in Root—was a rare exception.

"Yoruha's physical condition was naturally flawed from the beginning," Mountain Wind replied flatly."But over the past few years, he's kept up with intense physical training and daily medicinal baths using the Yamanaka clan's special formulas.""That may have reshaped his constitution. The Yamanaka clan is one of the more ancient bloodlines, after all."

His voice was neutral, emotionless. His report on Yoruha was strictly factual.

Danzo tapped his fingers against the table.

"Interesting… I've never been able to figure out what happened in that forest.""A few days ago, I even tested that sly fox Hiruzen—but he gave nothing away.""Could it really be… that those two subordinates of Orochimaru were killed by Yoruha?"

His tone turned icy.

"It's possible," Mountain Wind replied immediately. "Yoruha's hidden weapon skills are excellent—no less refined than mine."

Danzo's gaze softened slightly, and he nodded in approval.

At the end of the day, those two dead ninja were merely Orochimaru's pawns. As long as their deaths didn't involve Sarutobi Hiruzen, Danzo didn't care who eliminated them.

Truthfully, he had already looked into Yoruha extensively. This conversation was less about gathering intel on the boy…

…and more about testing Mountain Wind's loyalty.

If Mountain Wind had intentionally shielded Yoruha…

Then his allegiance to Danzo would be suspect.

Because in Danzo's eyes, the loyalty of his subordinates was far more important than the talents of any rising genius.

The next day.

Yoruha and Ino arrived at the ninja academy right on time for orientation.

After receiving their student materials, the two siblings walked into their new homeroom—the Elite Class.

"Hahaha! Yoruha from the Yamanaka clan—looks like we're classmates now!"

A loud voice echoed through the room.Uzumaki Naruto jumped up onto the desk in front of Yoruha, arms crossed and grinning with childish bravado.

"I saw your performance yesterday. Not bad!""But don't get cocky. One day, I'm going to surpass you!"

Yoruha looked at Naruto quietly, as if pondering something.

It seemed like Naruto had shifted his rivalry toward him—probably because his scores had topped Sasuke's.

But deep down, Naruto's heart still belonged to Sasuke.Yoruha had no interest in getting caught in their lover's quarrel.

"Are you done embarrassing yourself, Naruto?!" Ino snapped."You idiot! How can a bottom-of-the-barrel slacker like you even think about competing with my brother?"

She tugged Naruto back with an annoyed look.Honestly, she couldn't understand it.

How did this guy—with the worst scores—end up in the same class as them?

Naruto, fuming from being called a loser, was just about to fire back—

But Yoruha stood up with a smile.

"Ino, don't be like that. We're all classmates now, after all.""Besides, I think Naruto-kun has a unique spark. He may not look it now, but he has the right kind of spirit.""Give him time. One day, he might surprise us all…""Who knows? He could even become Hokage."
