The King Of Fighters

Chapter 33: Chapter 33

With the planning phase complete, the team found themselves in a rare moment of reprieve. Naruto, ever the social butterfly, took the opportunity to interact with everyone on board. His natural charisma and unyielding optimism made him a magnet for camaraderie, a trait he had honed through countless battles and encounters with people from all walks of life.

Ralf, the boisterous and bold colonel, quickly found a kindred spirit in Naruto. Their conversations were lively, filled with shared war stories and jabs at each other's bravado. Ralf couldn't help but admire Naruto's confident yet humble demeanor, while Naruto appreciated Ralf's straightforward approach to life. The two hit it off with little effort, exchanging jokes and lighthearted banter as though they had been comrades for years.

Clark, on the other hand, was quieter and more reserved, much like Sasuke. But Naruto had long since mastered the art of breaking through such stoic exteriors. When he mentioned his experiences with Sasuke, Clark was intrigued. The story of their fierce rivalry and eventual mutual respect struck a chord with the taciturn soldier. While Clark didn't say much, the small smile that tugged at the corner of his lips as Naruto recounted his battles was enough to signal their growing bond.

For Naruto, seeing Sasuke alive and committed to protecting Konoha after defeating Itachi was a chapter of closure. The pain of losing comrades during the battle with Pain had lingered, and Sasuke's return was a light in the darkness. Their combined effort to defeat Orochimaru and Kabuto—Naruto using his Rasenshuriken to atomize them—had been a pivotal moment, one that solidified their brotherly bond. Sharing this story seemed to resonate with the Ikari Warriors, earning him their respect.

Mai and Vanessa were easier to connect with. Mai's cheerful and somewhat playful nature meshed well with Naruto's upbeat personality. They exchanged quips and bantered back and forth, Mai occasionally testing Naruto with her teasing, only to find that he was more than capable of matching her wit. Vanessa, meanwhile, appreciated his ability to lighten the mood while still exuding a sense of reliability. Their conversations were easygoing, peppered with moments of genuine curiosity about each other's pasts.

Leona, however, was a different story. The silent warrior carried an air of aloofness that even Naruto found challenging to penetrate. Despite his best efforts—offering friendly remarks, casual conversations, and even small gestures of camaraderie—Leona remained distant. She answered when spoken to, but her words were brief, her tone clipped.

Naruto couldn't help but feel a mixture of intrigue and determination. He recognized something in Leona's silence—a guardedness born of pain and duty. It reminded him of others he had encountered in his journey, people who had built walls around their hearts to protect themselves from the world.

Still, Naruto wasn't one to give up. He decided to give her space while continuing to interact with her in small, unobtrusive ways. Whether it was offering her a drink during a break, commenting on her combat skills during practice, or simply greeting her warmly every morning, he was determined to let her know that he valued her presence on the team.

Though Leona remained reserved, there were fleeting moments—small glances, a barely perceptible nod—that suggested she was starting to notice his efforts. Naruto knew it would take time to truly reach her, but he was nothing if not patient.

As the team prepared to execute their plan, the bonds between them were steadily growing, each interaction laying the foundation for the trust they would need in the battles ahead. For Naruto, it was a reminder of why he fought—not just for victory, but for the people by his side.

The team moved swiftly and silently, their speed rivaling that of vehicles yet leaving no trace behind—no footprints, no broken twigs, and no sound that would betray their presence. Naruto observed their flawless execution, their movements almost supernatural. It was a testament to their training and discipline. Even with his ninja background, he couldn't help but admire their precision and efficiency.

As they approached the Kunlun Mountains, the grandeur of the range came into view. Spanning over 3,000 kilometers, its snow-capped peaks stretched endlessly into the horizon. The highest points soared an imposing 7 kilometers into the sky, cloaked in snow and ice. The landscape was breathtaking, with a peaceful meadow nestled at the base, a crystalline river winding its way through the valley.

The serenity of the scene was deceptive. Beneath the tranquil exterior lay the dark secret of NEST's hidden base.

Naruto and the team pressed on, avoiding any unnecessary interaction with the locals. Whether the inhabitants of the nearby villages were oblivious to NEST's activities or complicit in their operations was a question none of them could afford to answer now. Naruto's invisibility jutsu shrouded their movements, ensuring they remained undetected as they advanced.

