Chapter 7: Predators of the Cloud Forest
Chapter 7: Predators of the Cloud Forest
The darkness enveloped the Misty Forest like a somber cloak. The moonlight filtered weakly through the treetops, casting distorted shadows on the uneven ground. Han Feng moved cautiously, his senses sharpened by the imminent danger.
Each step was silent. Each breath was controlled.
He knew that this forest was teeming with spiritual beasts and wild Gu insects, many of which could kill him instantly if he let his guard down.
But he had no choice.
He needed rare spiritual materials to strengthen the Dual Chaos Larva.
And I knew that these resources wouldn't be in easily accessible places.
The Hunt Begins
After walking for a while, Han Feng noticed a greenish glow in the distance. Hiding behind a tree, he narrowed his eyes to examine the source of the light.
A Spiritual Vine of the Waxing Wind.
His heart raced.
This plant was extremely rare and contained enough natural energy to strengthen a Gu insect. If he could collect its leaves, he could take a big step in his cultivation.
But something was wrong.
The leaves shone brightly, and Han Feng noticed that there were deep marks in the ground around the plant.
He wasn't alone.
The Night Predator
A slithering sound echoed through the forest.
Han Feng turned instinctively, his breath caught in his throat.
Before him, a Nebulous Serpent with Scarlet Eyes rose from the shadows.
The creature's body was long and covered in grayish scales, which seemed to blend perfectly with the misty environment of the forest. Its red eyes glowed with a cruel intelligence.
Han Feng felt a shiver run down his spine.
An intermediate-level beast!
He was still not prepared to face an enemy like this.
But escaping wouldn't be easy either. The Nebulous Serpent was known for its speed and stealth. If he tried to run, the creature would probably catch him before he could take ten steps.
He needed to fight.
Or, at least, create an opening to escape.
The First Combat Strategy
Han Feng focused his mind and quickly activated his connection with the Dual Chaos Larva.
The insect inside his body reacted instantly, releasing a wave of distorted Qi into the environment.
The Nebulous Serpent hesitated for a moment, sensing the chaotic energy emanating from Han Feng.
He didn't waste any time.
With a swift movement, he grabbed a small iron dagger from his waist and leaped to the side, avoiding the serpent's first attack. The creature struck the ground with its sharp fangs, cracking the earth where he had been a second before.
Han Feng seized the opportunity and directed a pulse of Qi towards the Dual Chaos Larva.
The insect vibrated in response, and then unleashed a small wave of disruptive energy against the serpent.
The beast recoiled slightly, its movements becoming unstable. Her scarlet eyes lost focus for an instant.
That was the chance he needed.
Without hesitation, Han Feng grabbed a handful of the Crescent Wind Spiritual Vine leaves and ran in the opposite direction.
He heard the serpent let out a furious hiss, but its energy was still destabilized. This gave him enough time to escape through the forest.
Only when the sound of the creature disappeared behind him did Han Feng finally stop to catch his breath.
Her heart was still racing, but a smile appeared on her lips.
He did it.
Now, he had the necessary materials to strengthen his Gu.
And this was just the beginning.
