Chapter 8: The New Absolute
As the dust settled across the shattered wasteland, silence fell like a divine decree.
Guy Crimson—the strongest Demon Lord, the Monarch of Calamity himself—was lying bruised and beaten in a crater, struggling to comprehend the defeat he'd just suffered. The world had watched through Saiki's magical projections—nations, monsters, humans, dragons, and Demon Lords alike—all witnessed the impossible.
High above the ground, Veldora floated in his human form, his golden eyes glowing like twin stars. His cloak billowed in the windless air, lightning still dancing across his body, a residual aftershock of the overwhelming power he'd displayed.
He turned his head slowly, his piercing gaze scanning the gathered Demon Lords and True Dragons. No one dared to speak. Not even Milim, who earlier was bouncing with excitement, fists clenched, ready to join the fray. Now, her eyes were wide with awe, a single bead of sweat trailing down her cheek.
Even she… wasn't that reckless.
Leon Cromwell clenched his jaw. Luminous narrowed her eyes, processing every detail. Velgrynd and Velzard stood frozen, confusion mixing with something they'd never associated with their little brother before: fear.
Veldora hovered for a moment longer, then crossed his arms and smirked.
"So," he said, his voice deep, regal, and amplified through Saiki's reality-bending modifications. "Who's next?"
His voice rolled like thunder.
No one stepped forward.
Milim, for once, backed off, muttering, "T-this isn't the same Veldora I remember…"
Carrion gulped. Frey looked away. Clayman, hiding behind the others, shook like a leaf. Dino, who was always sleepy and carefree, actually stood up straight, eyes sharp for the first time in years.
Veldora let his smirk linger a little longer, savoring their silence. Then, his gaze sharpened as he spoke again:
"Listen all, and listen well…"
The pressure in the air increased. Winds that weren't there began howling across the land. The skies turned a shade darker.
"From this moment forward… any who dares step foot in the Jura Forest without permission—will pay with their life."
His words echoed across the Cardinal World like a divine edict.
Spies from various kingdoms who had been watching from afar turned pale. One of them, hidden in the trees near Draguel's territory, muttered as he recorded, "T-this changes everything..."
Rudra stared in disbelief. "Well, things just got complicated."
Velgrynd hissed, "He was never this strong... how?!"
Velzard's hands clenched. "That idiot... how did he get this strong?"
Even Guy, still groaning from the dirt, managed a smirk. "Heh... not bad, Veldora. Not bad at all…"
Back in the various cities and towns, citizens stood frozen in front of massive viewing crystals. Some were too afraid to breathe. Children clung to their parents. Kings and generals whispered to their advisors.
"A new tyrant?"
"No... a god."
"A new absolute power."
Just as the weight of his declaration settled into the hearts of the world's greatest powers—
Veldora vanished.
No flash. No sound. No trace. One moment, he was there. The next, it was like he never existed.
"W-what?" Milim blinked. "Where'd he go?!"
Luminous frowned, her fingers twitching. "I didn't even sense spatial magic…"
Leon shook his head. "That wasn't teleportation. That was something… else."
They all looked at one another, unspoken thoughts racing.
What… the hell was that?
And deep in the Jura Forest, inside a small wooden cabin, Saiki Kusuo sat on a chair, sipping on a cup of coffee jelly. He opened one eye, watching the world react to the chaos he'd orchestrated.
"Yare yare… now, maybe they'll leave me alone."
He smirked faintly, pulled the spoon from his mouth, and looked up at the sky.
Seconds after his terrifying declaration and sudden vanishing act, Veldora reappeared inside the small wooden cabin deep within the Jura Forest.
FWOOOM!
A small gust of wind shook the nearby trees as his form stabilized, golden hair shimmering and eyes still sparking with residual energy. His feet hit the floor with a heavy thud.
Saiki was calmly seated on his favorite cushion, mid-bite, a bowl of coffee jelly in hand. The spoon hovered near his mouth as he gave Veldora a quick side glance.
"…You're late," Saiki said flatly.
"OH MY GOOOOD!!!" Veldora's voice echoed through the cabin like a rolling thunderstorm. "That was INSAAAANE!! Did you see me out there?! I mean—you did—obviously you did! But still—WOW!!"
Veldora threw himself onto the couch dramatically, arms flailing like a child who just came back from a school talent show.
"I FELT everything! I SAW everything! It was like… like being in a movie theater inside my own body while someone else controlled the remote!"
"You're welcome," Saiki muttered, scooping another bite of jelly.
Veldora sat up quickly, golden eyes wide with excitement. "Dude! That one move—you know, the punch you used with the shockwave delay before it hit Guy in the chest? Legendary! I didn't even know my arm could move like that!"
"That was from an anime I read," Saiki replied, lazily waving his hand. "'Shockwave Vector Strike.' Something cool I saw once."
Veldora gasped. "IT HAD A NAME?!"
"…No," Saiki blinked. "I just made that up."
Veldora didn't care. He hopped off the couch and began reenacting the punch, nearly knocking over a lamp. "And the timing! The way you made the wind stop, the aura, the lightning, the portal—bro, I was like an actual god out there!"
"You're welcome," Saiki repeated.
Meanwhile… around the world:
In the capital of Blumund, noble families huddled around projection screens. One councilman whispered, "We… we need to reevaluate our political alliances. Immediately."
In Dwargon, King Gazel stood with his generals, eyes narrowed. "We cannot afford conflict with the Jura Forest. Issue the decree: Veldora is not to be disturbed."
In Sarion, Emperor Elmesia muttered into her wine glass, "That's the same Veldora who wrecked half of our forests centuries ago? Why is he now ten times scarier?"
In Ruberios, Luminous sat in a silent cathedral. The stained glass above her reflected her narrowed eyes. "This can't be the same dragon… there's something else—someone else."
Back in the Demon Lords' camp, Milim hugged her knees. "Okay, okay… maybe I won't fight him. For now. B-but next time… I'll bring snacks and we can be friends!"
Leon crossed his arms, frowning. "This changes everything."
Velgrynd, who rarely ever panicked, turned to Rudra. "That wasn't just Veldora out there. I could feel something else… something invisible."
Rudra smiled faintly. "Yeah… and I want to know what it is."
Back in the cabin…
"…and THEN!" Veldora kept ranting, now pacing in front of the fireplace. "Did you see how Velzard flinched? My sister! THE Velzard! She actually looked nervous! I think this finally makes me the favorite sibling!"
"Doubt it," Saiki muttered.
"You heard them, right?! No one's gonna step foot in the Jura Forest anymore! We're the kings of the forest! Rulers of peace! Legends of—"
"Silence," Saiki said, finally looking up.
Veldora stopped mid-victory dance.
"I didn't do all this for you to brag and break the table doing karate moves. The plan worked. Now… we relax."
Veldora grinned, scratching his head. "Yare yare… You're so serious sometimes, Saiki."
"That's my line."
Just outside the cabin, the wind rustled the trees gently. Every monster, beast, and creature in the forest stayed far, far away. The land itself had become sacred. Untouchable.
A squirrel who once lived near the cabin had long since packed up its tiny nest and migrated two valleys over. Even the birds avoided the airspace directly above.
Saiki leaned back, closing his eyes. The world was now watching. Observing.
But none dared to interfere.
"Maybe now… I can finally enjoy my peace," he whispered.
Then he opened one eye, looked at his nearly empty jelly bowl…
…and sighed.
"Except I'm out of coffee jelly."
