The Serpent’s Heir

Chapter 27: Chapter 25: The Memory That Wasn’t His

It began the moment his eyes closed.

No drifting.No whispers.

He was pulled.

The Past Wearing His Skin

He stood in a stone chamber — unfamiliar, silent, but alive with heat. The walls pulsed with red light.

And he wasn't himself.

He looked down — hands older, steadier, scarred.

His voice wasn't his either.

"We're out of time."

Across from him: Selene. Younger, angry, afraid.

"You can't control it, Kael."

"I don't want to control it," he replied. "I want to end it."

She reached for him, but he stepped back.

"You still think it can be reasoned with."

"It's memory, Kaelen. It's not evil."

"And memory," he snapped, "has teeth."

The Sealing

Behind them stood a massive stone door — the first door, larger than Hogwarts' Great Hall, carved with runes that hadn't been taught in centuries.

Kaelen placed his hand against it.

The mark on his skin — red, wild — ignited.

The door responded. Not opening… but hungering.

Selene shouted, "Don't give it your name!"

Too late.

He whispered:

"Kaelen Vale. Son of the Flame. Last of the Fifth House.I offer myself."

The stone screamed.

Harry Wakes — Not Alone

He jolted up, heart hammering, lungs burning.

Draco shot awake beside him. "You okay?"

But Harry couldn't answer.

Because for one, brief moment — he wasn't alone in his mind.

Kaelen's memory was still echoing.

And his rage still burned in Harry's chest.

Final Scene – A Line Drawn in Fire

On the wall of the dorm, the black book appeared again — this time as a vision only Harry could see.

Its pages flipped by themselves.

One final line appeared:

"You cannot carry both names forever."

"To inherit one… you must kill the other."

Harry stared.

Because now, the story had changed.

It wasn't about saving Selene.

It was about choosing between them.

And only one memory could survive.