The entrance to NEST's base was buried deep within the mountains, carefully concealed from prying eyes. The organization's cunning use of the terrain made it nearly impossible to spot without prior knowledge. Only a fortunate encounter by one of their agents, who had been specialized in long-range reconnaissance, had exposed the entrance. Even then, the agent had barely escaped detection, a testament to the base's advanced surveillance and defense systems.

The intel the agent provided painted a grim picture:

NEST was far beyond a simple covert organization. They had developed high-level technology, including advanced cloning methods.Their leader, Nests, harbored ambitions of world domination and personal immortality. The sighting of Kyo in this region, despite reports placing him far from China at the time, was deeply suspicious. It hinted at the possibility of clones, perhaps even an entire army modeled after the strongest fighters in the world.

As they approached the base's suspected location, the tension in the group was palpable. Naruto's sharp senses picked up the faint hum of machinery beneath the ground, barely perceptible but unmistakable. The presence of concealed cameras and motion sensors was also apparent.

Ralf, ever the leader, gestured for the team to halt as they reached a concealed vantage point overlooking what seemed like an ordinary rock formation. He and Mary scanned the area for signs of the hidden entrance while Leona remained focused, her sharp eyes and instincts on high alert.

"Alright," Ralf whispered, his voice barely audible, "we're here. Naruto, Mai, you two will draw attention if needed. Clark and Vanessa, back us up if things get hairy. Leona and Mary will lead the infiltration."

Naruto nodded, glancing at Leona, who remained stoic and composed. Despite her quiet demeanor, her presence was commanding. The primal energy he'd felt from her earlier was undeniable, a ferocity waiting to be unleashed.

"Let's make this quick," Leona said, her voice low and measured. "The longer we stay out here, the more likely they'll notice."

With the plan set, the group began their approach, moving as one cohesive unit. The snow crunched faintly beneath their boots, but Naruto's jutsu ensured they remained invisible to both the naked eye and technological surveillance.

The mission had begun, and there was no turning back now.

The NEST Corporation was a façade that masked a sinister reality. Publicly, it was a benevolent multinational entity praised for its contributions to education and health. Behind the scenes, however, it was a crime syndicate with ambitions of global control.

At the helm of this duality was Nests himself, a man of mystery and menace. Born into English nobility, Nests had inherited the corporation over a century ago, transforming it into a powerful organization under his name. His longevity was a closely guarded secret, and his imposing figure—tall, muscular, with short white hair—was immortalized in portraits depicting him wielding a massive sword. Though he was often viewed as a shrewd businessman, whispers about his mastery of the blade and his ruthless leadership were well-known to those who delved deeper.

Arriving at the target location in the Kunlun Mountains, Naruto closed his eyes and placed a hand on the ground, tapping into his mastery of Earth Release. His chakra spread through the terrain, mapping the network of tunnels and the base hidden beneath the surface.

"Found it," Naruto said confidently, standing.

The team split into pairs: Naruto and Leona headed for the primary entrance, while Mai and Ryo targeted an alternate point of attack. The objective was to create chaos and confusion, forcing NEST's forces to divide their attention while Mary and the others infiltrated deeper into the base.

Naruto stood on a rocky outcrop overlooking the concealed entrance. The bitter wind whipped against him, but he barely noticed, his focus locked on the task ahead. He noted the subtle difference in texture and material of the entrance—a hidden metal gate expertly camouflaged to blend with the mountainside.

With a grin of anticipation, he muttered, "Let's go."

Leaping into action, Naruto formed a massive Rasengan, its spinning energy crackling in the cold air. He hurled it forward with precision.

BOOM!

The impact was catastrophic, obliterating the gate and tearing apart a section of the surrounding area. The blast echoed through the mountains, and alarms erupted from within the base.

Leona, standing at the ready, surveyed the destruction without a word. Her stoic expression betrayed no emotion, though Naruto sensed her approval of the efficiency.

As red lights flashed and sirens blared, Naruto formed hand seals and exhaled a thick cloud of smoke infused with his chakra. The smoke spread rapidly through the corridors of the base, obscuring visibility and short-circuiting some of the more delicate electronic systems.

