Chapter 2: The Jet black mutt
A voice spoke in Isaac's mind, it was his own, "Would you like to 'learn' from the puppet master?" Isaac responded instantly, "Yes". Suddenly, the voice spoke again, "You can learn the racial power dark vision, the racial power orient eyes, or the racial power claws.
Isaac took a pause and thought about himself, which allowed him to think about his powers and which would be the best, and also to figure out how he could 'learn' powers like this.

Isaac thought, "Good, it works like Anix said, and it seems like James found a 'monument' and was brought back to earth." Isaac thought about his core power, quick mastery. Normally, powers with the word quick or super would refer to powers that were common, but the fact that he had a counter means that it's at least exotic or above.
Powers are put onto scales from racial to mystical. It scales as follows racial, common, uncommon, rare, exotic, lineage, and mystical. Exotic and lineage are around the same in terms of potency, but lineage has the ability to pass your powers onto your kin, and that's how the gods on earth were able to have so many people in the hero's world.
Isaac thoughts stirred as he thought of the pros and con of 'learning' a power, on one hand he could gain some sort of sight or a way to attack, but on the other hand he doesn't know if its a one time thing or if there is anything else that needs to be done in order to 'learn' a power.
As he took a few steps back, Isaac bumped into something other than the ground. It felt like a man, and suddenly he heard a voice, "Oh, sorry for that, didn't want to scare ya. My name is Soffle. I was brought here just like you, but that was years ago. There are others like us all around the lightless dunes, but our village is not too far from here." The 'man' guides Isaac's face towards a small flicker in the distance
Following the jump scare Isaac just had, he knew what to do. As Isaac spoke softly, "I would like to 'learn' dark vision." Then the voice in his mind spoke again, "In order to learn dark vision, you must look into darkness for 3 hours. You have already accomplished this, congratulations."
Isaac felt a small burn as his eyes adjusted to this new sight. He took in the world one grain at a time; that place he stood on was a dune made of coarse sand, and as Isaac turned around, his stomach dropped.
A creature down on all fours with a build like a dog, its fur is jet coloured making it blend into the dark shards that surround us, the neck is a long bony spine with eyes covering its surface, and at the tip of the neck is a sharp point stabbing into the nape of what seems to be a person. As the creature spoke, the mouth on the person spoke for it, "We should leave now before he runs out of 'meat'"
Isaac shivered as the word meat came out of the dead corpse that the Puppet Master was controlling, but Isaac knew that in order to live for even a second longer, he had to do what the Puppet Master says. Isaac spoke, "Got it, let's get going."
As they walked for a few hours, many monsters tried to attack them, but the human being controlled by the Puppet Master mercilessly killed them. During this time, Isaac asked a few questions, hoping to make the Puppet Master let its guard down. "So, Soffle, how are you able to see in the dark?" Isaac asked with a hint of curiosity. The monster replied, "Over time, you get used to it, but it can do really bad damage to the eyes, so we try not to stay in the dark for too long."
Isaac asked another question, "Why doesn't anyone try to head back home?" Suddenly, the monster chuckled, "There are no monuments to tether to, so we are forced to fight and pray that one day we can find one". Following this, Isaac fell into deep thought. Previously, he was told that all places had monuments and that it should only take a few days, if not a week, to find one.
As the pair got closer to the village, Isaac finally understood what his 'trait' 'mass produced' meant. The puppet master could see farther than him and see clearer than him. Isaac brought his stats to mind again.

"As I thought, the counter is how many powers I can 'learn', and the powers I 'learn' have a percentage of how mastered it is?
As the village came into view, the Puppet Master's main body started to salivate profusely, presumably at the thought of eating Isaac. Isaac had tried to think of of a plan to escape but couldn't come up with one, so are they were around half a mile away from the village, Isaac bolted it and ran straight for the village, the Puppet Master was very apprehensive of chasing after him, most likely the thought of all the people in the village all trying to kill it.
Isaac ran and ran and crashed into the oddly placed log walls that surround the village and he shouted, "someone help me, i was chased here by a Puppet Master" but no one opened the gate, Isaac pleaded with them telling them that he was human, but not a sound could be heard from inside, that was until Isaac told a small lie "please let me in, i can teach you how to get dark vision"
As a freezing wind blew and gate fell open and a tall, buff man walked out carrying a torch and a massive battle axe made of wind magic, the man walked closer and inspected him to make sure that he wasn't really a Puppet Master, suddenly the man dragged Isaac in and saw a small town of people looking at him some with glares and others with pity.
The tenseness was broken, then the tall man spoke, "Can you really teach us how to see past the darkness?" and for some reason, Isaac responded with, "Of course I can, the student will surpass the teacher."
