The Silent Deity: Saiki Kusuo in Tensura

Chapter 9: Coffee Jelly and Goblin Troubles

The days passed peacefully, just the way Saiki Kusuo preferred.

The cabin, nestled deep in the heart of the Jura Forest, remained untouched. The leaves rustled gently in the breeze. The sky was clear, the forest calm. Birds chirped in the far distance—but never too close—and even the wind tiptoed around the quiet aura that lingered near the small, oddly normal-looking wooden cabin.

Inside, Saiki was lounging like usual, reclining lazily on a small sofa with one hand lifting a spoon to his mouth. A bowl of glistening coffee jelly rested on his lap.

"Peace and coffee jelly… the perfect combo," he muttered.

With a small wave of his finger, a fresh bowl of jelly materialized from a Tokyo convenience store and dropped right onto the table beside him. No magicules. No flare. Just quiet, clean teleportation. He could go back to his world if he wanted—but honestly, this one had fewer humans. Fewer people meant fewer headaches, and he can always run back the time and everything will be fine.

"Yare Yare…" he exhaled, stretching his legs.

But peace? Peace doesn't last long in a world crawling with powerful weirdos.

Just as the jelly met his lips, his psychic scan pinged.

Saiki blinked.

"…Eastern Empire. Rudra," he muttered.

Rudra, Supreme Emperor of the Eastern Empire and master strategist, was deep in thought… and Saiki could see every single one of those thoughts. His plans to investigate Veldora's rise. His suspicion that someone else was pulling the strings. And most annoyingly, his desire to conquer the Jura Forest for its resources.

Saiki's spoon paused mid-air.

"This guy… is going to be a pain."

But for now, he'd just keep an eye on him.

A few days later…

Outside the cabin, Veldora was in the middle of… well, another one of his overly dramatic reenactments.

"And then I roared—like this!" he shouted, flailing his arms and stomping in circles. "And BOOM—Guy flew backward like a kicked rock!"

Saiki sat on the porch, face in one hand, silently eating.

"I'm pretty sure I didn't make you roar like that," he muttered.

"You should have! It would've been more dramatic!" Veldora said, now pantomiming an explosion with his hands. "You should've seen their faces! Especially Milim's! She looked like she saw a ghost dragon!"

Then suddenly, rustling came from the trees.

Veldora turned sharply. "Hmph! Who dares disturb the mighty—"

Out came a small group—ten goblins—frail, weak-looking, their clothes tattered, bones visible beneath thin skin, and eyes wide with fear and desperation.

They approached slowly, trembling. They weren't warriors, that was clear. They weren't even scouts. Just frightened, beaten-down survivors.

Veldora blinked, confused. "...Huh?"

One of the goblins—a little older than the others, hunched over and leaning on a stick—stepped forward.

"O-O Great One… A-Are you… V-Veldora, the Storm Dragon?" he asked, eyes wide with awe.

Veldora puffed up, folding his arms with an exaggerated smirk. "The one and only! Witness my greatness!"

The goblins all dropped to their knees in a clumsy, dirt-kissing bow.

"O Lord Veldora! We beg your forgiveness for disturbing you! We heard stories—rumors that you have returned and now rule these woods again. We come not to challenge you, but to beg for your help!"

Veldora, taken aback, tilted his head. "Help? Me?"

Saiki, from the porch, raised an eyebrow. "Here we go…"

The old goblin continued, voice shaky. "Our village… it's small, poor. We have no food left. Our warriors are few and weak. The direwolves and lizardmen attack us every week. We barely survive."

Another goblin added, "We heard… you live here now. And that a second powerful being—one we do not know—lives beside you. We thought… maybe you would help us."

The group bowed their heads again, this time tears dripping into the dirt. Their desperation was raw, painful to watch—even for someone like Veldora, whose ego was usually the size of a mountain.

For a moment, he scratched his cheek, clearly flustered.

"W-Well, of course! I mean… as the Great Veldora, I can help you. I mean, obviously. But…"

He turned awkwardly toward the cabin.

"...Hey, uh, Saiki… what do you think?"

Saiki didn't look up from his jelly. "It's your forest, your worshippers. Do what you want."

Veldora blinked. "Oh."

He turned back to the goblins, clearing his throat and standing straighter. "Very well! I, the magnificent Veldora, shall bestow protection upon your village! Henceforth, no beast shall threaten you! No monster shall trespass! You shall live under MY BANNER!"

The goblins' eyes lit up.

"REALLY?!"

Veldora grinned and struck a dramatic pose. "Yes! All I ask in return is that you spread my greatness! And maybe offer some snacks once in a while."

From the porch, Saiki finally stood, finishing his coffee jelly.

"…This is going to spiral into a whole kingdom, isn't it?"

Veldora turned, thumbs up. "A Veldora Kingdom! With statues of me!"

"…Yare Yare Daze…"

While the goblins were happy—no, ecstatic—to now live under Veldora's protection, bouncing and bowing as if they had just won the lottery, something else was stirring.

Something far more dangerous.

