The Moon has Awakened

Chapter 7

Hugo noticed that Varian's breathing was unsteady and fast, he was beginning to have an anxiety attack as red rocks spiraled around his feet, Hugo kept trying to shake Varian to snap him out of this trance thing, despite the cold pain in his hands from touching him. The black from the grass underneath Varian started to spread, darkening the ground below Hugo as well. This dying grass made Hugo grow suddenly weak and he struggled to stand, but he did NOT let go of Varian, even with his hands going numb from the alchemist's icy touch. In that moment however, Hugo accidentally touched one of the red rocks and he was now becoming slowly encased by them due to his own fear, though he just met this boy, he felt very protective over him, almost drawn to him even. It was then Hugo shouted, and he finally let go of the boy, the red rocks shrinking when Varian heard the yelling. The spreading of the red rock stopped, as well as the spread of the dying ground and the black stone encasing Varian's hand vanished while his strand of blue hair stopped glowing. The red on Hugo retracted as he began to stand up again while he watched Varian collapse, his skin feeling as if he was frozen. Then, it began to storm, raining and hailing hard, making Varian even colder as he went unconscious, the thunder visually leading him to shudder in his sleep. Hugo was now suddenly afraid for the young alchemist's life as he began carrying his limp, freezing body, desperately searching for shelter in this rain as lightning struck, nearly looking the lightest blue possible. "Wait a minute.. Is this kid.. Causing this storm?!" Hugo thought. Varian hyperventilated while asleep, growing colder by the second. Hugo NEEDED to find shelter, NOW. The rain began to feel boiling hot, contrasting with Varian's cold skin, yet the rain even looked like it was crystallizing when it touched Varian. Hugo began to panic even more, not knowing if the rain or Varian was causing him pain, he felt weak again but he finally found a crystal cave in the distance and after setting Varian's body on the ground of the cavern, Hugo collapsed from the freezing numbness on his hands, the burning pain everywhere else and the weakness of Varian's power.. TO BE CONTINUED..
