The Pinnacle of the Navy! Starting from Being Captured by Garp

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: The Old Men's Way of Expressing Love

Marine Headquarters, Marineford Port

Night had just dissipated, and the first golden light fell on the warship's deck in the port. As the warship slowly docked, the soldiers who had already heard the news had gathered on the pier, their eyes full of excitement and anticipation.

"Did you hear? Those two little kids wiped out the Arlong Pirates!"

"That's the fish-man Arlong with a bounty of 20 million! He had the highest bounty in the East Blue!"

"These two are Vice Admiral Garp's grandsons and Head Instructor Zephyr's personal disciples! How could they not be strong?"

"And Rear Admiral Roy was leading them personally. With that lineup, the pirates in the East Blue should have been scared to death."

Just as the discussions were rising like a tide—

"Thump!"

The bridge cabin door opened, and three figures walked out. Roy stood at the front, his military cap pulled low, his cape fluttering in the morning breeze; Ace carried a backpack, a smile on his lips; Luffy had the jerky his grandma had prepared on his shoulder, still chewing on the last biscuit.

"WOAH!!!"

Like an exploding firecracker, the entire port erupted in a tsunami of cheers.

"Welcome back!!"

"Well done!!!"

"Ace! Luffy! You are the pride of the Marines!!!"

The soldiers raised their fists. The young cadets were so excited they even shed tears. The scene was so lively that even the war reports from the New World couldn't steal the spotlight.

Luffy was taken aback for a moment, then he immediately stood with his hands on his hips and laughed wildly. "Hehehe! I'm very strong! I beat a very strong fish-man, and an octopus with eight arms!"

Ace, on the other hand, lowered his head slightly and scratched his head, trying to keep a low profile, but the smile that he couldn't suppress had already revealed his pride.

Suddenly—

"WAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

A laugh that seemed to shake the heavens came from deep within the crowd. "Wahahaha! My grandsons can actually wipe out a pirate crew! I'm so happy!"

Boom! Garp became a sonic boom as he charged out from the crowd. His nearly seventy-year-old body shot towards the three like a cannonball.

"LU—FFY—!!"

"Grandpa? Wait!"

Before Luffy could react, he had already been picked up by Garp.

"BANG! BANG! BANG!"

Garp's iron fists rained down on Luffy's head without mercy, each punch carrying the power of love, instantly creating three large bumps on Luffy's head.

"Oww, oww, oww! Grandpa! Why are you still hitting me after I beat the pirates!" Luffy's tears were streaming down his face.

Garp laughed heartily and ruffled his hair again. "Because I'm so happy! Hahaha!"

Ace was laughing so hard he was bent over. "Hahaha, Luffy, you're so pitiful!"

"Well, you're having a good laugh, aren't you, kid?" Suddenly, he felt a chill down his spine. A giant shadow loomed over him, and a low, steady voice suddenly sounded from behind him.

"...Oh no." Ace's back stiffened. He stiffly turned his head and, sure enough, saw Zephyr standing behind him, a slight smile on his lips behind his sunglasses. Zephyr smiled slightly, his voice as gentle as a spring breeze. "Kid, how many days have you been without training?"

Ace's face instantly changed. "Instructor Zephyr, I... we just finished a mission, we-we haven't had a chance yet..."

Zephyr suddenly reached out. Ace was about to turn into his element to escape but was caught on the shoulder by a giant, Armament-coated palm. "You still want to run?"

"W-Wait... Instructor, I was wrong!!!" The flames on Ace's body had just begun to surge but were suppressed by Zephyr's Armament-wrapped giant palm, the flames extinguished with a "hiss." Ace struggled desperately but was picked up like a cat.

"Let's go, to the training ground. I'll personally practice with you~"

"Help me, ahhhhhh—!! Big Bro Roy! Save me!!" Ace was dragged away, screaming all the way, causing the soldiers to burst into laughter.

"Your Big Bro Roy doesn't dare to save you either..." Roy stood at the bottom of the gangplank, watching one get beaten up by Garp as an expression of love, and the other get carried away like a kitten by Zephyr. He could only cover his forehead and smile wryly at the two old men's "special way" of expressing their happiness. "Is this the way of the Marine legends to express 'love'?"

