Chapter 23: Chapter 21: The One Who Mirrors
It started with a nosebleed.
Second-year Ravenclaw.Quiet. Studious. Always early to class.Name: Elias Greythorne.
He collapsed during Charms. Blood from the nose, eyes… and a single word spoken as he fell:
"Vale."
The Pattern Emerges
Harry read the report the next day. Snape had confiscated it from the infirmary logs and dropped it on Harry's desk without a word.
Theo squinted at the name.
"Elias Greythorne?"
"I've seen him," Harry said. "But we've never spoken."
Draco frowned. "Then how the hell does he know Selene's name?"
Theo flipped the report over.
The nurse had drawn something on the back. A tracing of the lines that formed across Elias's skin.
It was a mark.
Not Harry's.
But similar — mirror-flipped, incomplete.
Harry felt a wave of nausea.
"It's starting again."
A Visit to Elias
Madam Pomfrey allowed five minutes.
Elias was unconscious.
But his lips moved as they stood over him. No sound. Just movement.
Harry leaned close.
And heard — inside his head — a voice that was not Elias's.
"Second gate… chosen.Broken, but not yet bound."
"The Heir will be betrayed. And the mirror will show nothing but loss."
Elias gasped — and then went still.
Not dead.
Just asleep.
Theories in the Dungeons
Back in the common room, Theo threw chalk at the wall.
"This is like an infection."
"No," Harry said slowly. "It's like resonance."
Draco nodded. "Like a tuning fork. I set off the first frequency. Iris echoed it. Now Elias…"
"Is vibrating in the same magical range," Theo finished. "But why him?"
They didn't have the answer yet.
But in the journal — the black book — a new phrase had appeared.
"The mirror remembers."
Final Scene – A Girl Watches From the Shadows
In the library, a Gryffindor girl with red hair watched them go.
She wasn't reading.
She was listening.
And when they passed, she pulled her sleeve down over her wrist.
Where a soft outline had begun to form — a shape like a lock, not yet open.
Her eyes weren't glowing.
But they would be soon.
