The Overlooked Hero Breaks the System

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: A World Not Their Own

A tense silence lingered in the grand hall as the last of the glowing status screens faded from the air.

The summoned students exchanged glances, some whispering with excitement, others shifting uneasily. The reality of their situation was beginning to settle in—they were no longer in their world, and this was no dream.

Rei stood at the back of the group, silent as ever. He wasn't surprised that no one paid attention to him. With so many students receiving B and C-ranked classes, there was no reason to focus on an Enhancement Specialist like him. His class wasn't flashy or combat-oriented like the others, and it was unlikely to attract admiration.

But none of that mattered.

His [Limit Breaker] ability remained hidden within his system, unseen by anyone—even by the ones who had summoned them. And for now, that was a good thing.

At the front, Leon Crest and Elena Vaughn, the two highest-ranked students, stood side by side. Their expressions remained calm but serious. Even Alan Vale, with his S-Class Warblade, had lost his usual cocky demeanor.

Then, King Regnar Aurelian rose from his throne.

"You are no longer children of your world," the king announced, his deep voice resonating across the chamber. "You have been summoned as champions, chosen by fate to defend this land from its greatest enemy."

The golden-haired ruler of Eryndor wore a royal blue robe lined with golden embroidery, his crown resting firmly on his brow. His presence was commanding—not just that of a king, but of a ruler who had seen war firsthand.

Beside him, a man clad in silver armor stepped forward, his expression grim. Rei recognized him as General Aldren, the commander of Eryndor's forces.

"Listen well," Aldren said, his voice heavy with authority. "This is no ordinary battle. The Demon King's forces do not fight as humans do. They consume, corrupt, and evolve. Every warrior that falls to them only adds to their numbers."

A few students flinched at his words. Some exchanged worried glances, while others clenched their fists, determination flickering in their eyes.

A girl near the middle of the group hesitantly raised her hand. "But… if the Demon King is so powerful, why summon us? Don't you have armies?"

General Aldren's sharp gaze landed on her. "We do. And they are dying."

Silence.

He continued, his voice unwavering. "For centuries, we have held back the forces of the abyss with sword, magic, and divine protection. But now, the holy barrier that shields our world is weakening. It was forged by ancient magic, a last defense against total annihilation. And soon—within five years, perhaps eight at most—it will collapse entirely."

A murmur spread through the students. Some faces paled.

The king's voice was steady but grave. "When that happens, the full force of the Demon King's armies will descend upon us. And without new champions to stand against them, we will fall."

The weight of those words settled in the air like a suffocating mist.

For the first time, some of the students truly understood.

This wasn't some adventure.

This was a war for survival.

Before anyone could fully process the gravity of the situation, the massive doors of the throne room swung open with a deep, echoing groan.

A procession of knights, robed mages, and foreign dignitaries entered the hall, their presence commanding immediate attention.

But Rei wasn't looking at the guards.

His gaze was locked on the two non-human figures walking beside them.

A hush fell over the students as realization spread.

They were not the only ones summoned.

These figures were not human.

One was an elven woman, tall and graceful, her long silver hair cascading down her back like flowing moonlight. Her emerald-green eyes glowed faintly with mana, and her ethereal beauty carried an air of both wisdom and authority. She wore an intricate gown of deep forest green, embroidered with delicate silver filigree, and a crescent-shaped crown adorned her head.

The second figure was shorter but no less imposing—a dwarf, clad in ornate battle-worn armor. His thick auburn beard was braided with golden rings, and his dark eyes gleamed beneath his heavy brow. A massive warhammer rested at his side, its ancient runes glowing faintly.

They walked with the confidence of rulers. Because they were.

King Regnar turned toward the students. "As I said before… this war is not only humanity's burden to bear."

The elven queen's green eyes swept over the group of summoned heroes, assessing them carefully. Then, she spoke, her voice smooth yet commanding.

"I am Queen Aevalis Sylvaris, ruler of the Elven Dominion of Veylanis." Her voice carried a soft melody, yet her words were edged with steel. "We, too, have summoned champions from beyond the veil of worlds. The Demon King's corruption does not discriminate—it spreads through land, magic, and blood. If it is not stopped, even the ancient forests of my people will turn to ash."

Murmurs spread through the students.

They had assumed they were the only ones summoned.

But now, they realized… other races had been doing the same.

The dwarven king stepped forward, his voice a deep rumble. "I am King Thrandrik Stonefury of the Ironhold. We've lost too many warriors to the abyss. Too many strongholds have fallen. We will not let our lands crumble without a fight."

King Regnar gestured toward the assembled rulers. "The Elves, the Dwarves, the Beastkin, and even the scattered Free Clans of the Wilds… all have summoned heroes from across the dimensions. You are not the only ones brought to this world."

The realization hit hard.

They were part of something much larger than they had thought.

Not just an army.

A world-wide summoning.

And if every race had reached the point of calling for help from beyond their own world… then the war must truly be unwinnable without them.

The weight of it all pressed down on Rei like a mountain.

They had been given five to eight years—a countdown until the full force of the Demon King's army would march.

It sounded like a long time.

But in the grand scheme of war, it was nothing.

They weren't just here to train—they were here to surpass the limits of this world itself.

And Rei had the one ability that could do just that.

But no one knew it yet.

And for now, he intended to keep it that way.