Marineford, Fleet Admiral Sengoku's Office

The sun shone through the large French windows, illuminating the desk, which was piled high with documents, in a golden glow. Sengoku sat at his desk, his brow furrowed, the secret report from the New World in his hand making his expression even graver.

"Knock, knock, knock."

He answered without looking up, "Come in."

The door opened, and Roy strode in, wearing his white Justice cape, his expression as usual. He placed a report steadily on the desk. "Sartsuroso Kingdom, investigation complete," Roy said concisely. "No abnormalities found."

Sengoku looked up, his eyes slightly narrowed. "Is Red-Haired Shanks really just passing by?"

"At least on the surface," Roy answered as calmly as water. "They followed the rules, purchased supplies, and left port after three days of rest. There were no conflicts or unusual activities."

"Tsk," Sengoku's brow tightened, his tone laced with suspicion. "A great pirate from the New World with a bounty of over a billion loses an arm in the East Blue, but leaves after a quiet resupply? Isn't that a little too well-behaved?" He looked down and pulled out another pirate movement record, his gaze darkening slightly. "What do you think is the truth about his arm?"

Roy shrugged. "Not enough information to judge."

Sengoku's fingers tapped the desk a few times, and he looked at him deeply. He finally sighed and leaned back in his chair, his expression slightly weary. "You're right. We really don't have much energy to investigate these truths right now." He pushed the files aside, revealing a New World sea chart that had been pressed at the bottom. The map was marked with red circles around three rapidly expanding forces—Kaido's pirate crew (at this time, they had just started cooperating with Doflamingo, and there were not many artificial fruits, so they had not yet become the complete "Beast Pirates"), the Big Mom Pirates, and the Whitebeard Pirates.

"The situation in the New World is getting worse," Sengoku's tone was low, as if there were an invisible heavy pressure on his back. "The major pirate crews are fighting for territory, and there's also the Golden Lion hiding somewhere, almost pushing the front lines to their breaking point. Our forces and defensive lines are a bit strained."

Roy looked down at the map. Those familiar yet dangerous names made his gaze instantly sharp. "Fleet Admiral, are you saying you want me to go to the New World?"

Sengoku did not deny it, his tone serious. "Your mobility and combat power are already at the top level of the current Headquarters' combat forces."

"We need you, as a flexible and mobile main force, to support the front lines. Even just as a deterrent, it would be of great value."

Roy smiled, a long-lost excitement in his eyes. "A contest with the strongest monsters in the world? I was just thinking of testing my current strength."

Seeing the fighting spirit in his eyes, a corner of Sengoku's eye actually twitched slightly. "You brat, don't treat this support mission as an invitation to a one-on-one duel with a great pirate."

"I'll have a sense of proportion," Roy smiled lightly.

Sengoku suddenly remembered something and added, "By the way, some time ago, Doflamingo was recognized by the World Government and became one of the Shichibukai."

Hearing this, Roy's gaze sharpened slightly. "This is a reminder that I've had a conflict with him before..." He looked at Sengoku, his tone calm but with a hint of sharpness. "If he does something that endangers an entire kingdom, can his status as a Shichibukai protect him?"

Sengoku was taken aback, not expecting Roy to suddenly ask such a question. He stared at Roy's serious expression, and although he was puzzled, he still answered decisively, "If there is real evidence, I will allow you to annihilate him."

Roy smiled, a hint of coldness in his smile. "That's good."

Sengoku looked at him deeply and didn't ask any more questions. Just as they were talking, a strong wave of Haki suddenly came from the direction of the training ground.

"BOOM!"

The entire office building seemed to be slightly lifted. The window frames creaked, and a few files were shaken from the top of the bookshelf.

Sengoku frowned. "That guy Zephyr, why is his training causing such a big commotion? Is he trying to tear down the training ground?!"

Roy closed his eyes slightly, his Observation Haki instantly expanding. After a moment, he opened his eyes, a smile on his face. "Ace actually used that move..."

"It should be Ace. I'll go take a look."

Sengoku nodded. "Go on. I'll arrange the transfer order for the New World as soon as possible."

"Swish!"

Roy turned around, and his back had already disappeared from the doorway.
