Chapter 7: Life or the nation ?

A tall man with a walking stick gets on the platform

"So, you all are here, one thing that's common among you all is, guidance of a teacher who led you here to us.

Let me tell you something, you are about to become a member of an independence league, which works under the national interest of independent India, you will assigned a few task every week to complete and to attain the meetings and learn different skills, we want your own betterment as a human as well as a agent of this league.

Before I state the contract, terms and conditions to you all, anyone who isn't interested can leave right now, otherwise you have to serve us till the independence, and if you leave now, there'll be no scholarship for you either."

No one dared to leave as it was a matter of future building doesn't matter what cost.

"We are the Indigenous Independence League of Hind. Our mission is to make India an independent nation where there is justice, democracy, and freedom with the rights of individuals. In the absence of racism and casteism

And for this mission, we need manpower that supports this idea and can be devoted to the purpose.

You are currently sitting in front of seven elite members of society,

And your work will be to develop your skills, be it physical, intellectual, social, and academic. Once you are all trained and refined, you will be designated to different positions to work on and for the society.

As you'll be getting instructions timely manner, and the rest of the information you can get later on.

In the present, from tomorrow onwards, you all will be having physical training sessions.

Dispersed!!!"

As he completed, five men came out of the shadows and took all of them back to the hostel with a warning, You all are under tight surveillance.

They all turned pale, puzzled, and frightened by what had just happened to them. How did they become a part of a secret society without even considering it?

It was time for morning breakfast, and they all gathered in the mess for their food. Ashvini went to the counter, and what he saw was nothing but fried potatoes and boiled eggs. The eggs smelled horrible to him, as he is a pure vegetarian and had never even encountered a situation like this. Neither were those potatoes any good in appearance.

As Ashvini sat on the table, suddenly all four boys joined him too.

"Hi, I'm Subhash Bakshi," one of them introduced himself

"Hello!, It's Ashvini."

"So, now what should we do?, We are now a part of a secret society working against the British government, which could also declare us terrorists or may impose some kind of criminal charges as an excuse to put all of us in jail. Like they did during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, or like how they are keeping other leaders who advocate for independence," said one of them with a serious voice.

It was 1936, on 11th April, Subhash Bose landed in India to attend the Lucknow Congress session and was arrested at the moment by the British government in front of a crowd of thousands.

While they've discussed all this, there was one who kept his silence and caught Ashvini's attention,

"Would you like to contribute something in here?" Ashvini asked the boy

"It's not that simple, you are all taking it lightly. Maybe you all are new and unaware of those seven men. They are already some of the elite in Calcutta. The youngest of all, who was also there in the interviewing committee, is a prince of the Malla dynasty of Bishnupur!

That oldie is a former member of the royal court of the Nizam of Hyderabad."

"How do you know that?"

"I know because I can see and fight for the independence like those who are fighting day and night for us to breathe in freedom. Bhagat was also young, but believed in doing instead of being afraid of colonial prisons and punishments. There is a cause and justice that should be served to the motherland."

"Hey Ashvini, what was his name again?" Subhash asked

"I'm Thomas Williamson!" he himself replied

You should read this. Thomas showed them a book

'The Indian struggle 1920-1942',

"This was released last year, but the government banned this in India,

But you can still find this in England."

"What is this?" Subhash asked in a skeptical tone

"This is written by Subhash Chandra Bose and published in London last year," Thomas replied.

"I'm inspired and dedicated to overthrow the government, but first I need to learn science, become a scientist, and make a living out of all, that's why I'm here. Not for being a part of the revolution, that could make my own future uncertain and maybe in prison."

Ashvini said, like he's just gonna become a Nobel Prize-winning one in the next two years

"COWARDASS, YOU FREAKING UNGRATEFUL PIECE OF COAL" Thomas rage against ashvini and left from there.

The whole mess was now staring at their table, making Ashvini question his own words.
