The olive and wristwatch

Chapter 16: Envelope's

Mr. Swaminathan took the envelope and a moment later, after looking at it, said, 'Ohh, this is from I.I.L.'

'I know, but where are your safety measures and protocols to keep this a secret?' He replied

'What do you mean? Where did you find it, Banerjee?' Mr. Swaminathan said.

'From my daughter's paperwork, who studies in your class!'

'Oh, I see palki?, but really don't know how it got there'

'Yeah, but I assume it would be in paperwork that should have been given to those new young recruits, who are in your'

'Maybe, you are right, Banerjee. Thank you for handing me over. I'll be taking care of it.'

'Don't you understand the seriousness of the matter. We could have ended got in the hands of the police or any government agency, which could just bring those new recruits nowhere but in prison without even doing anything.'

'Don't make it a disaster, man, it's all safe now'

Mr. Banerjee gave him a hateful glance and left from there.

A night before…

Ashvini was lying in his bed, thinking of how fast Subhash learned those techniques.

That's when he remembered the envelope Mr. Shantanu gave him. He gets up and searches for it in his training bag

'There it is' he uses a ruler to open it up, and he starts reading

Dear Ashvini,

You haven't replied to the last letter, so this time I'm sending this with Mr. Shantanu. I recently received a letter from your nana

(his mom's dad), He's also in Calcutta nowadays, from some official work, he is residing next to the Lal Bazaar police headquarters.

I wrote him a letter describing your presence in Xavier's, and he'll be contacting you soon.

I know you are missing home, your hometown, being homesick

And alone in an unknown city, don't lose yourself and strengthen your mind.

Take my advice and just focus on learning for next two years.

And now you Mr. Shantanu accompanying you there in Calcutta

He didn't remember the last time he met someone from his mother's side, maybe he was four or six the last. The memories were already blurred, maybe due to childhood trauma history?

What does nana even do?, he thought.

The present day…

Ashvini opens up the door, it was one the guards who use to be with the warden,

'Warden has called you downstairs' he said

'Why, it's not even the time yet!' he looked at his pocket watch

He went down the stairs to the warden's cabin

'Come in, son, ' the warden said.

As he entered in, the guard quickly closed the doors with a sharp noise

'You see, Mr. Swaminathan sent you this,' he takes out the envelope with the I.I.L. stamp on it,

'And asked you to not share any of the things given to you here with anyone,' Warden warned him

'Now, take this and get lost'

Ashvini kept the envelope in his right pocket and went to his room.
