Chapter 152: Interstellar Thief (Part 2)
"Sister Butterfly, lean on me." Xu Mo whispered into Ye Qingdie's ear. Ye Qingdie's cheeks were flushed, her whole body burning, bashfully silent, yet still obediently followed, placing her hands against the window. Her graceful curves were mesmerizing.
Outside in the starry sky, a meteor seemed to streak by, beautiful and splendid, the endless cosmos seemingly operating by its own distinct rules.
In the battleship's bedroom, humans too lived and propagated by human rules, a romance belonging to humanity.
......
Camp Star, President's Mansion, an emergency meeting was underway.
According to surveillance, the Mandala Star Fleet appeared in this Star Domain, and at their discretion, they could attack Camp Star at any time.
This gave Camp Star a tremendous sense of threat. If the Mandala Star Fleet attacked, what could they use to resist?
"What does the Star System Alliance say?" The Camp Star President asked.
"The Star System Alliance states that they are closely monitoring the movements in this Star Domain. If the Mandala Star Fleet arrives, the Alliance Army will arrive at the fastest speed, encircle this Star Domain, and launch a campaign against the Mandala Star Fleet." Someone responded, and this statement reassured those present somewhat, though they remained apprehensive, as their fear of Mandala Star had already been etched in their bones.
They had nearly conquered a hundred planets, and now many planets did not resist the invasion of Mandala Star, surrendering directly.
They wondered, if one day the Mandala Star Fleet invaded Camp Star, would they fight or surrender?
"Mr. President, hypothetically, I mean if we were invaded by the Mandala Star Fleet, what choice should we make?" an official asked, a question that everyone was concerned about.
For a moment, all eyes turned toward the President of Camp Star.
Fight or surrender?
This was a difficult decision.
"We're not there yet." The Camp Star President spoke, unsure whether they could wait for support from the Star System Alliance if they chose to fight.
If not, they faced total destruction, their fleet would be wiped out.
If they surrendered, everything would be taken by Mandala Star, resources plundered, and military stripped away, leaving them an empty shell, a tool for Mandala Star, who wouldn't care about their fate, potentially turning them into cannon fodder in future interstellar wars.
This situation would be a nightmare for them, as any choice would come at a heavy price.
Therefore, the Camp Star President didn't even want to think about this question; if that moment truly came, what would he choose?
"Bang..."
Just then, someone burst into the meeting room.
"What are you doing?" someone scolded, their tone cold.
"Mandala Star Warship sighted." The person gasped, face pale. In an instant, the meeting room fell silent, and the Minister of Defense stood, looking at him and asked, "Where?"
"Just outside Camp Star, attacking and destroying our probes." The person replied.
The faces in the meeting room changed, some even showing panic.
Had the Mandala Star Fleet really reached their doorstep?
This made them feel despair, questioning whether their surveillance of space alongside the Star System Alliance was truly adequate.
"How many warships are coming?" the President asked, his voice slightly trembling.
"Currently, only one warship has been detected, the main assault ship of Mandala Star, the Sword." The response brought a look of surprise to everyone's face, but their hearts remained uneasy. Only one ship?
This seemed quite eerie.
"Let's go." The group got up to leave; they needed confirmation.
If there was only one warship, Mandala Star underestimated the power of Camp Star. A single warship attacking Camp Star?
Although they lost a few warships before, they still had a formidable fleet of twelve warships now.
If Mandala Star had only one warship, they were confident they could destroy it.
Above Camp Star, the Sword was launching missiles, destroying probe after probe. Along the way, they encountered many probes monitoring space movements, likely a strategic arrangement by the Star System Alliance.
However, these probes were meaningless to them; along the way, they moved slowly, but precisely avoided all probes, arriving silently above Camp Star.
"Mr. Wood, have you ever attacked a main planet before?" Xu Mo asked Wood.
"No." Wood shook his head. "The Black God Fleet's power is strong, but not arrogant enough to attack a main planet; one is a matter of strength, the other is not daring to provoke the Star System Alliance into a massive crusade."
Even interstellar thieves operated by their own rules, maintaining contacts with many planets; otherwise, how could Camp Star have contacted them earlier to deal with Byron Star?
If they broke the rules, and the Star System Alliance utilized all its strength against them, the Black God Fleet would have no place.
"So this is Mr. Wood's first time." Xu Mo said.
"Yes." Wood was also a bit excited, his dark eyes fixated on the planet in front of him. Every ambitious thief dreamed of becoming a planet hunter, a legendary super thief that planets feared.
He had heard that in the former Empire era, some top interstellar thieves even dared to challenge advanced civilizations, roaming the starry sky with impunity.
For Wood, that was legend.
"Camp Star hasn't reacted yet, give them a shot." Xu Mo suggested.
"Yes." Wood nodded, instructing, "Prepare Vortex Laser Cannon."
Upon command, a terrifying energy emerged from the battleship.
Soon, a dazzling blue beam shot forth from the starry sky, heading straight for the planet.
On Camp Star, countless people looked up to the sky, a laser bores through at frightening speed; on the ground, beams of light were released upward, intercepting it.
A terrifying Energy Storm erupted, intercepting the laser cannon.
"Buzz..." A shrill alarm rang out, Camp Star plunged into chaos; warships soared into the air, Camp Star's fleet was mobilized.
This time, Camp Star deployed six warships; so far, they had only detected one Sword battleship.
Six warships took off, weapon systems locked on the main ship. In the Sword's command room, Xu Mo ordered, "Retreat."
Upon the word, the battleship ascended to higher altitudes.
"Is the Mandala Star warship retreating, shall we pursue?" A voice came from the Camp Star command room.
"Have any other warships appeared on the radar?"
"No, currently only Mandala Star's main assault ship is visible."
"Do not pursue too far, just expel them from Camp Star's vicinity, we will continue real-time space monitoring."
"Understood."
The conversation ended, warships launched, even though Mandala Star sent only one warship, they lacked the courage to chase and destroy it, adopting an extremely conservative strategy, merely driving it away from Camp Star's perimeter.
They feared a trap, wary of an ambush by Mandala Star.
In the warship's command room, the Commander's gaze was icy, an ambush?
If the Mandala Star army was truly pressing on them, they wouldn't need such tricks; a strong assault would suffice. This didn't align with Mandala Star's strategy, unless they were feinting, luring the Star System Alliance while their real target was elsewhere.
In space outside Camp Star, Xu Mo and Wood stood in the command room, watching the screen, observing six warships launching into space.
"They request communication."
"Decline." Xu Mo curtly replied.
Communication?
His gaze was cold; this battle, he would make Camp Star pay for everything they had done in the past.
