Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Kendrick's POV
My team and I were very impressed with Prince Owen and he could tell. He was sitting in the SUV all smug following our mission.
"I told you, didn't?", he boasted with a sly smile. "You never would have found her without me. They had her well hidden in their pack."
"Just because we found her in their pack, doesn't mean they were hiding her", one of my warriors responded with annoyance in his voice.
I rolled my eyes at Prince Owen. He was being too cocky. However, even I had to admit that we may not have been able to find Evangeline without his help.
She had used a glamour to hide in plain sight. What appeared to be a bunch of old and dirty leaves, was in fact a tiny make shift house that she was living in.
The entire Silver Crest pack was shocked that we found her there. I ordered every ranked member to explain themselves, but no matter how hard I pushed my royal Beta aura down on them, they all roared from pain and insisted they knew nothing of this.
It didn't sit well with Asriel and I to push our aura down on a Luna, so I didn't do that. That's how one makes enemies unnecessarily. Our mates are to be treated like delicate flowers because that's what they are. They deserve protection, constant love and adoration and all the good things this world has to offer. No Alpha should have to see his Luna suffer unless it is absolutely necessary. I most certainly would not forgive anyone who hurt Esther, no matter how good their intentions were.
Alpha Derrick, the alpha of the Silver Crest pack, is a good man. He's strong, loyal and works hard to make his pack one of the strongest ones out there. I was finding it hard to believe that he would hide Evangeline, but we couldn't be sure of anything just yet.
I looked at the man and all his ranked members. None of them liked that we had to take them with us, especially considering everything that's going on with the war. But they understood why they were under investigation. We had found Evangeline on their lands. They had to explain themselves to Mathew.
"Royal Beta Kendrick", the Luna said softly. "Please tell the warriors you left behind in our pack to be mindful of the orphanage. Our pack members sometimes forget about those kids." Her long brown hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall while her dark almond shaped eyes looked at me with nervous anticipation.
"I'll be sure to do that. " I immediately took out my phone and texted the warriors I left behind in their pack. Since we had taken all the ranked members with us, we couldn't risk leaving the pack without anyone in charge. There could be an uprising, an attack or pack members could neglect their duties. Too many things could go wrong.
Alpha Derrick gritted his teeth and growled at Evangeline. "If she hadn't chosen my lands to hide on, there would be no need for all these arrangements. My poor luna doesn't deserve this. It's all her fault!" He spat at Evangeline.
He tried attacking Evangeline again, but my warriors easily stopped him in time. All the ranked members were handcuffed in silver to prevent them from mindlinking or accessing their wolves to escape. This was probably the tenth time one of the ranked members tried to attack Evangeline. They complained that she was delaying them from preparing for the war, that this would cause unrest in the pack, that the pack would doubt the Alpha's ability to keep their lands safe, but mostly it was because they believed she was causing distress to their Luna. What made them angry above all things was that the Luna also had to come with us and had to be cuffed in silver.
Asriel and I admired them all for being so protective over their Luna. Seeing it sent a striking pain in my heart as I remembered how I had failed to protect my Queen. It is one of the most important duties a ranked member has and I had failed. I tried shuffing all those negative thoughts to the back of my mind. The sooner I dealt with this, the sooner I could go help Mathew and get Elizabeth back.
Evangeline hissed at the Alpha and at us. She hadn't said a single word since we captured her. I pushed my royal Beta aura down on her so hard when we found her. I asked her how she was able to hide her witch scent. I asked her why she helped evil witches kidnap Audrey. I asked if she's working for Raphael, but she just screamed until blood spilled out of her nose and mouth.
I wasn't worried though. I hadn't used all my Beta aura on her. Not even close. I also knew that after a few torture sessions she would start singing like a canary. A few blades lodged firmly in both her thighs and hands would probably get her talking like she usually does.
She had dark rings under her eyes and looked paler than she usually does. Her dark purple eyes were much lighter, her lips were cracked and her long purple gown looked like she had worn it for a couple of days in a row. If she already looked this bad now, she would most certainly look terrible after I was done with her.
"King Mathew just wants to question you all himself", I tried reassuring Alpha Derrick. "Given the current circumstances, I'm sure you understand."
He reluctantly nodded his head while he glared at Evangeline. "I would have done the same thing if I were him." He sighed. "If we must be interrogated or tortured, I ask that my Luna please be spared. She's fragile."
I smiled at him. "I doubt it will come to that, Alpha Derrick. Your Luna will be fine."

When we arrived in Mathew's territory, I was delighted to find Esther and Ishmael waiting for me. I had mindlinked Esther the moment I was close enough to feel her tether. I missed them terribly. Every hour away from them felt like days.
