Chapter 75: Chapter 10: White Zetsu

The two infiltrated the hospital under the guise of civilians, refraining from launching an immediate attack. With Konoha caught in the chaos of war, the entire facility was bustling, leaving no one to notice the presence of intruders.

Deidara followed Kabuto through the corridors. It was clear Kabuto was well-acquainted with the layout as they soon arrived on a quieter floor—the administrative offices.

"Seiryu-sama, the records room is just ahead. There should be guards, so we might encounter resistance," Kabuto warned.

Deidara nodded in understanding.

"I'll be careful not to blow the data up along with them."

They approached cautiously. At a desk near the records room sat a kunoichi in a white coat, engrossed in organizing documents. These records didn't seem particularly important, as Konoha Hospital had only assigned an in-house manager rather than involving ANBU for security.

"Who's there?"

The woman looked up, revealing a familiar face— Rin!

What a coincidence.

Deidara quickly dispelled his transformation technique. Rin stood, stunned.

"Deidara-sama! It's you!"

Kabuto, who had already formed a chakra scalpel in his hand, relaxed, lowering it with a smile as Rin respectfully bowed.

"So she's one of ours. Who would've guessed even Miss Rin is a spy? Truly unexpected."

Rin glanced at Kabuto. While they had no direct interactions, she vaguely recognized him as a Genin who frequented the hospital. However, her expression darkened—after all, Kabuto was a spy embedded in Konoha, and now, so was she.

"Rin, I need the hospital's patient data," Deidara requested.

"Taking it won't cause you trouble, will it?"

Rin shook her head.

"No significant trouble. It's just relatively unimportant information. At most, I'll be scolded by the director. But for Deidara-sama, that's nothing."

Relieved, Deidara nodded.

"Kabuto, you go—"

Boom!

Before he could finish, a thick wooden spike burst through the wall, hurtling toward Deidara's abdomen with blinding speed.

Reacting instinctively, Deidara rolled aside, but the spike still left a long gash across his side. Fortunately, his clay-body transformation mitigated the damage.

"Careful! We're under attack!" Deidara's wound began healing as his clay form reset itself. Kabuto and Rin immediately took defensive stances.

Crash!

Dozens of thorny branches erupted from the floor, weaving into a net aimed at Deidara. It was clear the assailant had specifically targeted him.

"Hah!"

Deidara's Clay Serpent Hand technique obliterated most of the incoming thorns, though a few managed to graze him. However, his clay transformation rendered these ineffective.

Wait—something's wrong!

Wood Release could absorb chakra. Deidara felt his chakra drain slightly with each branch that touched him. If this continued, even his clay transformation would be useless.

"Is this Orochimaru-sama's experiment subject? Wasn't he called Tenzo?" Kabuto speculated, slicing through an incoming branch with his chakra scalpel.

Deidara shook his head. Tenzo's Wood Release wasn't this powerful. He had a guess: the culprit was undoubtedly Yamato under Zetsu's control.

Why would Obito send Zetsu to attack him? Did they perceive him as a threat to eliminate?

Deidara's actions had pushed Nagato toward change. The current Akatsuki had largely broken free from Obito's control, which might have alarmed him.

Summoning several clay constructs, Deidara began to retreat toward the hospital's exit. A large-scale battle here could jeopardize future plans to ally with Konoha.

"Rin, Kabuto, follow me. The enemy might try to use you against me," Deidara instructed.

"Deidara-sama, don't worry about us!" Rin stepped forward, kunai in hand, determined.

"No, Rin!"

"You and Kabuto are medical-nin. Focus on protecting yourselves. My abilities could hurt you if you stay too close."

Reluctantly, Rin nodded and stepped back. Deidara reached into his clay pouch, his hands working quickly. This kind of restrained fight was aggravating, but he had no choice.

As Deidara's clay constructs began to take form, the Wood Release attacks intensified. Thorned spikes surged from every direction. These were no ordinary attacks—each spike carried the potential to sap his chakra with devastating efficiency.

C1: White Ant Swarm!

Deidara unleashed countless clay ants, which swarmed and devoured the wooden spikes. He followed up by releasing hundreds of clay butterflies, creating a defensive barrier around himself and his allies. The moment any branch drew near, a portion of the butterflies would detonate, reducing the wood to fragments.

There was only one option now—choose a direction and charge out with everything he had.
