Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Kraymira Transfer Port
North Blue, Kraymira Transfer Port
A thin morning mist, like a veil, quietly covered this most chaotic trading port in the North Blue. In the distance, the sea churned. The pier was noisy with the sounds of cargo being loaded and unloaded, vendors hawking their wares, and arguments and laughter intertwined, creating a picture of survival under a gray order.
Kraymira Transfer Port—one of the most famous gray areas in the North Blue. Nobles, wealthy merchants, smugglers, bounty hunters, black market dealers... all kinds of people converged here. Money and power flowed in the shadows, while the surface order was barely maintained by the port's "managers." Here, everyone had only one belief: whoever has more money, has the say.
An ordinary passenger ship slowly docked. Passengers disembarked one after another, blending into the noisy crowd. And just then—
"Swish!"
A tall, slender figure appeared out of thin air at the edge of the passenger ship, as if condensing from the air itself. He had slightly curly black hair, a tall and slender frame of three meters, broad shoulders and a narrow waist, his muscle definition perfect but not exaggerated. A well-tailored dark gray suit outlined his tall and straight figure, giving him a cold and elegant temperament. A pair of deep black eyes quietly scanned the pier, his expression devoid of any worldly emotion, yet it was impossible to look away.
It was Roy, out of uniform.
"Arrived," he said in a low voice, his tone low and gentle, with a hint of laziness.
As he spoke, the originally noisy port suddenly quieted down by a third. The vendors' hawking stopped abruptly, the passing noble ladies covered their mouths and gasped, and even the workers who were unloading cargo froze on the spot, not even noticing when a box fell with a "thud" on their feet.
Everyone's gaze was involuntarily drawn to this man who had suddenly appeared.
"Wh-Who is that person?!"
"So tall... and so handsome!"
"Is he a noble from some country? Or a celebrity?"
"Shh! Be quiet! What if he's someone important..."
Roy ignored the commotion around him and strode down the gangplank at a leisurely pace. His leather shoes made a steady sound on the wooden pier.
"What a hassle..." He hadn't wanted to attract too much attention, so he hadn't worn his Marine uniform, but his height and looks were too conspicuous in a place like this. But it didn't matter.
A slight smile appeared on Roy's lips. His gaze swept over the hidden corners of the port, where several greedy or wary gazes had already locked onto him. "Good... saves me the trouble of finding them one by one."
He casually walked into a bar that looked relatively clean. The moment he pushed the door open, the noise inside instantly died down. The atmosphere froze. The bartender behind the bar paused, sweat beading on his forehead, and forced a smile as he came forward. "Sir... what would you like to drink?"
Roy sat down, his long fingers tapping lightly on the bar, his tone calm and low. "I want information."
The smile on the bartender's face instantly stiffened. "I-Information?"
"Where is Gildo Tesoro?" Roy looked up, his gaze as sharp as a blade cutting through a person's heart, his tone still gentle but brooking no refusal.
The air suddenly turned cold. In a corner of the bar, a group of burly men quietly stood up, their hands on the weapons at their waists.
Without turning his head, Roy chuckled lightly. "If you don't want to die, sit down." His voice was not loud, but it was like ice breaking, piercing into everyone's bones. The men instinctively froze, alarm bells ringing in their hearts. A beast-like intuition was roaring: Dangerous! Extremely dangerous!
The men who had stood up silently sat back down, their movements stiff, cold sweat slowly dripping down the backs of their necks.
Roy looked at the trembling bartender again. "So, can you answer my question now?"
The bartender's lips were white, and he stammered, "He-he was at the 'Gold Dust Casino' yesterday... but-but this morning... he went to the northern abandoned mining area..."
"Very good," Roy nodded, took a Berry from his pocket, and casually tossed it. "Thank you." He stood up and left. The people in the bar finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Leaving the bar, Roy looked at the faint outline of the mountains in the north and narrowed his eyes. "The abandoned mining area... It seems this future 'Gold Emperor' is still picking up trash."
The next second, his figure vanished into the morning mist, as if he had never existed, leaving only the still-whispering crowd at the chaotic port and a few followers who had completely lost their target, looking around in a daze.
North Blue, Abandoned Mining Area
The scorching sun beat down on the abandoned mine, the air filled with the pungent smell of metal and the dry scent of dust. This was originally a mine jointly exploited by the royal family and a merchant guild, but it had long been abandoned by the authorities, becoming a new base for exiles and ambitious people.
Gildo Tesoro, 28 years old, was bare-chested, his blond hair messy, sweat beading on his forehead. A dark brand remained on his back—the mark of a Celestial Dragon slave, ugly and striking. He stood at the edge of the mine, tightly clutching a piece of ore that glowed with a golden-red luster, his knuckles white from the force of his grip. It was a piece of "Star Iron Ore," extremely rare, rich in metallic spirituality, and could be used for high-grade weapons and noble ornaments. It was a hot commodity on the black market.
"All of you, dig carefully!" he roared back at the dozen or so laborers at the bottom of the pit. They were in rags, their muscles thin, but they still gritted their teeth and swung their pickaxes, sweat and dust mixing into a muddy paste that slid down their faces. "This kind of ore can sell for a sky-high price on the black market! If we can just get a little more, we can buy a decent ship and get out of this damn place!"
An almost fanatical fire shone in his eyes, as if that ship were the first step on his path to the pinnacle of the world. With the star iron in his hand, he seemed to see another life: in a rainy night, his girlfriend Stella was dragged away by a Celestial Dragon, her skirt tearing in the mud; he, in a rage, had lashed out at the Celestial Dragon but was captured and taken to Mary Geoise as a slave; he knelt on the marble floor of Mary Geoise, kicked until his mouth was full of blood; he crawled in chains, becoming a slave dog who would please his master for a single gold coin. He suddenly whispered, his voice hoarse. "In this world... without money, even breathing is a sin."
"There is nothing that money can't buy. A person without money can do nothing."
"But as long as you have money..." He looked down, a sick fanaticism gradually appearing in his eyes.
Just as he was indulging in the flames of memory and desire—
"Ahem."
A light cough, like a cold wind, cut through the heat. Tesoro spun around, the hair on his body standing on end. A black-haired man, over three meters tall, was standing less than half a meter behind him, his hands in his pockets, his expression calm.
"When did he...?!" Tesoro's pupils constricted, his whole body tensing, the cold sweat on his back almost instantly soaking his waistband. His gaze swept around. His men were still digging hard in the mine, but no one had noticed the newcomer.
"You..." He subconsciously took half a step back, his voice low and wary. "Who are you? A noble? A spy? A bounty hunter?"
Roy didn't answer, but just lowered his head slightly, his gaze lightly sweeping over the star iron in Tesoro's hand. "Star Iron Ore. Good eye," he said lightly, his tone as calm as if he were evaluating a commodity.
Tesoro narrowed his eyes and warily hid the ore in his coat. "Who are you..."
Before he could finish, Roy took a step forward and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Wait, what are you do—"
"Swish!"
The two of them vanished from the spot, leaving only a group of stunned laborers and the abandoned pickaxes on the ground, reflecting the dazzling sunlight.