I was the first one to get out of the car. I was glad we arrived in the early morning because it meant Ishmael was already awake.
He immediately ran to me while he giggled and jumped into arms. I hugged him as tightly as I could while I inhaled his innocent scent. I was the luckiest man in the world.
I started tickling him while I held him up and watched him laugh while he tried to stop me. "Daddy stop", he struggled while laughing. "Daddy stop."
His dark brown hair was bouncing up and down and his light brown skin was becoming darker while he laughed and laughed from the tickling.
I finally listened to his pleas and put him down. Esther immediately put her hands around my neck and I put mine around her waist. She dug her nose into the silver crescent moon she left on my mark spot, and I inhaled her sweet scent of vanilla and strawberries as deeply as I could. Before I knew it, I was groaning into her ear while the bulge in my pants grew.
"Easy there, tiger", she teased me. "I have a full day of fun family activities planned for us. That", she pointed downwards with her eyes, "will have to wait."
I growled lowly at her and reisted the urge to smack her behind and carry her to the Beta suite.
The warriors got Evangeline and the ranked members of the Silver Crest pack out of the car. I mindlinked them to put Evangeline in the torture cells and the others in the cells we use for lighter crimes. They'd still be hand cuffed in silver, but at least they would be a bit comfortable.
"Ouch", Esther suddenly rubbing her head.
We stopped walking and I had a look at her. "Are you okay?"
"Yea", she smiled at me. "It's just a headache. That's all."
I smiled back at her, but she started wincing from pain again.
"Let's get you to the doctor", I insisted.
"No, I'm fine. It's just..." She couldn't even finish her sentence as she winced in pain again. This time much louder.
"Ken something's wrong", she looked at her hands as if they were strange to her.
"Ahh", she screamed and fell to her knees infront of us. "Get Ishmael out of here!", she gritted her teeth and tried talking through what seemed to be a lot of pain. "Now!", she roared at me.
I mindlinked omegas to get Ishmael and take him away. "No!", he screamed while they carried him away. "I want to stay with mommy. Let me go!"
I wanted to run to him and comfort him, but I had to figure out what was wrong with Esther. "Ishmael, mommy is not feeling well right now." I managed to yell while I tried helping Esther get up. "We'll come get you soon. I promise."
The moment Ishmael was out of ear shot, a loud painful roar left Esther's mouth and her eyes started glowing. People were trying to help her, but no one knew what to do.
"Get the doctor right now!", I roared at them.
"They're already on their way", someone said nervously.
I picked her up and started running to the hospital. She couldn't stop screaming from pain. Her skin was hot and getting hotter by the second. It was becoming unbearable for me to carry her despite my healing already kicking in.
"Alexander what's wrong?", I heard someone shouting. "Someone help us. He's burning!"
I glanced at Alexander and his eyes were glowing just like Esther's. His skin was indeed burning while he thrashed around on the ground in pain. He wasn't part werewolf like Esther so his healing was taking longer to kick in and at that rate, he wouldn't make it.
"Help him", Esther whispered through her pain.
"Take him to the hospital now!", I roared while I ran with Esther in my arms. They had already started carrying him even before I made the order.
"Beta Kendrick, there's something wrong with Elder Anaia", an omega mindlinked me. "She's at the hospital, but things aren't looking good."
***
It didn't take me long to get to the hospital. Elder Anaia was already there, writhing in pain with glowing eyes just like Alexander and Esther.
I laid her down in the hospital bed while the medical staff ran around frantically trying to help the three of them. They were burning from the inside and their eyes were glowing brighter than ever.
"What the hell is wrong with them?" I roared at the doctors.
"We don't know. They're temperatures have sky rocketed and there's just no explanation for any of this. We think it's because they're seers. This is a magical issue. Not a medical one."
My dad suddenly came bursting through the doors. "Ishmael told me what happened. What's wrong with them?"
I shook my head. This was so frustrating. Nothing like this has ever happened before. I was helpless. "I don't know, dad", I growled angrily. "I don't fucking know!"
"Call their Mother of Seers", he said quickly. "She'll know what's happening to them."
I got my phone out and before I could even dial Audrey's number, my phone started ringing.
"Ken something is wrong with Audrey and the seers in my pack!", Jonathan roared through the phone. "I can't get hold of Mathew. Please, you need to help them. It's like they're burning from the inside."
I could hear the screaming and roaring in the background.
Before I could respond, dozens of messages started popping up on my phone. They were all from alphas who had seers in their packs. They were all saying the same thing. Their seers were burning and their eyes were glowing.
"We're facing the same thing here. I'll call you back Jonathan", I responded.
"Get Evangeline to the hospital right now", I roared at the warriors through mindlink.