"Let's move," Leona said coolly, taking point as they descended into the chaos.

Naruto followed, his sharp senses on high alert. The first wave of resistance came swiftly—guards armed with advanced weaponry, clearly unprepared for the scale of the assault.

Naruto smirked as he dispatched them with ease, his movements a blur as he weaved through their ranks, disarming and incapacitating them with non-lethal precision. Leona, meanwhile, moved with deadly efficiency, her combat prowess and precision honed to perfection. Her strikes were brutal yet calculated, every movement designed to incapacitate or eliminate her targets.

Together, they carved a path through the base, heading toward the central hub where the critical systems and data were stored.

The interior of the base was a labyrinth of corridors and reinforced doors, designed to deter invaders. But the attackers were far from ordinary.

Naruto smashed through a reinforced bulkhead with a single strike, his raw strength amplified by his chakra. "That's one way to knock," he quipped, glancing at Leona.

She gave him a quick nod, her focus unwavering. "Stay sharp. We're getting close to the control room."

As they moved deeper, the resistance intensified. Advanced security drones and cybernetic soldiers joined the fray, their technology far beyond what Naruto had encountered before. Yet, they proved no match for his combination of power and versatility.

"Fodder," Naruto muttered, dispatching a drone with a spinning kick that sent it crashing into a wall.

Leona, meanwhile, remained silent as she took out two cybernetic soldiers with a series of lightning-fast strikes, her movements graceful yet devastating.

Their goal was clear: infiltrate, gather information, and retreat. While the chaos they caused served as a distraction, it was vital to avoid unnecessary destruction until they had retrieved what they came for.

The operation was escalating rapidly, and chaos reigned within the labyrinthine corridors of the NEST base. Naruto's clones spread like wildfire, dismantling security systems and eliminating resistance. Yet, the deeper they delved, the more apparent it became that this base wasn't just a stronghold—it was a hub for NEST's sinister clone research.

As Naruto's clones tore through the facility, they encountered their eerie counterparts: clones of legendary fighters such as Kyo, Ryo, Leona, and Ryu. Though these replicas lacked the soul and finesse of their originals, their raw power and mechanical precision made them formidable opponents. Despite their strength, Naruto's clones managed to hold the line, sowing chaos and destruction throughout the base.

Naruto and Leona eventually found themselves in a cavernous chamber, the walls lined with observation platforms and high-tech equipment. It was a testing facility, one that screamed of unethical experimentation. Behind reinforced glass above them stood the base commander, a shadowy figure observing the intruders with cold disdain.

Below, the true threat emerged: six elite fighters entered the arena, each exuding a palpable aura of danger. Among them were clones of Akuma, Rugal, and Terry, their mere presence enough to make the air feel heavier. Accompanying them were two unknown but equally menacing fighters.

The odds were grim, and Leona's sharp eyes assessed the situation. Her instincts screamed that this was a trap, designed to lure strong intruders into an ambush without alerting the world outside.

"Leave this to me. I will handle it," Naruto said, his voice calm but brimming with determination.

Leona glanced at him, her emotions conflicted. Naruto's confidence was undeniable, but even she could see the peril in this fight. Six powerful enemies, any one of whom could be a challenge on their own, now stood between him and survival.

"This is suicide," she muttered, her voice barely audible.

Naruto, however, simply smiled—a mixture of reassurance and defiance. "You have a mission to complete. Go. I'll buy you all the time you need."

Leona hesitated, her instincts warring with her sense of duty. The mission was paramount; the information they sought could save millions of lives. Finally, she made her decision.

"Take care," she said softly, her voice carrying a rare note of concern.

Without another word, she turned and smashed through the door they had entered from. Two of Naruto's clones followed, providing her cover as she retreated.

As she vanished into the corridors, Naruto exhaled deeply and focused his chakra. He extended his hands, forming a swirling barrier of wind that sealed the exit, ensuring no one could pursue her.

With the path behind him secured, Naruto turned to face the six fighters. Their auras surged as they prepared to engage, each one exuding an intensity that promised a battle unlike any other.

"Well," Naruto said with a grin, his hands crackling with energy, "looks like the party's just getting started."
