Chapter 504: Chapter 504: The Second Time the Silvermoon Elf Was Tricked
"Fallen asleep? That's really unfortunate." The silver-haired elf looked at the silent, but slowly and inexorably strengthening crystal egg before her, a look of relief crossing her face.
"Tell your master that I personally came to invite him, but he was asleep and missed it," said Hessel, the Silvermoon Elf from the Eternal Island, smiling gracefully at the dragonborn maid standing by her side.
"Rest assured, when the young master awakens, I will convey your message of your personal invitation," Mia said gently, looking at the unexpected guest who claimed to want to invite Murphy to her birthday party. Though Mia didn't know this Silvermoon Elf, the fact that she was transported here by Linka Cio meant she indeed had a significant connection with the young master.
"I've kept my promise, but Murphy has failed to keep his." The Silvermoon Elf sighed softly.
"His Highness is currently advancing to a legendary rank and cannot wake up. Breaking the promise was unavoidable."
"Advancing to a legendary rank?" Hessel was momentarily stunned, then examined the giant egg that Murphy had transformed into more closely. "I recall Murphy isn't even a hundred years old yet."
"The young master won't be a hundred for another twenty-eight years," Mia said with barely concealed pride. A powerful master naturally reflected well on his servants.
"How is it possible... so quickly?" Hessel, who hadn't seen Murphy in a long time, felt a sense of absurdity and unreality. For a long-lived race, breaking through to legendary status in such a short time was incredible. Even among humans, only a few had achieved such a feat in such a short period.
"His Highness has his opportunities, and the young master has never slacked off in his training," Mia explained with a smile.
"Is that so?" Hessel, who was on the cusp of adulthood but still at the peak of the third tier of soul intent, felt a bit embarrassed. Compared to Murphy's diligence, she had been almost stagnant for years. "Even a hybrid Titan works so hard?"
The Silvermoon Elf Hessel was perplexed. She couldn't understand the Titan way of life, spending such a long life entirely on battle and training. For a long-lived race, wasn't life meant to be enjoyed? Power should only be enough for self-protection. Why pursue it so excessively?
Her confusion stemmed from the fundamentally different worldviews and habits of elves and Titans. Their ability to coexist on the same islands was largely due to the orderly nature of the elves and the presence of the World Tree.
"Murphy fell asleep just days before my birthday party. Such unexpected events are unavoidable." After another sigh, the Silvermoon Elf bid farewell to Mia, preparing to leave. "Can you contact Linka Cio to teleport me back to the Titan Islands?"
"Um, Miss Hessel, are you misunderstanding something? The young master's spirit does not have the ability to teleport people back to the Titan Islands." Mia felt a bad premonition as she looked at the Silvermoon Elf before her.
"Huh?" The inexperienced Silvermoon Elf looked bewildered, her expression naive. After a dozen seconds, she stammered, "You mean... I can't return to the Eternal Island?"
"If you're only relying on Linka Cio and have no other means of teleportation, then you cannot return."
"I..." The silver-haired elf opened her mouth, then realized, "Those elders tricked me? This is too much. What about my birthday party?"
Mia watched the flustered Hessel and couldn't help but feel a tug of sympathy. This elf, deceived by her elders, inexperienced and untested by the world, was facing the harsh reality of her situation.
"If you don't mind, you can stay here," Mia said after a few moments of thought, unable to send the elf away into the vast sea alone. It would be tantamount to murder.
"No, I don't want to." Hearing Mia's invitation, the Silvermoon Elf hastily shook her head, recalling some elders' instructions. "I don't want to bear Murphy's children."
"I think you're overthinking it, Miss Hessel," Mia said, struggling to maintain a polite smile, resisting the urge to smack the fanciful elf. Bear children? What a joke. Even if there was a queue, this Silvermoon Elf wouldn't be at the front. Was being an elf royal really that impressive?
Ultimately, having realized she was deceived a second time, Hessel had no choice but to stay. As for her birthday party, Mia used her authority to have cloud giants organize a grand coming-of-age ceremony for her on the cloud island.
Time passed, and the crystal egg Murphy had transformed into grew larger and emitted an increasingly overwhelming aura, suffocating any creatures that came close.
Without Murphy's directives, neither Mia, Fiona, nor the red dragon Cynthia had the authority to decide the cloud island's course. Thus, the hundred-plus cloud islands eventually stayed motionless near the coast of the Senaps continent.
The long-term stay of the cloud island naturally attracted the attention of powerful marine forces. However, upon learning who owned the island, they either stayed far away or approached to negotiate for benefits, keeping their greed and hostility in check.
Well-informed major powers had no plans to attack and seize the cloud islands. The consecutive fall of deities had terrified them. Deities, the most noble beings in Erathia, were killed for provoking a Titan's descendant, resulting in their demise.
Of course, some were unaware or didn't know Murphy's involvement in the deities' downfall. These ignorant beings harbored dark thoughts of seizing the cloud islands for themselves. Such external threats were within the three rulers' ability to handle, as these uninformed forces could not be too powerful.
"Crack!" Time flowed on. Twenty-four years after Murphy fell into a deep sleep, the ever-growing and increasingly intimidating elemental crystal egg finally began to crack. This time, Murphy's slumber was extraordinarily long.