Saiki Kusuo, spoon in mouth, eyes half-lidded, leaned against the cabin doorframe watching them quietly. His telepathy picked up all of it: their happiness, their relief, their admiration of Veldora. None of them suspected a thing.

That's when it hit him.

"A kingdom…"

His spoon paused mid-air.

"That's not a bad idea, actually. I've read enough manga to know where this is going. Guy gets summoned to another world, forms a kingdom, gets respected, and lives a quiet life…"

He glanced at the goblins all worshipping Veldora like he was a god-king.

"Except this time, Veldora can be the face… and I'll be the mastermind in the shadows. Easy."

He chuckled internally.

"Move over Ainz, Lelouch… it's Saiki's turn."

He stepped forward, his steps silent but unnervingly heavy. All ten goblins turned instantly, sensing something… off.

They stared at him.

He had no aura. No pressure. No grand dragon wings or swirling magic like Veldora.

Yet every goblin, deep down, felt a shiver crawl up their backs. One accidentally peed a little.

Saiki stared at them, then spoke:

"Alright, goblins. We'll help you. Veldora will be your new king… and the Jura Forest will be a kingdom."

Their eyes widened.

"A real… kingdom?"

"For us?!"

Saiki nodded once.

"But," he added, his voice suddenly colder, "never speak of me. Ever. To anyone. Understand?"

The goblins nodded so hard their necks cracked. "W-we swear! We swear, my lord!"

Still, Saiki wasn't satisfied.

He casually invaded their minds.

No resistance. No lies. Just pure loyalty and fear. But just to be sure, he tweaked their memories. Now, he didn't exist in their thoughts. They'd remember Veldora doing everything. He even implanted a deep subconscious block—if anyone asked about the pink-haired human, they'd feel extreme nausea and forget why they were even asking.

From the side, Veldora clapped. "Brilliant! You're even scarier than I thought!"

"Thanks," Saiki replied flatly. "Now, you're gonna need subjects for this so-called kingdom. Can't be a king without people."

Veldora flexed dramatically, lightning crackling behind him again. "Hah! Leave that to me!"

Saiki sighed. "I added that lightning effect for drama… but now he thinks it's natural."

Then Saiki turned to the elder goblin, who was still kneeling.

"What's your name?"

The goblin blinked. "I… I don't have one, my lord. We're nameless."

Veldora interjected, "Right! In this world, giving a name to someone without one can cause them to evolve. But it costs magicules. And if you're weaker than them, naming can kill you."

Saiki blinked. "That's the stupidest game mechanic I've ever heard."

He crouched to the elder goblin's eye level.

"You're Rigurd now."

BOOM.

A pillar of green-gold energy burst from Rigurd's body. The ground trembled. All the goblins screamed.

Rigurd screamed too.

Muscles exploded onto his bony frame. Wrinkles smoothed out. His hunched posture straightened. His jawline could now cut bread.

When the light faded, Rigurd stood tall—proud, jacked, and probably twenty years younger.

"W-what just happened to me?!"

Veldora's mouth was a giant "O." "HUH?! HE EVOLVED?! That fast?! And you didn't even flinch, Saiki! Not a single magicule!"

"I don't use magicules," Saiki replied with a shrug. "Psychic energy is better. Cleaner. No recharge required."

Rigurd dropped to his knees.

"Thank you! Thank you, great lord of power! My soul is reborn!"

"O-Oh! Thank you, King Veldora!!"

Saiki sighed. "Yare Yare…"

The other goblins rushed up, now desperate for names. Saiki rolled his neck, grumbled a little, then started naming them one by one like he was speedrunning a game.

"Gobu. Gelda. Riguro. Garm. Gardo…"

FLASH. FLASH. FLASH. FLASH.

Each evolved, like Pokémon hitting level 36 with infinite Rare Candies. Veldora started screaming again.

"This is nuts! You're nuts! Do you even realize what you're doing?!"

"Yes," Saiki said, as another goblin grew six inches taller in 3 seconds.

When it was done, the goblins looked like a proper tribe now. Stronger, faster, better looking… even their teeth sparkled.

Rigurd saluted. "Lord Veldora! Great Sa—uh… I mean, Lord Veldora! Allow us to bring our families and village here! We will form the first subjects of the Jura Kingdom!"

Saiki nodded. "Good. Build the village here. I'll provide protection… and… maybe housing."

He snapped his fingers, and a giant modern wooden lodge appeared right next to the cabin.

The goblins gasped.

"Is this… magic?!"

"Something like that," Saiki muttered, pulling out another coffee jelly cup from thin air. "Veldora, you're the face of this. I'm just the guy in the chair."

Veldora puffed up his chest. "Then allow me to say the first official decree as King!"

He turned, arms raised dramatically.

"FROM THIS DAY FORTH—THE JURA KINGDOM IS BORN! TREMBLE BEFORE THE MIGHT OF VELDORA, THE STORM EMPEROR!"

Thunder boomed again—Saiki's doing, of course.

Saiki slurped his jelly, mumbling, "Yare Yare… what have I started?"
