The Regression Of Jiraiya

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Self promises

Medical ninjutsu during this era was a far cry from the sophisticated practice it would evolve into in the future.

It was still in its nascent stages, with many techniques and procedures undergoing constant refinement and development.

The understanding of human anatomy and physiology was not as comprehensive as it would later become, and the tools and equipment at the disposal of medical ninja were significantly more primitive.

Despite these limitations, medical ninja of this time were still capable of accomplishing remarkable feats of healing.

They could effectively treat a wide array of injuries and illnesses, utilizing a combination of chakra manipulation, herbal remedies, and surgical techniques.

They were also adept in the use of poisons and antidotes, and could even perform rudimentary forms of surgery.

However, all their skills and knowledge proved insufficient in curing Hashirama's illness.

Jiraiya, learning of Hashirama's illness through Tsunade, discovered that she had developed a cure at the time.

Tsunade, burdened by the loss of everyone she held dear, had given up on herself and fled the village, descending into a life of drunkenness and gambling.

In her despair, she expressed the futility of the cure, stating,

"What is the point of this cure when the one I want to survive is long gone... but maybe it will be useful to someone."

Jiraiya, despite being a skilled and experienced ninja, had limitations in his understanding of the profound complexities of medical ninjutsu during his previous life.

However, his rebirth had granted him an unexplainable monstrous talent with a deeper comprehension.

The memories of his past life remained vivid, and the pain he felt witnessing Tsunade's despair and suffering in that timeline still haunted him.

The image of the young Tsunade, diligently fighting sleep as Mito imparted the knowledge required for Fuinjutsu made him reinforce himself of what had to be done.

"I won't allow you to experience that despair again in this life," Jiraiya vowed silently, his gaze fixed on the young girl who would soon become the woman he loved the most of his life. "I will protect everything that is precious to you, even if it costs me my life."

Unbeknownst to him, Jiraiya held a significant place in Tsunade's heart. Though she never openly expressed her feelings, her devastation upon hearing the news of his death in their previous life would have revealed the depth of her attachment to him.

Had he witnessed the extent of her grief, Jiraiya would have realized the profound impact he had on her life and the importance he held in her world.

Jiraiya contemplated the task before him - healing Hashirama. The path to a cure was very challenging, demanding nothing short of mastery over his chakra control.

The sheer precision required was intimidating, even surpassing the intricate demands of Fuinjutsu, the art of sealing.

Yet, Jiraiya was not one to back down from a challenge. In fact, he had always had a goal to achieve perfect chakra control.

"Let's do it. I still have about two or three years before he will succumb to his illness."

Jiraiya's days were a whirlwind of disciplined training, pushing his body and mind to their limits.

Every morning, the rising sun would find him already immersed in the practice of taijutsu of both Senju and Uchiha, honing his physical prowess and reflexes through rigorous forms and sparring sessions with Hashirama.

As the sun climbed higher in the sky, he would transition to the intricate art of Fuinjutsu, spending countless hours meticulously studying seals and practicing their formation under the watchful eyes of Uzumaki Mito.

The afternoon would see him delve into the healing arts, dedicating his time to mastering medical ninjutsu.

He would pour over ancient texts, practice chakra control exercises.

As twilight descended and the stars began to twinkle, Jiraiya's focus would shift to the broader spectrum of ninjutsu.

He would practice throwing techniques, illusionary arts, and elemental manipulation, pushing himself to master a wide array of skills. Tobirama would appear from time to time to teach him.

He gave up on wanting him as his disciple.

His rigorous schedule left little time for rest, with only a few precious hours allocated for sleep each night.

But Jiraiya was driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a deep sense of responsibility.

He knew that to protect those he cared about and fulfill his self promises, he had to push himself harder than anyone else.
